Go on Friday night to enjoy Karaoke with your meal. It's hard to get a good seat if you arrive after 7 pm. Unfortunately, it means sitting around for a while, since Karaoke doesn't start until 9:30pm. The high tables are closest to Karaoke and hardest to get. You can make reservations for regular tables. I've had their crab dip, crab & shrimp dip, seafood pasta, wings, fries, fried shrimp and crab cake. Everything has been delicious thus far. Only the crab dip does have that creamy consistency. It's more of a cream cheese/sour cream flavor, but the crab is LUMP. I mean huge chunks unlike typical crab dip. I had them add some cheddar cheese to mine, so it mixes better. The pasta wasn't spicy enough for me, so I've asked for some of the seafood rub and sprinkle it on. The drinks are pretty strong and have funny names. The atmosphere is nice. Everyone is friendly. They automatically add gratuity to your check, so don't be surprised. They have recently posted signs saying no Split Check, so if that's a problem in a group, I suggest bringing cash and a calculator. Given i have a tomato allergy usually buffalo is a safe zone. But here i experienced a very bad reaction because the buffalo shrimp were mixed with tomatoes and barbeque ‍ who wouldve known. I did address the manager with the situation who spoke with the chef about the ingredients and later explained everything to me. My last visit here, I stopped in for lunch and the waitress had me waiting for dang near an hour. Then when she gave me my check I saw that she added her own tip on there! Sorry to say this was a terrible experience. Scallop and oysters were definitely off. The fried oysters were liquid brown inside, smelled and tasted sour. We discussed the strange situation where the bill included gratuity on a 3 person bill, then the credit card receipt used the total with gratuity PLUS another line for tip. Went to Mo's for the first time. Food was tasty but a bit cold. My issue is this- several staff members were waiting tables and then they would just go sit down. The place was so dirty! Dust on the blinds and fans, bathroom looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned in ages, the parking lot had restaurant trash blowing around, the corrugated steel walls looked as if they had never been cleaned, the floor looked un-mopped. The tables around us that were empty had not been wiped down and I had to wipe the one we were given and our chairs too. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like if they don't care about the patron areas! I would not have stayed typically, but we were on a bit of a schedule so we couldn't leave to find someplace different. Just said a quick prayer we wouldn't get food poisoning. Our waiter took some time to attend to us but this was forgivable because there was a graduation party in the banquet room. But she was also lacking in the knowledge of the day's special. She had to go back to get it. I ordered the whole lobster with shrimp and linguini and a side of loaded potato. The lobster was well cooked and the food was delicious. My husband ordered the crab meat stuffed lobster with a side of fries. That was good too. We had the strong island ice tea drinks, which was made. Based on several people indicating the 17% gratuity for parties less than 6, I thought I'd call just to confirm. The conversation went as follows: me: My husband and I were thinking of checking out your restaurant, but some reviews online said there was a gratuity with parties even of two... employee: yea, it's company policy. me: I'm sorry, why? employee: I dunno, it's just the policy. You can see where I'm going with this? Don't get me wrong, a company trying to look out for it's servers is admirable. Eliminating the "customer stiffed me" situation. However... SELL it to me. Tell me your seafood is the freshest in Baltimore. Tell me how I'm paying for outstanding service. Tell me that if I'm not satisfied with my service that I have an option to leave my OWN gratuity. I've tipped servers 50% when I've been impressed. I've tipped servers nothing when they've been abysmal. I tip based on my observations. I see what the environment is like, how busy is it, do they have help that they may need to split their tip with, or someone without whom slows them down (bussers, a section mate)? A company taking the choice away from me makes me feel like my VALUE as a consumer doesn't matter. My EXPERIENCE is second. My household is the dynamic Mo's is looking for. I mean, come on, you're on route 40. You aren't in Downtown. You aren't in DC. We're middle class folks with no kids who can afford to spend $70 on dinner a few times a month. Entice me. Pros: Heaping portions of whatever you order. No joke, a salad comes in a ginormous bowl the size you'd make for several people. Picture the clear bowl of salad at the Olive Garden. Yeah, really. They also have a free parking lot and sell crabs and other items from