Good food, lots of options, kids menu, and friendly service. I was impressed at the kid's menu with all their options. My daughter's chicken strips were a big portion and they were tender and juicy. I got a salad with grilled chicken and the chicken was kind of dry. My other daughter got the Tri tip sandwich was a little tough, but the tater tots were crispy and delicious. Sitting outside can be a gamble as there will be numerous seagulls hovering around you. None of the seagulls were aggressive, but I felt like I had to constantly keep an eye out.
Truthfully I want to give a 3, however our server was great so I'm giving a 4. I believe his name is Miguel. Throughout our interaction, he remained professional and cheerful - his great attitude saved the experience. We went inside and were able to get seated immediately. We ordered the calamari, flaming hot chicken sandwich, and battered mahi mahi tacos. We were later informed that they were out of the flaming hot chicken. Bummer since that's what we came in for, but not the end of the world. We switched it for the grilled mahi mahi tacos. Then we were informed again that they just ran out of calamari, so we swapped that for popper bites based on our server's recommendation. The kitchen was backed up but our server communicated that with us and made sure our waters were full. The popper bites are really addictive. Some were a little cold inside but I didn't mind. The grilled mahi mahi tacos were alright - the fish itself was good but the rest of the taco was missing something, I took a bite of the battered mahi mahi tacos and got a shrimp shell. I thought that was weird, then took another 2 bites and same thing- shrimp shells. I was given battered shrimp tacos. Normally I would've let it go and just ate the shrimp tacos, but I couldn't because they all had shells on them. It's really lucky that I'm not someone with a shellfish allergy. I let our server know and he apologized, offered to take the battered tacos off, and replace with something else. I got another set of poppers instead since I knew they were good. I don't think I'd return but I'm happy I gave them a shot. With the food mishaps alone, I would've been greatly annoyed, however Miguel's great attitude saved the experience.
This is one of the only places around staying open past 9pm which is smart since the place was packed to the brim! After a 7 hour drive (usually takes 4) we found this place and stopped in before continuing to our hotel. It's upstairs but they have an elevator left of the stairs. The bathrooms are downstairs by the elevator. Men's room was covered in blood so no effing clue what happened there! Check in at the register and you'll get seated inside or outside with full service. I ordered a Cali Squeeze beer and wife had a cocktail. Both great after the long drive. We started with deep fried pepperjack cheese which is so much better than mozzarella. More places need to serve this! I went with the smoked salmon BLT which was unique. Had a big filet of skin on salmon which was excellent on its own. Add the thick bacon and dill mayo and it really made for a great sandwich. Wife had pulled pork sandwich which tasted like burnt ends. Was excellent. Might have been the fact we were forced to evacuate our home and get stuck in holiday traffic but this was the perfect ending to a chaotic stressful day. Service was on point even with it being a full house.
We had a good time at Morro Grill. The entire staff was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. We sat upstairs, which has a nice view to the rock, but the second floor is not easy for disabled people to get up there. (only stairs) Definitely will be a problem for anyone that has mobility challenges. Overall, service and good food--just keep the stairs in mind!
When you go to a restaurant that knocks your block off!! Coconut shrimp with garlic fries was the main. Great food with a great outdoor 2nd floor seating and million dollar view of the bay. Very lucky to have stumbled upon it while in town. Will definitely come again.
A solid 4 for an early weeknight dinner. Extra credit for being open on a Monday night. Staff very friendly, service a little clunky. Beautiful view of Morro Bay and the Rock. Inside tables were more comfortable for us as sunset was a bright blare and there was a lot of birdy action on the deck. 5 star popper bites, 5 star buffalo chicken salad. The balsamic vinaigrette is more like a Dijon honey mustard. Pastrami was on sourdough (hmmmm) and a little too soggy. A nice sparkling Pinot noir rosé by the glass was $12. Would try again after dark.
