Really enjoyed our lunch here. The atmosphere is bright, warm, casual, yet elegant. The tables comfortable and well spaced.our server was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and all around pleasant. My husband and I split a bunch of nigiri pieces and a specialty roll. Everything was fresh and flavorful with a delicious taste and texture. I went here for sushi and interested to try more fresh food that Columbus has to offered. For take out, I got the Shrimp Tempura Roll and the Brutus Roll. The shrimp tempura was very good. This was my first time here. The ambiance was beautiful. Although delicious, I'm questioning why everything was in baby portions. The seafood spoke was a very small order for the price. Additionally, I ordered three orders of the unagi (eel) sashimi and was served three pieces. Usually, sashimi offered you 2-3 pieces of fish per order. Given what they charged, you'd expect that. Showed up for happy hour sushi on a Monday at 530. Been here many times on a Monday and looking forward to my meal. We order a drink, and the waiter tells us it will be a 45-60 minute wait for sushi. Stopped in for what I had hoped would be a quick lunch. When I was seated, there were three tables counting me. Took about 10 minutes to have order taken. I had two sushi rolls and a cup of misso soup. Soup was fast and hot, rolls were fresh but average. There appeared to be only one server working, and he was easily overwhelmed by the lunchtime rush. I get that he was hustling, but was not communicative at all about all the delays. In the time it's taken me to write this review (10ish minutes), I'm still waiting for my bill. Total wait time for my check was 14 minutes. Other folks seated here have yet to be served, as well. Like I said, the server is hustling, and I respect that. But wish he could've been more communicative about what's going on (I.e., 'hey, we're swamped and short staffed. I'll be there as soon as I can....') Average meal, not so good service. Sushi rolls were small and not particularly tasty. The nigiri was one piece which I found unusual. Nigiri Salmon was too tough to eat with my teeth. The one roll was wrapped in a wet sheet of bread. Not a great value. They were very nice in the resultant. Maybe I went on an off day. read more

I figured I'd write an update since I've been here more so many times since my last review and haven't updated. Wow, what a wonderful night in Bexley it was. It was a cool 78 degrees and I met two of my good friends for a Sunday night sushi dinner, sitting down on the patio at 7pm tonight. As always, everything was top notch and just as perfect as it gets. One thing I love about their sushi here, and each time I come back I remember, is that they don't *overdo* the rice on the rolls. There is always just a thin layer of rice--it's all about the main ingredients here, ie, the fish. It's always fresh and served cold like sushi should be--and tender, it just dissolves in your mouth, you never have a "chew, chew, chew, spit-in-to-napkin" episode when you eat the rolls here. It's truly amazing. I started with a tempura appetizer and some hot sake. I later switched to a healthy pour of really good viognier and had the crab/seaweed salad which is definitely 2DF (to die for). For dinner I had a spicy tuna roll, california roll and a rainbow roll. The rainbow roll here is absolutely the best I've ever had. So much care and pride is put into the sushi here--it's nothing but a passionate art, and I almost feel guilty eating David's (the sushi chef) creations because they are so perfect and beautiful. The couple I ate with tonight are also regulars. I've taken others here before and people often complain about the wait for the sushi. Well, what you wait for is what you get. But the servers and waiters weren't friendly or helpful i wanted to try something new so i inquired about an item on the menu and the waitress seemed like she didn't know what was going on so i proceed to order it and after i received it i did not like it !!! And ask if it could be removed so after she did , i don't know if he the owner or just the cook but he came out and said next time you order ask what's in it !!! Which i did but very rude ! I usually only go for the sushi but the last couple of times before that happened the same dude that confront me he just always mugs me like he has a problem with black people ! Service was excellent. Kobe steak was blow torched in front of you and the truffle vinagrette dressing was a pleasant surprise. The sushi panini was just unreal. The crispy coating on the outside with the delicate melt in your mouth salmon on the inside was my favorite dish of the night. I ordered the nigiri to gauge the freshness and quality of the unadulterated fish. To be honest, was not the best showing, and overshadowed by the other dishes. But will mention, this also holds true for my fave jap fusion restaurant in Chicago, Macku. P: My Category A recommendations- I would try the starters and entrees. I love the Moshi Sushi Bar!! I gave them five stars because of their fantastic customer service coupled with their delicious smoked salmon and my favorite sushi "The Caterpillar" (any sushi with eel inside is my favorite). I really enjoyed the layout of the restaurant as it was upscale, clean, included tv entertainment and was very comfortable. Overpriced Kroger sushi. Smallest sushi rolls you will ever eat. They will put ALL ordered rolls into one cheap container.

