We had amazing lengua tacos for lunch. I also loved their suaredo taco. Their salsas were all spicy and delicious. I mixed all four salsas on my tacos for extra flavoring. Their Limonada Copeana was refreshing on a hot sunny day. Service was excellent and our nice female server was very patient with our limited Spanish. You can take the 24 hour R1 or R2 bus (12 pesos one-way and use small bills only) from the hotel zone to the roundabout intersection at Tulum and Uxmal Avenues then walk down the side street next to McDonalds for 0.1 miles and it will be on the left. Then walk back to cross Tulum Avenue onto the opposite side and walk south to the next major intersection (Tulum and Coba Avenues - use second bus stop next to the Chedraui grocery store (there is an amazing Barbacoa taco stand next to it - must try their tacos for 22 pesos each) and directly in front of the Chinese restaurant) to pick up an R1 bus back to the hotel zone.
Came here for lunch because of their reviews. The taqueria wasn't very busy and that is a bad sign. It doesn't mean they aren't skilled, but when it's not busy, it's bad for me as a customer because the tacos will not be as fresh as when it is busy. My Al Pastor did not hit the same like when I had it at El Fogón the night before. Again, not saying it's their fault, but a busier place will have more exceptional flavor in regards to their Al Pastor. What really impressed me by this place was their more unique specialty tacos. The signature "Coapenitos" taco had a mixture of beef parts, chorizo, avocado, and topped with crunchy Chicharron and gave me a hearty, attractive bite. I can see why they named it after the restaurant. Stick to the specialty tacos. Also the crispy Tripa is good too!
Hands downs THE best tacos I've ever tasted. It is very tourist friendly and the prices are beyond reasonable. I had four coapenos and two margaritas for $20 USD. I don't think you can beat that value. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the music selection was pretty good. The coapenos are very small so you're going to need a few to fill up. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Cancun. I enjoyed every single thing I tried here and I'll definitely be back
I finally made it back to Taqueria Coapeñitos, after a year and a half away! It was just as good as I remembered! This time I had a suadero taco, bistec taco, and two tacos al pastor, all were delicious especially the suadero. The salsas are all various degrees of spicy, the grayish one is the spiciest. The kiwi margarita was excellent, I've never had a margarita that tasty. My girl got the Jamaica margarita and was not disappointed. I would have like them blended but I forgot to ask. Service is always fast and the wait staff are very attentive. Ambience is cool with a hip retro vibe and a cool outdoor seating area. Overall, it's a must visit in Cancun!
Its friggin FIVE star flavor!!! We waited a while to seat and order ... food took a minute to come out also We didnt sit at the bar and we looked like tourists.....but the wait is worth that flavor tho Beer was not as cold as i wanted but beer is beer. They do traditional mexican food...no burritos n rice or taco salads n ish. Street parking style, good luck
What a great find in Cancun! Heard about it from Brother and Sister In-Laws who stumbled upon iy last month and we were so happy we tried it. Menu isn't huge but everything we got was great. Sauces offered were excellent, too. Highly recommended! A bit off the beaten path, they're taking covid very seriously, so wear a mask.
Yelpers nailed this one again, thankfully! You know when you find a spot that's between 4 and 5 stars? Or when maybe it COULD be a 5 star once you confirm your 1st visit? Yeah, this is not that place... Taqueria Coapeñitos gets 5 stars after only one visit! I would eat here weekly, for my birthday, hell I'd work and do dishes here just for some of their crazy good eats! TC isn't JUST making your typical and simple street tacos with meat, onions and cilantro. I love those too... but here these guys are killing it with creativity paired with well thought out flavors and textures. Their prices are way reasonable and their portions are much bigger than the local 5 X $100MXN little street tacos. Lucky for us, we hit this spot on the last night of their Taco Week. My 3 taco plate for $70MXN was a special for their event with 2 of the tacos not even on the menu... sadly I don't remember each of them. Fear not, the 6 of us had a variety of eats and we all agreed these were some of, if not, THE BEST tacos in the Yucatán. Thanks again to the Yelpers out there for sharing the love and making this guy the hero of the evening!
The food was the best its so delicious, and the pastor is juicy not dry a big plus for that! Salma our waitress was really nice and attentive all the time, we ordered a alambre plate for two people and it was great! The maracuya margarita was soo good! The music was not that loud so you could have a good conversation without basically yelling. Really clean place.
Going to a restaurant twice in one weekend during a vacation is pretty rare. That really means one thing, ITS GOOD. Both days revolved around tacos and tortas. Bistec De Res (beef) Tacos - good Lengua De Res (beef tongue) - I love lengua tacos. This is usually my go to. What stole the show was their Al Pastor. I've tried al pastor at different spots and it could be a hit or miss. Ordered the Al Pastor Torta and this was so good!! Our last day in Cancun and we wanted to go back hoping to order more al pastor but since we came too early it wasn't ready yet. If you're wanting to try it, I would say aim for a later time! Sadly, we didn't get a chance the second time but it was definitely memorable. This spot is super chill to drink and eat. Good service as well. read more

Delicious tacos and super friendly/helpful service from Sebastian! Tried the pastor, azteca and suadero loco, and a few other options. All of the sauces were pretty tasty, too! Loved the complimentary chips with bean sauce as well. read more

This was our first family dinner in Cancun. The food was amazing! Had to sit outside because inside was awfully hot, it was summer so outside was pretty warm too but it was a great meal. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Will certainly go back when we visit Cancun again. read more

First stop once we got off the plane and the tacos didn't disappoint. Homemade tortilla, tender flavorful steak and the salsa had the perfect amount of heat. Loved sitting on the patio and the waitress was very friendly. read more