Located on the second floor in the Morro Landing building at the north end of the Embarcadero, Morro Grill offers delicious drinks, food and views. Since Morro Grill is located on the second floor, for patrons who cannot or prefer not to use the stairs, an elevator is available at the front entryway. Although a bit compact but cozy and comfortable, plenty of seating is available. There is a combination of seating - indoors at the bar or at individual tables, or on their outdoor patio for dining al fresco, with dog-friendly options. There are three TV monitors above the bar area, as well as two monitors on the opposite wall, all with different programming. Both the indoor and outdoor seating offering fantastic vistas of the bay and Morro Rock. We enjoyed our "Bay Basket" (our choice was the Mahi-mahi filets/Cole Slaw and a garden salad) and a "Salmon B.L.T." with tater tots. Everything was delicious, fresh, and well prepared. Service was spectacular and friendly. They offer a Happy Hour Monday - Friday, from 3pm - 5pm with very reasonable prices on beer, cocktails and wine, as well as a selection of eats.
Visiting my sister and time got away from us so decided to order through DoorDash for a food delivery. My sister stated that Morro Grill was a good place so we took a look at the menu and both ordered one of their bowls and a side of tater tots. Good size portion and we each enjoyed what we had ordered but have to say that the tater tots kind of stole the show. I ordered them extra crispy and recommend them that way they were so good we were craving them again a couple of days later. Prices were a little high in my opinion but we did enjoy the meal.
Clam chowder here is the so delicious! The raw oysters so fresh! Friendly customer service and great atmosphere! Our server Bong Bong (aka James) is an awesome server! Fun and made it enjoyable time! Must try place if you come visit!
Was visiting Morro Bay for the first time with my boyfriend. Place was nice. You seat yourself which I liked. We chose to be outside so had a view of Morro rock. Got some drinks and the Popper Bites as an appetizer. Beware though they came out basically at the same time as our entrees, which always bums me out, but thankfully it paired well with the entree. The Popper Bites were crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. I got the Western Tri tip sandwich and my boyfriend got the Outlaw burger, both with Cali fries. Both were delicious. Food was good. Service could have been a little bit better, sometimes felt abandoned by our server. Other than that everything was great.
Good spot on the water. Came here for lunch with the family. Started with the MB Passion, which was sweet and light on the booze, so don't recommend their cocktails. For lunch, I got the seafood chowder and bay basket with coconut shrimp. Seafood chowder was flavorful, a tad salty, but flavorful. Coconut shrimp was huge and crispy. Brother in law got the Tri tip sandwich, which was a tad dry, but he got a side of bbq sauce, and that did the trick. Service was efficient, and spot was nice being on the water. Recommend the coconut shrimp.
The first time was a big hit. We looked up where to get the best Bloody Mary and this place popped up. Well, that visit it didn't disappoint with the BM. We got seated on the patio looking out to the marina and Morro rock. There was the right amount of hi top chairs for our group. Also it was quite busy during the long weekend and the weather was amazing. So it was perfect outside. Of course the Bloody Mary was in order again. We also found out that it was happy hour which was great. The BM was normal price but they did have some small bites offered which we had as well as a couple of cocktails. Blood Mary was accompanied by olives, pickle onions, peppercini, celery and a slice of bacon. They know what they're doing. We also ordered one of the cocktails but it was just whatever's. Nothing to rave about. As we were having dinner later, an order of the jalapeño popper bites to share. Quite tasty I must say and served with ranch dipping sauce. When it was time to cash out, we had him split the bill for us. But noticed that the pooper bites was rang up the full price instead of happy hour. It was a big difference hence we mentioned it to him. Well, he said he'll cancel it and re ring it up. When the bill came, it was slightly confusing and the popper bites was still more than happy hour price. Also if you're splitting the check in twos, why was one bill way more than the other. Not by a small amount but a good potion. It was odd but whatever. Bloody Mary was good which was the reason of this visit. Patio was quite nice with the view. The bill situation was a little of a hassle but we manage. I'll still come for the drink. And if you're here during sunset, it's front row seat.
First visit though we have walked past this place on the way to Morro Rock maybe 50 times. So happy we stopped this time. We weren't too hungry so we just split two appetizers. We had a Bowl of their Seafood Chowder and the Sweet & Savory Brussel Sprouts. Delicious! We'll certainly be back. They have a great view of the bay from their upstairs deck. There is an elevator available if stairs are an issue. Service was friendly. Presentation was solid, not exceptional but very solid.

