Caught a bartender trying to overcharge. I asked for a single, tall vodka soda and he over poured then proceeded to try and charge me for a double. He dId it to both girls I was with and that is absolutely unacceptable. Trying to scam customers is not the way to go. read more

I am working my way through Mo's menu looking for something I don't like. So far unsuccessful. My wife is stuck on the Sheppard's Pie. She orders it every time we go and I must admit it is really good. But for me, I have had: 1. Meatloaf (*****) - very close to the best I have ever had. The meat loaf itself is cooked perfectly, firm and savory. The mushroom gravy is excellent, adding the perfect amount of earthiness to complete the meal. I'll admit I am not a big mashed potato fan so I had it with a salad instead. 2. Corned Beef and Cabbage (****1/2) - Excellent, not too salty like you get in some restaurants and fork tender. The cabbage was firm and seasoned perfectly. The horseradish sauce is good, just not hot enough form me. 3. Reuben Sandwich (****) - Really good with really tangy sauerkrout and perfect marbled rye bread. Swiss Cheese and Russian Dressing finish it off. The same corned beef as above is still outstanding when part of this sandwich. 4. Mo's Burger (***) - Pretty good, just too much and too messy. Burger cooked medium well instead of medium like I requested, but still OK. The bun just got too soggy and I had to resort to eating the sandwich with a knife and fork. Wound up taking half home - and tried to eat it for dinner, but it did not reheat well. If you can't eat the full burger with corned beef/swiss cheese/bacon/lettuce/tomato/onion then I wouldn't bother with leftovers. The "Killarney Sauce" was adequate but like many other BBQ sauces I've had. I had fries with the burger. They appear fresh cut (skin on, the way I like them) and a crispy on the outside and soft inside. Good fries. 5. Today I tried the Fish & Chips (*****) with a German Dopplebock beer. I have had F&C all across the U.S. and throughout the U.K. and I would stack these up against anyone else's. The fish (cod) was cooked perfectly and the Harp beer battered coating is probably, in my opinion THE best. It is crunchy and I could detect the beer - something you don't always do. The "chips" or fries are as described above. The tartar sauce is excellent although I generally forego that and use malt vinegar instead. My wife and I generally share the Spinach and Artichoke Dip appetizer (*****). It is thick and heavy with spinach and artichoke. Not at all runny like some restaurants. Ambiance - Very "publike". Heavy on the dark wood and leather with the walls covered in beer advertisements. They do have an exhaustive beer selection and, since by taste in beer runs toward the dark and heavy brews, I have a number of alternatives from which to choose. I'm a big Guinness fan but was very impressed with the Dopplebock I had today. The also serve it cold, which is the way I like it. Mo's is an excellent restaurant disguised as a sports bar with enough TVs to satisfy anyone (not a bad seat in the house). It can be very loud when they few pretty busy. Service and Waitstaff - Fine in all respects. We have had 3 or 4 different servers and they have been uniformly excellent. Always friendly (but not effusive) and helpful. They are always available (but not obtrusive) and service has been timely and ACCURATE - something I cannot say for most other restaurants, at least 100% of the time. They have never botched an order (save the doneness of that burger - and that was not the server's fault) and always show up at the perfect time to bring the check. As I continue my menu crawl, I'll provide updates. Mo's Irish Pub in Cypress is highly recommended (the new Katy location is a carbon copy and our one visit was just as good). read more

I went to Mo's for a birthday dinner with some friends. Being that this location had just opened, I wanted to try it out. The service was horrible. It took 15-20 minutes before we had someone come to our table to place our drink orders. Then took another 15-20 minutes to receive our drinks. Ordering food took 30 minutes and to receive the food was another 30-45. During our time, only once were we asked if we needed a refill. The waitress was very unprofessional and just had a attitude like she didn't want to be there. I hope Mo's gets a handle on this because their business will suffer. read more

I search yelp for "good fish & chips" yelp directed me to Mo's. The people were very pleasant and professional. Everyone had a smile which makes you feel like you a friend of rhetoric business. I was placing my order to go, so I was instructed to go to the bar. Now, credit the bartender for the upsale as I never intended to get a beer, but she twisted my arm (only kidding). She just smiled and asked what she could get me while I waited. She said since everything is made as ordered it's not McDonald's fast, but they are pretty quick. She said I would have time to have one beer. So that is what I did, placed the order for 2 fish & chips, and got a beer. I was just about through when the food came out, so far everything is great. I forgot to look at the price of the fish & chips, so I was a bit surprised at the price being about 13.00 each. My mom is from England so Fish & chips I know very well. The price seems a bit high, but when I got home and saw the pieces of fish, the price became extremely high. Either they are using baby cod or they are getting 6 orders from one fish. Each piece was about the size of a roll of quarters, then add the batter. This is beer batter (my favorite type), but someone in the kitchen messed up badly as the fish with the batter was so salty you couldn't eat it. Same with the onion rings I got to switch from the fries on one of the orders. Take away the batter and no salty taste. We ate the fish and onion rings without the batter. The amount of onion rings was fine, but without the batter, we'll it wasn't fish and chips. With the amount of food that we could actually eat, we were let hungry. I did call the manager to let him know our disappointment in the meals, he apologized and said he would go check out what went wrong in the kitchen. He then bragged or boasted that he would put his Fish & Chips up against any restaurant in Houston. He said next time we come in here will "take care of us". Not sure what he meant as he didn't offer to refund my meal or even discount the price. Or ask if I wanted to return that food and pick up another new order. We shall see. I will update this review after that and maybe they will get more stars. For now, I can only give them two stars and that really is for the people I had contact with. Right now I wouldn't want to recommend them, but you can try them out. After my next visit I will give my recommendations as to go there or avoid them. read more