I just despise giving reviews like this but it was a bad experience. I had a friend in from out of town and wanted to take her to a fun area to check out so settled on Bexley. We walked up and down checking out kitties, grammercy books, jeni's and decided on Sushi here for lunch. We walk in the door and the place is completely dead. There is one other table eating but other than that - no one else in the restaurant. We wait quite some time before someone finally comes over to seat us which is surprising considering the lack of patrons in the restaurant. After we are seated a good 10 minutes go by before a waiter finally comes over to us. At this point, we should have gotten up and left but we hung in there (and wish we didn't). A man came over to ask our order but wasn't in the best mood. Ok, let's be honest, he was downright grumpy and really had no interest in serving us. It's almost as if we were bothering him. We both ordered the Bento Box. I was having a hankering for Beef Bulgogi but a little sushi too so this seemed like the perfect fit. Again, disappointed. My beef was cold and the sushi tasted like it came from the Giant Eagle next door. The box was also quite small with not much food. Based on the picture, I definitely expected a bigger portion. The service and shushi here was good (and we eat a lot of sushi). We've been looking for a small local place to get our sushi fix. The miso soup was pure salty goodness - I would return just to have that! We ordered 4 rolls and all of them were great. Our least favorite was the fried roll but only because we prefer the fresh rolls instead. Our favorite was the dragon roll which was spicy and delish! It was all good quality and fresh. So to start, I can't say that I can give the best sushi review since I don't eat fish, but we stopped in here between Jeni's ice cream tastings for dinner. My coworker, who does eat fish, had no complaints. I had the veggie roll, a house salad, and the avocado roll. All were good, standard, and at happy hour prices, couldn't be better. The service was super attentive, the place is nicely renovated/decorated, and cozy. Overall I liked Moshi but ran into some problems. First, their happy hour is very popular and the place is packed during that period. I made a reservation for 6:30 to avoid the big crowd but they were still packed. Good for Moshi. I'm sincerely glad they're so busy. However, it was very loud and it took them a while to recover after the happy hour crowd left. When I called for a reservation I asked if they had gluten free options. The person assured me that they do and stated that they even offer GF soy sauce. We ordered the sashimi combo dinner along with the Pad Thai soup and I again asked if everything that we ordered is gluten free. Our waitress told us that the sushi rice is not because of the type of vinegar that they use. Glad I asked. This could have caused some real problems for my GF dinner partner. She didn't offer any options but I asked someone else if they had steamed (not sushi) rice they said it was available, so we ordered that. The Pad Thai soup is gluten free and includes rice noodles. The 2 other diners with us had the Blackened Miso Cod and the Moshi Combo, which included both sushi and sashimi. Service in general was very slow and they seemed to be understaffed for the volume of customers that were seated. Our server said that we would have to wait about 30 minutes for our sashimi and sushi because they were backed up. We weren't in a hurry and enjoyed the Pad Thai soup while waiting. We had to flag our waitress down to get refills on drinks. I wanted a second plate for sharing and finally walked up to the sushi bar and asked for one. The food was all very good. The establishment is very clean. The staff was friendly but the service was poor because they seemed to be understaffed. The wait for sushi and sashimi was long. I thought it was a bit pricey. Only 1 person ordered an alcoholic drink, so I cant blame the bar tab. I've been to lots of sushi restaurants throughout the US and know what range of pricing to expect. One word... overpriced. I bought $70 worth of sushi take out and it fit in 1.25 container. The tuna in the spicy tuna was that minced up junk that you get at Kroger. I was highly disappointed. The rolls were tiny. If you want amazing sushi that will fill you up drive out to Old Henderson and try Sushi Ten. It doesn't look like much but their sushi is AMAZING and you get a lot for the price. If you want a more sit down Moshi vibe you can't go wrong with Akai Hana. Save your money. The first thing you should know about Moshi is that the taste and quality of their sushi rolls is good. If you only want sushi that tastes fresh and well-made, you don't have to read further. That being said, my girlfriend and I had a number of minor reservations about yesterday's meal at Moshi. It was a warm day, so we decided to sit outside on their patio. We were the only ones out there to start, and I get the distinct impression that the servers forgot about us occasionally. We had the menu for about ten minutes and had questions about it before we could order. We ordered a drink (a lychee mojito, which was delicious) and were left to select our four rolls after our questions were answered. Another ten minutes passed before our drink came and our order was taken...and then the *real* wait was on. We wound up waiting at least twenty-five minutes before our order came out, and if the rolls were of a decent size, we would have been okay with it...but these were seriously among the smallest rolls I've seen at a sushi restaurant. My girlfriend's tuna rolls were about the diameter of a quarter, and my futomaki and shrimp tempura rolls -- "big" rolls at most restaurants -- weren't much larger. Given the cost of the rolls, were were certainly quite disappointed, not to mention still rather hungry. The bill for four rolls and a drink was $50, and combined with the long wait, we really can't justify returning or recommending Moshi, even though the quality was pretty good and the servers were nice. On the plus side, there's a Jeni's next door, so if you *do* decide to try Moshi, you'll have a Plan B for dessert. read more