Our last stop before heading home, and I'm so glad we came!! Our kids loved their food and I love how it's a family friendly restaurant. The service, food, and views were AMAZING. Also, if you sit outside, watch out for seagulls trying to steal your food--just shoo them away or keep your plate close and don't feed them! lol read more

Hello All, my wife and I went to this establishment August 29th 2025 for lunch. We ordered the seafood chowder and it was amazing. So the next day we went back and had the Baja tacos and the fish and chips. I can't say enough this place puts out some quality food . We will certainly be back when in Morro Bay,the service was on point also shout out to our waiter Joe C and all the crew there.. This place had a great view/vibe inside or out on the deck. read more

My father requested we try this fairly new restaurant, we decided to sit outside! The view is amazing you can see morro rock right in front of you. Today it was 57 degrees, might sound cold. It wasn't! The service rocked, we were waited! Food was exceptional will most definitely be back read more

The food here is absolutely amazing! I won't mention names, but compared to the surrounding clam chowder spots, this is by far the best. I ordered the seafood clam chowder with bacon and cheese so flavorful and perfectly done. I also tried the grilled Brussels sprouts appetizer, and wow... incredible. You will not be disappointed with the food, service, or hospitality. Everything was top-notch, and I can't wait to come back! read more
After a long drive to Morro Bay, we knew we wanted a yummy dinner from a local favorite and found Morro Grill based on some other Yelp reviews. Being that the restaurant is small, they didn't take reservations and the wait was about an hour long. We hung out at the hotel in hopes of cutting the wait time since we didn't want to stand outside at night and that did work. The skies were dark so we didn't get to enjoy any views but I imagine it's beautiful during the day. There was a large celebration happening out on the patio, that overlooks the harbor so available tables were down to the 6 that are inside. There was a bar seating was full as well and the place was alive with energy. Our wait was only about 20 minutes but it took over 45 minutes to get our food, which pushed our dinner into the 8pm hour, and we normally don't do that. I believe it was the large party on the patio that impacted how fast we got our meal. But I can tell you it was worth the wait. We had the All-American Cheeseburger and the Smoked Turkey Club. Although I was not able to snap a photo of the burger before it was devoured, it was a perfectly cooked patty with ample toppings and a super soft bun. It melted in your mouth and came out nice and hot! A must try for any burger lover in your family. The Smoked Turkey Club was fantastic! I shared mine because it was so large (so please note that when looking at the photos). I took photos of my half. As you will see the smoked pulled turkey was right from the bird and was not processed turkey. There was so much turkey piled high that the pieces that fell out, I ate with my fingers as it was too good to leave on the plate. We opted to switch the mayo to a chipotle mayo and it provided a nice heat and kick but wasn't overpowering the smokey flavor of the turkey, the crunch of the bacon or the flavor of the avocado. The French roll was not dry or hard at all and provided a nice way to hold all the ingredients in so you could bite this yummy sandwich. There was no way I could have eaten the whole thing but had I been at home, I would have loved to have the other half for my work lunch the next day. We will definitely go back as I keep thinking about that sandwich and want to enjoy it during the day with a beautiful view of Morro Bay. Morro Grill is definitely on our list whenever we come visit. read more