their "market" around the back. They also have a lot of space between tables which is a plus and helpful for convos that you don't want overheard. Cons: Mediocre food on the best day and just "eh" on a bad day. I gave them a couple of chances but it's not worth it unless you're sick and not able to taste any flavor, or just enjoy bland food. And if you do enjoy boringly bland, go elsewhere because it's cheaper. This restaurant also has the nerve to add 17% gratuity to EVERY check! And the service has been consistently poor with the exception of one young woman. I wanted to scream, "rum away to a better restaurant!" at her. For example, one waitress overcharged our table. When we illustrated that she should have charged our cards the amount of the full check as the tip is included, and then give us the change, she said she charged us the amount and then the rest of the cash in the envelope was towards her tip. WHAT?? Yeah, even the manager took about 15 minutes to unjust get the story straight and then we were told it'd take about a month to get the refund on our cards. Therefore, even if I didn't avoid them due to the bland food, I'd avoid them for not being able to do basic math and for adding an undeserved gratuity. Moral of my story? I try to tip generously when the service is good. Even if there are issues with food, etc, I don't fault waitstaff because they're just doing their jobs. However, when you overcharge, are slow with service and then get upset when I bring up the overcharge, I most certainly will speak with the manager and refuse to go back. read more

I really struggled with the rating of this one. I wanted to love it more than I did, but I just found it to be average. I'm going to break down my review into sections. 1. Ambiance - 4/5 stars Mo's was noticeably clean upon entering. It had a modern interior as soon as you walked in. We sat in what appeared to be an addition, with pretty stone walls, wooden ceilings, and a waterfall. The bathrooms were clean - huge plus. My only complaint is that the tables are rather small. 2. Service - 3.5/5 stars First impression was underwhelming. Upon entering the restaurant, the host sat us immediately. No issue there. However, we had to wait a good 10 mins before our server came. During that time, you could see a group of employees chatting at the hostess stand. But no one came to get our drink order. When one server finally noticed that we had no drinks, he came over and asked if we had been helped. We told him no, and he told us he would get our server. Which he did, and she did come right afterwards. But it just wasn't a great first impression. Our waitress was nice. She was attentive and knowledgeable as far as the menu is concerned. Our appetizer came before our bread, which I thought was a tad strange, but whatever. Overall the service wasn't bad. Was it exceptional? No. But not bad either. 3. Food - 3/5 stars I ordered the steak and crab cake. It's a 16 oz. NY strip and a crab cake, served with rosemary potatoes and your choice of an additional side. I chose the vegetable of the day - broccoli and carrots with Parmesan - as my additional side. The crab cake was ok. The flavor was good, and the texture was nice as well; however, it had a tad too much filler in my opinion. The NY strip was just ok. First of all, I asked for it to be cooked medium. It was more like medium well, so it was a little more dry then I prefer. It really didn't have much of a flavor to be honest. It needed seasoning. I hate to admit that I had to use A1 sauce. I truly don't like to use A1 at a restaurant, but the steak just really lacked flavor. And again, it was dryer than I like, so the A1 was necessary. The Rosemary potatoes were slightly over cooked but well seasoned. And the vegetables were cooked and seasoned well. All in all, I wasn't overwhelmed by the food. It was ok. 4. Value - 2.5/5 stars I'm no stranger to spending good money for a good meal at a nice restaurant. I have no problem paying for great food. I'm a total food lover. I went to culinary school, I've worked in restaurants, I just love great food period. But honestly, for the quality of the food I received, Mo's was overpriced. Nearly $40 for a steak and crab cake meal that was just ok...no thanks. For almost $40 I expect to be blown away. I expect big flavor, steak that doesn't need A1/is cooked to my liking, and crab cake with less filler. I truly wanted to love Mo's more. I'm a sucker for local restaurants and tend to shy away from chains, with a few exceptions. And again, it's not that it was a terrible experience, but it was nothing to write home about either. Tonight we had our 6 month old with us so that was not an option. Kyle greeted us at 7pm and sat us by the door and bought over a high chair as requested. He never once came back to take even a drink order! Mind you there are 3 other female servers on the floor as well bringing out food and not ONE stopped to see if