I am writing this to bring attention to a serious scam that occurred inside your Walmart 24h store…read morein Cancun. During my visit, a man named Mike, wearing a Walmart name tag, approached us inside the store and offered what he claimed was an official Walmart promotion: * 6 round-trip ferry tickets to Isla Mujeres * A full-day golf cart rental * Lunch on the island * Hotel pickup All for USD $120, with a $30 deposit. He repeatedly assured us that he worked for Walmart, not any resort, and that it was NOT a timeshare sales pitch. However, later that night he messaged us saying the pickup would be changed to 8:00 AM so he could take us to another resort for breakfast -- something we never agreed to. When we insisted on sticking to the original 9:30 AM plan, he showed up the next morning and again pressured us to go to the resort to attend a 1.5-hour presentation, which was obviously a timeshare scheme. When we refused, he told us the trip was canceled and that our $30 deposit was being kept by his "boss." He then claimed we would have to return to Walmart to get it back. Before we could even discuss it further, he jumped onto a bus and disappeared. This was misrepresentation, dishonesty, and a clear scam -- all happening inside Walmart premises, by someone wearing a Walmart name badge. I am requesting: 1. Walmart Cancun to investigate how scammers are operating inside your store while appearing to be legitimate staff. 2. The resort involved to take responsibility for using deceptive tactics to lure tourists into timeshare presentations. 3. A refund of the $30 deposit that was taken under false pretenses. 4. Measures to ensure this does not happen to other visitors. Tourists should feel safe inside a well-known retailer like Walmart -- not targeted by scammers pretending to be staff. The mall was air conditioned, clean, 80's modern, and safe with mostly middle range shops. The Food court was easy to find. There were a couple sit down restaurants. We went to the sushi restaurant but the hostess said there was a long wait. We settled on Pizza Hut for my youngest which had a surprisingly long wait. The rest of us ate Chinese "Cajun" food which is similar to what's offered in all US malls. Everyone was fed for about $35. The food was a little greasy but filling. I had to use my Spanish to order everything. The staff were all very friendly and hospitable.

This place feels super safe- when I went, I was pretty much shadowed by security forces wearing armored vests with walkie-talkies. This is actually kinda the entrance to even fancier places, a ferris wheel, and high-end residences. The mall doesn't seem to have any public restrooms. There is no food court, just a smattering of high end places that are kinda tucked here and there throughout the mall. Parking looks challenging. I'd rather take the bus here. When I went, it appeared that they were expanding the footprint of this shopping mall.

We were blown away by 1) the AC and lovely smells of perfume 2) the lux brands such Hermes, Rolex, YSL, BVLGARI and more. 3) all the beautiful displays of art. Dam mini cheese buns are so good it's dangerous at $3 pesos! This shopping mall seems to have had better days. There's a bit of an occupancy problem. It's quiet. However, it feels safe. I saw security wandering around, and there aren't any locals hassling the tourists for change. In the near future, the causeway across the lagoon is going to be completed, and the causeway is going to drop off vehicles right in front of this shopping center. It'll be the first thing you see when you drive to Cancun. The future is bright for this shopping mall. The place has a bunch of different vendors and retailers here. You can get out of the sun, enjoy a cup of coffee, dinner at a fancy-ish restaurant (Ruth Chris!) I don't know where you can park, but this mall is easily accessible from the bus.