So, we've tried going to Mo's many times and the service has always been spotty. The last 3 times however have been a joke. Each time we were sat, no waiter came to greet us and after waiting several minutes we decided to leave and go somewhere else. The last time a waitress took the order at the table next to us and left without acknowledging us. We were the only other table outside. Needless to say we won't be going back. If you are fortunate enough to find yourself seated and greeted by a waiter the food is good but most items are fried and/or covered in cheese. The food is probably good enough for at least 3 stars..... My recommendation is to make the drive down Mueske and give Frio Grill a try. Way better food and service. read more

I'm a generous tipper but my experience at Mo's was unreal. The waitress messed up so many times I actually tipped nothing. We watched her too and she had maybe 3 small tables including us. We ordered our appetizer (chips and queso) 10 mins before ordering our food. We got it 1 min before our main course. We waited 15 mins for one drink. We didn't even get a drink we ordered. There's so many other things that she messed up on I just don't want to spend the time typing it. That's the first time I've ever tipped nothing. Not only do I blame her I blame the restaurant who hired her and put her out on the floor when she was clearly not ready or qualified to work as a waitress. It is great to have a casual place to relax, have a drink, and eat really good food. Mo's is s pub, so don't expect high end dining. The food is however surprisingly good for a pub. I have been blown away by how good the food is. It has a great outdoor patio with live music on the weekends. And the music starts around 8:00 or 8:30 so a night out with friends does not need to be a late night . I know some people have complained that it does not have an extensive kid's menu or play area. It is a pub! I am personally happy to have some place in Cypress that is not overrun with kids on iPads. I also know some people have complained that the beer is not cheap. If you want cheap beer go to Lucky's, it is only a block away. If you want a nice place to meet with adult friends, have a drink and then be surprised at how good the food it, come on out. read more

We've been a handful of times and have always been pleased until tonight. Stopped in at 8:40, an hour and 20 minutes from closing. Sat at the bar to get a drink and a quick late dinner. The two female bartenders working 4-13-22 PM shift served us one drink then avoided eye contact for the remainder of our time. It was obvious they would rather prepare for closing than make money. Emptying the garnish containers, cleaning up, but not serving guests who were trying to get their attention. After 40 minutes of no eye contact despite my best efforts, we grabbed the first person who would even look our way to close us out and take our business elsewhere. I really do not like to complain as everyone has their bad nights but these two bartenders very obviously wanted people to leave so they could go home. If I was the bar manager I would fire them on the spot. You're taking money away from the business. Mo's, we wish we didn't have to write this. If they would have checked in ONCE to order our food and maybe another round of drinks, they would have earned themselves a 20%+ tip. We are both former service workers and always tip well as long as we have a fairly decent time! You're going to be working until the closing hour anyways, why not make some tips off your guests? Went on a weekend night and after trying a few places with huge waits we tried mo's and got right in. I decided to try some Irish stuff since it's an Irish pub....apparently that wasn't a very good idea. I don't want to be to hard on Mo's cause I think it might have been just a little more that I didn't like THAT food then it was that it was bad food. Someone else may try it and love it. The service and beer (Guiness) was good but I got a concoction called a boxty that I did not care for at all. It looked like a large burrito. Boxty is a traditional Irish potato pancake. The dish is mostly associated with the north midlands, north Connacht and southern Ulster, in particular the counties of Mayo, Sligo, Donegal, Fermanagh, Longford, Leitrim and Cavan. Next time if there is one I will probably go with the traditional burger and fries and update accordingly. Giving it a 3 star rating for service and beer only. If i was rating the food I had it would be a 1 or 2 star just for the fact that I apparently am not fond of boxtys. read more

