A few comfort foods really get me excited, and when I saw shepherd's pie was on the menu here, that was enough to hook me. This particular location is one of only a few across the entire country: in Wisconsin (open a long time), Indiana and the other here in Houston (vintage park to be exact). So I'm feeling lucky that it's closer than the other one I've tried. I'm not the biggest fan of loud, rowdy places on the regular but it's only on certain nights when live music is there and after all, it is an Irish pub, I think it's what they're going for. So luckily they have plenty to eat and drink late into the night! They have a nice variety of typical bar food and specialty Irish dishes. The Shepard's pie (or cottage pie), being one of the features for me, was disappointing. I've had really good pies, so perhaps I'm comparing a bit, but if it's your first time trying it, I wouldn't recommend judging all Shepard's pies from this one experience. They are usually all different but you expect lots of flavour and particularly good potatoes, more like a crust of them, but here it's like they plopped a wad of mashed potatoes on the stew, their interpretation, yes, but it affected it's flavour. I didn't get enough stew, and it wasn't that thick and heavy like I expected plus a bit too salty overall. The garlic marshes potatoes where under seasoned with not enough crispness like you would get with a crust, but presentation-wise it was quite nice looking since you can actually see the stew before you dig in. Other menu items looked promising like the buffalo chicken wrap with blue cheese that I saw someone else eating. The Killarney club with bourbon smoked turkey and applewood bacon sounded nice too. Or the mo's burger with corned beef, maybe next time. But I can see how all their appetisers and sides would flow well with loud music and drinks, especially a harp or Guinness during their great happy hour specials! The atmosphere and service was pretty cool, more like a typical sports bar with some Irish flare with waiter service about average for a busy eve, nothing that stands out. I think this could be a great hang out spot or place to catch a game! read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! Staff and management are complete scum. Only giving this 1 star because if there was a chance to give NONE, I would. My mom went here with one of her long time best friends and asked for a bottle of wine. Waiter came, poured it, and left the table. The ladies did not like the wine as it had a very bad taste to it so, "terrible" but as their words. So they asked for a different bottle. (here is where it gets good) So the waiter brought the 2nd bottle out, ALREADY OPENED, and sets the bottle on their table. Doesn't even show the customer the bottle label and that it has never been opened yet, (which every nice or semi decent/bar/pub or restaurant does upon ordering a new bottle of wine) and just sets in on the table. Doesn't even poor it for them. So my mom and her friend not waiting for the waiter to come back and poor for them (WHICH YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DO), they decided to poor the wine themselves. After tasting the 2nd bottle, it was also HORRIBLE! Maybe even worse than the 1st!!! So my mom and her friend said "I'm sorry but This wine is not good, it tastes very bad. I'm sorry we cannot drink this." At this point the manager is out by the table and the response my mom and her friend got after asking for a different kind of wine was "I'm sorry we cannot do anything about that bottle because you poured it. So you will need to pay for it" ........ REALLY?! So you're telling me that we have to pay for a wine we didn't even like because your SORRY ASS waiter doesn't know the basics of waiting tables and that you POUR your wine to the guests glass. AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF!!!! The manager said "20% off the bottle is the best I can do." After going back and forth about how we weren't paying for it. We love Mo's. We eat here two or three times a month, but usually during the week. This is the second time we've visited on a Sunday and the food was terrible. We always get the same thing; Mo's burger, medium rare and French Dip. It's usually fresh and delicious. But on SUNDAYS, it's stale fries, hard, dried out buns and severely over cooked meat. We thought the first time was an anomaly but it's not. Whoever is cooking or whatever is happening on Sundays makes us almost not want to come back. The food here is not cheap. Mo's is a noisy bar and restaurant with fairly average food one would expect at a venue of this nature. During my visit I ordered their corned beef and cabbage because it's one of the healthiest dishes on the Mo's menu. I found the corned beef quite tough and the cabbage was definitely undercooked; both should be tender, which was definitely not the case. Mo's is one of these places much like many other chains that sends staff around to remove your plates as fast as possible with the catch phrase, "Get this out of your way". My standard response, "It's not in my way and I'm still eating my meal..." If you are okay with a lot of noise and pretty average restaurant fare than give Mo's a try especially if you live in the Fairfield area since most of the restaurants in close proximity are, generally speaking, quite similar in terms of what they offer in my opinion. read more

Went to their Easter brunch today. What a major disappointment. Paid $130 for four people and ate food that you would find at a Hyatt Place hotel breakfast buffet. Too expensive for what they offered. This meal was closer to being worth $15/person. We were hoping to see more of their Irish menu items in their brunch buffet or at least include the non-alcoholic drinks in the $26/person adult price. Meh. Met up with 3 friends around 6 on a weeknight. We were planning on enjoying the patio and each other's company for a few hours since one of our friend was in from out of town. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. A short time later we ordered our entrees. 15 minutes later our meals are served. When asked about the appetizer the waitress told us she thought they thought they brought is out and would cancel it. Drinks took a while to be refilled. While we were still eating we were each given our checks...? We were planning on enjoying the evening at Mo's, but we were pretty much rushed out. So we assumed the waitress decided for us that we weren't going to order dessert or additional drinks? I would rather take my business elsewhere... where you aren't rushed out. read more