Fast, quick service. Sizable portions and pretty cheap. They double corn tortilla and i felt i only needed one for my tacos. The horchata and mango juices (pulp included!) came out sizeable and were delicious. read more

Food was good but I wish I went to another spot not to fart from this establishment. Food over there was cheaper and so tasty. I ordered couple of tacos and two different sandwiches. Was not enough for two adult to be completely full. read more

We found this place on a food tour. These geniuses put chiliquiles in a torta. They deserve a medal. I'm recommending them for a medal of freedom. One should be free to put whatever they want in a sandwich or a taco for that matter. Horchata was hella creamy. Yum yum!! My son showed his a$& and drowned his torta in salsa de arbol. He spent the next 10 minutes drinking the tables aqua frescas. What a dummy!! read more
Love it! After a couple days eating not authentic Mexican food in Hotel Zone, I decided to explore Cancun downtown. This is a chain but food was amazing! Deco is also interesting with the bricks separating the tables and a wall full of horror movie posters. I ordered beef tongue taco, chorizo taco and pork with pineapple taco. All turned out to be great! I know Americans are typically not big fans of animal parts. But honestly it is so much more respectful to Mother Earth to eat all parts of an animal as it died for you, compared to just eating a portion of it. And beef tongue is great! Homemade chocolate flan was also exceptional as there was a bit hint of sea salt at the end and not too sweet as well. read more
Many videos and websites rave about this place but I don't think it is that good. Honestly the taco trucks in Jackson Heights might even have better tacos. The taco de lengua has one slice of tongue, which is a little different from all the taco de lengua I have had before where the tongue is chopped to smaller pieces; the taco de tripa is a little bitter; taco de bistec de res is very normal. The gabachita de pastor is really good tho. It has melted cheese, pork, pineapple, and avocado in between the warm tortillas. Agua fresca here is meh. read more
This is now my 4th time coming here which also matches the same number of times I've been to Cancun. By far these are the best tacos I've ever had and I live in Dallas, TX. Service is always A+, the margaritas are good and priced fairly as well as shots and premium shots. The only downside is that the inside of the building does not have AC but the food more than makes up for it. read more

Super good. The house margarita was really good; not too sweet, not too sour. The taco de sudadero was my favorite taco. My husband ordered quesadilla de lengua and, not knowing, I tore it up If I were to come back, right now, I'd order the nachos de pollo and a house margarita read more

YUM YUM YUM. I know we should expect to have delicious Mexican food in Mexico, but man we are finding a lot of good Mexican food. I hate to say it, but I haven't really been super into tacos in the past, and now I realize that it's because I was having American tacos. These were super good, and I was shocked to see they had vegan options. I'm super lucky to live in Southern California where there is NO shortage of vegan options, but it was a nice surprise to see some here too. I got the vegan tacos, and you can pick different things to put in it, including mushrooms (ew but nice for people who like fleshy, spore-bearing fungi), pineapple, onions, peppers, avocado, etc. Tasty, affordable, and super nice staff. read more

I had four tacos (pastor, lengua, tripa, coapeñito). The three I ate were pretty good, but I couldn't eat the tripa taco as it had many raw pieces. Our server was attentive and the place looked very clean. read more

When I think Mexican food, THIS is what I think of. Everything is so flavorful and fresh! There were three different Hot sauces: mild, medium and hot. By far the winner was the hot! I did try them all before it put them on my tacos. Just wow! I sat at the bar and requested a Margarita that was not on the menu. The bartender Noel made one for me! The reviews are right: this place has some of the best tacos you will ever have. If you are visiting in Cancún, Taqueria Coapeñitos is definitely a place to add to your to do list. This restaurant also sits in a quite neighborhood away from the hotel zone so you definitely get a feel of the real Cancún. The service is very friendly and accommodating- even if Spanish is not your first language. The servers are also willing to give their own opinions on which meats are their favorites. We tried the pollo, suadero, bistec and al pastor tacos. As this was our last meal before leaving Cancún, we also got a couple carne asada quesadillas to take to the airport. I will definitely be back to this taco spot next time I'm in Cancún! read more
Taco Azteca, suadero loco, and a Coapeñito taco was my order. Very creative menu and they offer some really dam good tacos here. I love trying tacos that I am not accustomed to and this was the perfect place to try them. Their signature taco, the coapeñito is probably the best one to try. Excellent customer service as well. La atención fue muy buena, la comida de entrada fue de buen aspecto. Pero al llegar al departamento empezó la odisea. 1 viajero vomitó y tuvo diarrea al llegar la noche. El segundo viajero en caer empezó con un dolor estomacal incontenible que terminó con el canalizado para rehidratación y medicamento, sin poder aliviar aún el dolor. El tercer viajero aún hoy día tiene diarrea y malestar estomacal. El lugar se oferta como el auténtico sabor del DF, realmente también deberían decir que disenterías y enfermedades anexas incluidas. Evítense la pena y mejor cómanse un hot dog del Oxxo. Así se van a evitar perder un día en el paraíso. read more

The food was really good and fresh. I had the beef tongue taco which took a lot of guts for me. I will have to say it was my favorite of the ones I had and would go with three of those next time I come. Our server Hugo spoke very good English and was helpful and NOT pushy at all. The inside of restaurant was very pleasant with lots of fans. Overall best experience in Cancun so far. read more

This place is amazing!!! The Suadero tacos are the best tacos here. Second would be the campechano taco Service is great, atmosphere is fun! It's a little hot but get yourself a beer to cool down. They give you an assortment of delicious salsas. Do yourself a favor and don't skip out on this place 10/10! read more