we were Ok. We patiently sat for 15 minutes before I got up and went to the bar for help. Now back to Melissa. She was the bartender and when I came to the bar and told her the situation she was apologetic and took our order. She stayed with us the entire night and did a fantastic job. Mind you while also attending to bar top customers. To top it off 3 other tables came in and the floor servers attended to them..... At the end of our meal I requested to speak with the manager. She bought the check and he soon followed. For appetizers, I ordered the Muscles, and the girlfriend ordered the crab soup. The muscle meat was tiny, and the butter sauce was bland bland bland. The crab soup had the consistency of wall paste, and was bland. Adding Old Bay from the shaker didn't help. We both ordered the Jumbo Lump crabcake. I will say it was the most enjoyable part of the meal for me. The GF said, "meh". As a side, I ordered the Fettuccine for an extra price for us to share. Again, it was bland. Another side that came with the meal was broccoli and carrots. They were steamed well, but contained zero seasoning. None. No butter, no Parmesan cheese.. nothing to make them stand out. Are we sensing a theme here? Our server was pleasant and adequate. Good thing we caught the Gratuity added line on the bill. I usually tip more if the service passes muster. I sit in Mo's parking lot writing this review after being denied crabs for Fathers Day because they "ran out" at 12:30 (despite my having called and made a reservation.) Well I made a reservation, it's Father's Day at 12:30 in the afternoon, and the entire place is empty...you would think there would be some available. On top of this we had to be reseated after saying we were going to have crabs because you can only eat them towards the back. I have read every last review to try and better understand WTF I just experienced. I witness a pattern in how this business is being ran and quite frankly it doesn't surprise me that most of the reviews are low. How do you sleep at night? On my partners suggestion of getting some seafood, we figured we would give Mo's a try... The parking lot was full, why I am not sure, maybe something along the lines of "it was Friday and I just got paid, lets go blow it on drinks and food" We were seated quickly. (this was found to be familiar) Our server comes over and I instantly noticed an attitude that was more or less blahzay. Drinks and app were ordered. Bread came. Drinks came. Entrees placed. We waited, waited, waited. Entrees came. Where's the app?! Within a 20 min. time frame our waitress never acknowledged our missing app. Never asked how our food was. Keep trying to give me more beer, probably trying to set me up for what was lying ahead. Food was subpar, not memorable. Crab Trio and 1 lb. of shrimp with $1.00 worth of onions (upcharge). We overheard the table next to us complain about crabshells in her crab imperial. We experienced the same in ours. Crab cake was decent, well seasoned. My beer was good, I was offered beer another 4 times. I'm a light weight-cheap date. You are barking up the wrong tree lady. We have our fill and get the check. No app. was charged! It's one of those places where you go, "I haven't been to Mo's Seafood in a long time. Let's go!" And, when you go, you realize why you don't go there often at all. Birthday disaster. This was my second try at Mo's. In October we visited the location in Towson for my daughter's birthday. I was beyond disappointed. When my aunt scheduled her birthday dinner at the White Marsh location I figured it had to be better. I was wrong. 1. Several people in the party ordered cream of crab soup as an appetizer. It came out in large bowls without any crab. They were told that it was an extra charge of $6. 2. I ordered the Cajun platter. There was a lot of bland seasoning and large portions but other than that nothing was actually "Cajun" about it. 3. Anything ordered with crab imperial had way too much mayo and was not edible. 4. We asked for separate checks at the beginning. We were told that they wouldn't be separated but they would be itemized to show the individual prices and we could pay with different payment methods. At the end of the night that didn't happen and we were told they were just too busy to do it. 5. 17% gratuity was added. To me, the automatic gratuity makes for a non attentive waitstaff. I always tip fairly. 15% if service is not good. I tend to overcompensate for great service. This should have only been 15% but I will definitely never go back. read more

Ended up getting the cajun fish and shrimp meal to go... Crab legs were good, and the fried wings, fish, and shrimp were good. Asked them to box up the platter... when they relized they forgot the loaded mashed potatoes, when asked if i still wanted them i said no and take it of the bill. $63 bill with poor 'send back food' policy, no manager on duty, oh and a built in $10 gratuity!