Went to this place for the very first time with friends. Got seated by a hostess but no server ever came to us. Finally after waiting for 15 minutes at our table, I walked over to the bar to get some drinks. Took my wife out for a late lunch and what a fiasco Took my name & email address and said a 10 minute wait. Went into the restaurant and many tables and booths available. Oh by the way, still waiting for their e mail 3 waiters before we ordered an appetizer Only took 15 + minutes for delivery. Ordered food which took another 20 minutes to serve Fish and Chips were fair and told never order again. My Corn beef & cabbage was okay. Uncooked cabbage and manager shows up. We visited this Mo's on 290 today. Although the food was reasonable, the waitress 5216 Paola wasn't very serviceable. She hardly even listened when we needed things. I have been back in Texas for a month and have eaten in many of my favorite places and this service has been the worst I have encountered. Service and food have always been great, but if you're expecting an ADULT night out, venture elsewhere. Apparently here in this area, people completely disregard that some people might like to enjoy a night out at a BAR without it feeling/sounding/looking like a daycare, or Cypress has a shortage of babysitters and so parents just take their kids on their date night. Will return for lunch, but not on a Friday or Saturday "Family night". Update: returned for lunch and service was so ridiculous I can honestly say I'll never return. Table of 5, neglected for too long. Then one persons food was not brought out with the rest. Of the food delivered, most of it was cold. Returned the cold food only to get THE SAME PLATE and cheese still not melted. When we finally talked to a manager she acted offended and put out that she should have to deal w an obvious issue. I have returned here a few times because the atmosphere has potential to be very good. Their staff ruins any potential of this being a quality establishment. The service is absolutely terrible. I could've (should've) gone to a Mexican restaurant where I would've gotten delicious nachos for half the price. Possibly the best comfort food in Fairfield is the Shepards Pie ( a misnomer for a very tasty beef stew) with real (fresh prepared)mashed potatoe topping) and chased by a great St Arnold octoberfest!!! So racist! We ordered and paid for our drinks at the bar, were told to have a seat anywhere that's available. As soon as we sat down, the waitress us that since we were not sat by the hostess that we'd have to move and wait for the next open table (outside, not inside) We explained that we were told by the bartender to sit anywhere...response from manager was to point out which bartender told us so the individual could be fired on the spot...so unprofessional!!!! When we kindly explained to management that we would not want any one to lose their job and therefore would not point out the exact bartender, we were again asked to leave. We asked to finish our drinks (as we paid for them) and the manager rolled his eyes and walked away. Are you in need of a new day care for your kids in the Cypress area? Well, come on over to Mo's Irish Pub! I expected to walk into a mature bar/restaurant, but apparently parents take their children to pubs now ("baby at a bar" x30). Unfortunately, we spent the our dinner leaning halfway over the table to shout at the top of our lungs in order to just have a conversation over the loud screams of children. Be careful where you walk, because you may find that kids are using chairs as racecars in the dining area and running across the wall benches. This behavior wasn't even suitable for a McDonald's playhouse. I expected Management to take care of the problem, but instead the busboy was egging them on. All of the tables around us were annoyed (and shocked!), and I can guarantee more 1-star reviews will be posted soon. Hoping that the food would distract us from the chaos, I ordered the turkey burger and my friend ordered the grilled cheese and tomato bisque included for dipping. He proceeded to cut the sandwich with his knife, but found that they left the paper ON the cheese slices when grilling the sandwich. The waiter apologized and took the grilled cheese to be remade, but he left the soup on the table. Ten minutes later the new grilled cheese came out, but the soup was cold. Then, we waiting longer for a second bowl of hot soup. This entire time I sat waiting for my friend's meal to be brought back corrected, while my plate got cold. At first the service was decent, as our "experienced" waiter would continuously check on us. Please note that even with all of the bad moments, we continued to be patient and friendly with our waiter. It came to the moment when he asked how my meal was tasting, and I proceeded with a positive answer (leaving out the part where my meal was cold from waiting on the other plate to be corrected). However, when I was giving him my positive feedback, I noticed he wasn't even looking at me. No lie, he looks back at me and says word-for-word, "What? Sorry I wasn't paying attention, I was distracted." Seriously? At least lie to me and say something else. We were excited for a new place to grab drinks in the Fairfield/Cypress area, because Lucky's bar down the street was going downhill. However, now I will be more than happy to continue to go back to Lucky's, especially if it means the place won't be filled with children. Not returning. Chips and Queso were GREAT!' Everything else was TRASH! Chicken quesadillas were horrible. The chicken and dumpling soup was a clear broth, with shucked and carrots.