We have frequented Mo's quite a few times and it's never my favorite if good food is what you want in addition to drinks. It's fun if there is a kitschy band playing or even once when we got to see all the cute young Irish dancers. I never feel it's really clean there and they ruin my food every time. We went last weekend and once again, the moment we walk in I am hit with that "bar" smell. There are other pubs and restaurants that manage to get rid of this smell, I'm not sure why Mo's cant. As usual I didn't like my food. I LOVE Reubens, so I ordered that. It is made with corned beef which an Irish restaurant should be able to knock out of the park but it was terrible. The meat was so chewy I had to take it out of my mouth. So much so that when I would bite down, the meat would come out of the sandwich! The Saurkraut was delicious so I tried to eat it as just a sort of grilled cheese but I finally just decided it was horrible and pushed it away. I told the waitress when she finally came back to the table it was bad and she asked if I wanted something else, but my husband was already finished with his food, so I just wanted to leave. She STILL charged me for the food she could clearly see I didn't eat. We stopped at a hamburger place on the way home because I was still hungry. I wish the English pub had stayed open so my husband could get his Shepherds pie and Guiness there, because I won't return here. read more

Very disappointed in our visit tonight. I really like the atmosphere here at Mo's but we will not return. We ordered fried pickles and they were undercooked and tasted like uncooked batter. Our food arrived and I had asked for my fries to be cooked extra crispy and they were not. My French dip sandwich was tasteless and the bread was doughy. The roast beef was tasteless and reminded me of bologna. My girlfriends Santa Fe chicken sandwich was also tasteless. The manager promptly spoke to us after I returned the food and said he would buy us our next two beers, which he failed to deliver on. A while back, my partner and I walked in, and the greeter said hi and sat us down at a table to be waited on. 20 minutes went by and no one had come- not even to ask for our drink order. :/ it was so awkward. We weren't even at a hard-to-see table; we were literally in the middle of the restaurant. So we decided to get up and leave. Me and my wife went to the soft opening on Sunday February 21 and had a vey enjoyable experience. I had the Jameson grilled chicken which was to die for, and my wife had the Ruben sandwich. They had different menus for different couples so the kitchen could practice. I would suggest anything from the Jameson Grill as it is a very delicious glaze! Will be going back after grand opening to try more from the menu. Wait for drinks was a little long, and the servers reached over the table to hand drinks and food, but maybe this will get ironed out. Great place! read more

This place should close tomorrow. It was awful service. Terrible food... The nachos were big and looked delicious, but the cheese, meat, chicken, avocado, sour cream were congealed and nasty. The Reuben sandwich with what was thought to be "chicken" and dumplings hardly looked the part. Plus, it was saltier than the Dead Sea. I had the cheeseburger wrap things... They were not as good as hoped. In all this place is just a big mush of the old Bennigans and Chili's if they had a huge bastard child and sent it off to live in Cypress. I love the Cypress area, but there needs to be a better selection of places to hangout and drink occasionally along the 290 corridor. Baker Street is still a go to place for good bartender/service. Mo's has zero service and knowledge of their menu and drinks. It was like asking quantum physics when we asked for a recommendation on the menu... "Uuuuhhhhhhh... Yeah. I don't know, I just work here", just order anything" WOW!! We have a winner with this place. Save your money, cause it will cost you dearly to experience such terrible service and food. read more

She was knowledgeable and quick about every drink I asked about. The bartender that was working the outside bar today just had an aura that said don't sit here. The place is very nice and I loved that they have Smithwicks beer but the shame comes in the food. We had the Rueben and Jameson Shrimp. The shrimp was so small even by Houston standards. It should have been called popcorn shrimp. The Rueben was "subway sandwich" size and was served with only three onion rings. I have become used to Houston doing everything the "cheapest way" but this was an all time low. Go here for the bar but don't stay for the food! The Owner better start raising the standards, stop doing things the cheapest way or this will be another "had potential" closed down place that is a hallmark of Houston and that would be a shame. read more

The Rueben I ordered tasted funny....the beef had a funky smell also. I alerted the waiter simply because if there was something wrong I wanted to make sure they catch it and no one gets sick. I ordered the "GRILLED vegetable melt" and when it came out.... It was thinly shaved veggies that were sautéed to almost NOTHING! Manager comes over, clearly not giving a fuck, saying "well it's a sautéed veg sandwich." WEIRD, YOUR MENU SAYS GRILLLLEDDDDDD VEGETABLES! There was not even a half of cup of these "sautéed veggies." I'm giving this place 2 stars for bad customer service. We had a large group (9) we placed our order staggered. A burger we ordered came back well done (ordered medium) our waitress advised us because a single bit was taken that her manager refused to correct the mistake. I asked for the manager to come over, he never did. He hid inside by restrooms until we left. I informed the waitress the correct & easiest thing is to prepare another burger, if not she could gladly have the burger back & remove it from our bill. The chicken tenders are great but unfortunately that's not enough to keep me coming back. read more

The service was rather poor. The only thing the waitress got correct was what we ordered. Two of the people ordered cheddar cheese instead of pepper jack with no tomatoes. The sandwiches came with pepperjack and tomatoes. When we brought this to our waitresses attention, she didn't care. She said she would bring us cheddar cheese. If we wanted to make our own sandwiches, we would have stayed home. She constantly forgot to bring us condiments that we requested, and to go boxes. On top of that it took over an hour to get our food. I must make a not that there was only 3 of us. read more
