Luckily a spot at the cozy bar opened and we pounced. The bartender took our order shortly after we sat down and we didn't waste any time ordering clams. They came out quickly and were steeped in the most delicious broth, which we slopped up with soft pieces of bread. Will come back for these for sure. We were still a bit peckish so we ordered crab cakes. They were ok but we wouldn't order them again, had they been hotter may have made a difference. Next time maybe we'll get a window seat to be able to enjoy the view as well as the sumptious dinner.

He took my number down and said he would call in about an hour when to come back. I purposely made my phone super loud so i would hear the call when the table was going to be ready. More than an hour passed so we walked back to check our place in line. He tried to say that he called 20 min ago but he said couldn't remember why it didn't go through and couldn't even come up with an excuse lol. I rechecked the number he wrote down which was correct. I had my partner call me and she had no problem. He promised us the next available seat. Another party after us literally went through the same thing as us where he claimed that he called but I'm sure he didn't. We got seated right away after so I'm glad we came back to check! Our server (i forgot her name but she had blonde hair) made up for it since she was super delightful! Aside from that i was looking for her to tell her it was my partners birthday but i only saw him. I asked if he could tell my server for me and he said yeah! They can put a candle on the dessert we order. He asked me what dessert but i didn't know what the options were yet so he said he would just tell my server anyway and we can pick. Lo and behold, no candle lol. That guy sucks

If I had an issue, the only one would be price. I guess I need to get used to the price of things like food living in a town that draws a lot of tourists. Obviously it's not enough to keep us from returning, but it would be nice if they had a local menu or some kind of discount for people who live nearby. One of the other things that I've always liked about a Hauf Brau is the atmosphere of the restaurant. It's mostly picnic style benches in the center of the restaurant, with smaller tables around the edges. It's just good food in an unpretentious environment.

I'm a little picky about my chile verde since it can either be too spicy or bland. But since there is a page dedicated just to Mexican food, and the waitresses are off Latin descent, I give the chile verde burrito a go. Especially after I ask our waitress for her opinion. I'm glad I did because it exceeded all expectations. The avocado, the salsa, sour cream, it all just worked so well together. I got about 3/4 of the way with it and my daughter finished the rest. She also agreed it was good. My wife got the French toast, which was a bad idea. Not because it wasn't good, she loved it. But because bread makes her sugar spike, and the consequences came strong less than an hour later. To give you perspective, the tortilla on a burrito makes it spike. She knows what it does to her but she does it anyways. No fault of the restaurant. This one was on her. It must have been worth it because she finished her leftovers after her sugar crashed soon after. Everyone else loved their food as well. One thing I wasn't aware of is that they serve cinnamon coffee. When I got my first refill, she asked if I wanted cinnamon. You can be excused for not knowing since I don't even see coffee on the menu, let alone cinnamon. I must have had at least 3 cups in the less than 40 min we were there. Looking around the inside, it's very nice inside. It's not ritzy by any means, but I did enjoy looking around inside. We also discovered a now binge-worthy show to watch that was playing behind us-Worse Cooks In America. I hooked that out was on so patrons would appreciate the good food in front of them. Also on the way out, looking inside the cooking area -all Mexicans. So it makes sense that the food was so authentic. Like I said, we will be back.