Let's start with the staff. Such a friendly bunch even their 7 year old nephew that was visiting. Ok now the food, I ordered the double bacon burger. I did make substitutions, I took off the normal condiments and replaced with a garlic aioli and fried onion strings. Oh my gosh so delicious. My husband ordered the mushroom Swiss burger. He also claimed it was delicious. We both had their french fries. The fries were crisp and hot. If you've eaten at the Mainstreet Grill in Cambria the Morro Grill in Morro Bay blows Mainstreet out of the water. The restaurant is small, a bar with a few tables inside and a deck with tables outside overlooking the bay. I definitely recommend trying this place. I know that we'll be back, possibly tomorrow! read more

What a great new restaurant for Morro Bay. Great spectacular View also ! Sea Otters, boats, and Morro Bay rock. I only wish there were more umbrellas set up. Wear your sunscreen and sunglasses! Our waiter and host was a very young girl. She was quick to attend us. The food was good enough. 3 Baja Fish Tacos 4/5 , Wings 5/5 meat was soft and slipped right off ! Bf ordered a sandwich, which he says the bbq sauce tasted like tomato sauce ?? I ordered the Baja fish tacos and I wish either the tortilla or the fish was a bit more crunchy. I also asked a different waiter for an extra lime and never received it ( same for my bf who ordered ranch/bbq). It wasn't busy , so I figured she must have forgotten. Overall , I would come here again when the sun has gone down and order some drinks! read more

It was a pleasure trying this spot out. We were helped by Lucy, she was wonderful. We were seated right when we got there and put our order in really fast as well. They had live music playing it was a very calm and relaxing atmosphere. The Sangria was delicious and refreshing 10/10 recommend. The food was good for the price, everything was nicely presented just lacked a little punch of flavor. Definitely coming back!! read more

A family run business. Everyone was attentive and friendly. We got mahi tacos. Tasty, although the presentation was a little messy. It would have been nice to have them in a taco holder. We ordered garlic parm Brussels sprouts that were delicious. The view of Morro bay was beautiful. read more

Visited on Sat. 4/20/2024 Morro Grill does it again, today was a lovely day and we got to sit outside and enjoy the sun and chill breeze. The staff was ever so kind and very attentive - they were checking in on us and made sure we were comfortable as I had visited with my partner and friends + a baby. OKAY THE FOOD: Did I come back for the caesar trip tip salad? yes, absolutely. Did I finish the salad? NOPE. I had to take the rest of my salad home since we ordered the pepperjack crisps for appetizers (which were a solid 7.5/10 imo but my friend LOVES it). My boyfriend got his usual tri tip sandwich with sweet potato fries- which was DELICIOUS as always- and VERY filling. Probably gonna be back again soon LOL. read more

An amazing setting right on the water. Good was fresh and tasty and service was very good. Not knowing anything about the Morro Bay food scene, relied on Yelp reviews, location and menu...and this place did not disappoint. Buffalo chicken salad had some extra zip in the spice, but was great! read more

Been back a few time and decided to come support for sure now that we are in the off season. Glad to see them just after their 9 month anniversary still doing well. The staff is always friendly and the owner (I believe) was rocking a Steelers overall which was cool and great to see at a sports bar. Can't beat the friendly service and the great location. The food is consistently good here. We try to try at least one new thing each time. This last time I ordered the Grilled Jalapeno Burger with a side salad. We got the mini corn dogs for our daughter and my wife got the Southern Bowl with pulled pork. She was pretty stoked on the pulled pork on power bowl, since it isn't something you see often as an option. The pork was tender, shredded well, and sauced just right, it blended in so well with the power bowl flavors with beans, corn and other veggies. The mini corn dogs are perfect snack size for kids, and the "parent tax". I don't often get a side salad with a burger or sandwich, but I am glad I did. The cherry tomatoes and radishes were such a pleasant surprise, lots of flavor and texture all while being healthy, a smart way to balance out a burger. The Grilled Jalapeno Burger itself was super good. Just a perfect balance with the cream cheese and the jalapenos, spicy enough to make you want to keep eating it and not regret it. Super fresh burger and bun, the chipotle mayo made it a bit messy, but no complaints here. Morro Grill will continue to be one of our go to spots in town. read more
