When Steve and I were cruising around, going to Port Townsend after going to Fort Flagler on…read moreMarrowstone Island we came across we came across the Old Alcohol Plant Inn and were immediately interested in spending some time here, perhaps an overnight stay. After a bit of time passed we did get a reservation here and we had a great time! This Inn was once an old alcohol plant which fell into disrepair and was abandoned for a while but was eventually converted into an Inn. There is a restaurant here but we didn't make it in there to try any of the food. We either came in too late or left too early which was outside of business hours for it so I can't provide any feedback there. I believe the restaurant itself has it's own Yelp entry. Our stay here was extremely peaceful and quiet. We absolutely loved that aspect about it. We slept well and had a great view of the water when morning rolled around. Our stay here I suspect falls in the out of season time and so the reception desk called us to confirm we were coming as it was getting a little bit later and then as the drive back to the Inn was taking longer than we thought we called the front desk to make sure they were still there to receive us. I suspect they do this in the off season so the front desk can close earlier if it's slow. I am not sure if they do this sort of thing when it's not in off season but I suspect they may not as much since it's probably busier. So point being they don't appreciate if you just roll in any old time of the night despite a reservation. It's nothing negative to point out with this but more of a heads up if one considers getting a room here in particular during the off season (which is great by the way... so peaceful and quiet).

My birthday dinner here last night and we were definitely not disappointed! We love this place…read moreanyway, because it is walking distance for us and the view is always fantastic, even on a grey, dreary day. We had heard there was a new chef and the menu was great. It's true - some classics but also some creative, wonderful dishes. Loved the spinach and nettles soup, something I've wanted to try for years. (Now I feel inspired to conquer my own patch of nettles). My birthday drink, chosen for the name, was refreshing, the Chicken Oscar was better than any other I've ever had (so tender), and I was treated to a birthday dessert. The service was outstanding. I see they now serve breakfasts and the menu options look enticing. I can't wait to go back very soon. I hope people in the community realize what a special place this is.