We have been happily eating at Moshi Sushi since they opened. I think they have the best lunches in town for $9-11. I ususally get the Moshi Platter with miso soup, eel roll and beef bulgogi. It's all delicious, but the tempura is especially luscious: crisp but not greasy. The shrimp and pumpkin tempura are my favorites. We also go for dinner occasionally, and they offer a lovely menu and advice on sake pairings. At many restaurants, I love the food and then there comes a bad meal. Not Moshi Sushi: For over 5 years they have been consistently excellent! The meals are consistently tasty and well presented, and the owners and staff are very friendly. I love this place! read more

We were there today September 19th. It was our first time there and we're new to the area. The waiter was simply phenomenal. He was the young guy who had a wrist brace on the right hand. We didn't get his name. The patio was fantastic. It was nice seeing out there. The food was incredible. The only downside was that the go gochujang sauce was not very strong or very spicy. But everything else is fantastic. We highly recommend this restaurant. This will be one of our new favorites in the area. read more

It was my birthday again last week, and it had been a few years (unfortunately) since we'd treated ourselves to Moshi, so we set out to Bexley on Tuesday evening. There's no getting around the fact that the entrance from the interior parking lot is going to be a little awkward, but we were quickly welcomed and seated. On Monday and Tuesday, basic sushi rolls are half off, and many drinks are just $5. The boy ordered the usual Berry Blossom, which now comes in a short stout glass with diced strawberries and a berry skewer. The restaurant offers a free sushi panini on your birthday, and since we hadn't tried it before, this was an opportune time. We were both a little skeptical about it having read the description in the menu, but after trying it, we are definitely converts. The crispy rice, the flavorful salmon, the avocado -- the blend of ingredients was unusual but the flavor was great! For dinner, we went with sushi -- a Philadelphia roll, a spicy tuna roll, an eel roll (all half price), salmon nigiri, and splurged on the Scarlet Craze. The basic rolls were good, the salmon nigiri was exceptional, and the Scarlet Craze, though it carried a hefty $17.25 price tag, was worth every penny. Taking into consideration the happy hour specials, our bill came to about $55 including tip. We have been to quite a few sushi places in Columbus during our 3+ years here, and Moshi is the best of them when you take into account the quality, service, and ambiance. We have never felt snubbed or condescended to here; the service is polite, attentive, and cheerful.
