I was looking forward to dining here as my friend had highly recommended it. The server: Handed us our menus, took our drink order, but before going to get them told us we would have to order everything at one time because they were busy that night. I have had restaurants tell me when they would need the table when I made a reservation. I have had restaurants tell me that when I arrived. I never had it announced to me in such a fashion. Just rude. No "I'm sorry but..." Just a statement of fact. When we did order, we asked about desserts and she said there was no need to order them ahead of the meal. Okay..... Got it? Not really. Were there cancellations? What happened to the rush? Anyway, before she went for our drinks, we asked for water. This became a habit, but did arrive shortly after our appetizers arrived. Tables with other servers had filled water glasses before the guests even arrived. I ordered the shrimp tempura as an appetizer. That is not what I was served. After getting her attention (she really didn't want us to get her attention and managed to keep her back to us much of the time), I pointed out it was sushi. She said it was supposed to be sushi. I pointed out it was on the left of the menu, not on the right where the column said Sushi. She claimed that nonetheless I had gotten just what I ordered. I probably got the Tempura Scallop Roll or perhaps the Dragon Roll. But I did not misspeak when I ordered. I said Shrimp followed by Tempura. Shrimp Tempura. Other than that, our dinners were quite good, not great, but I understand why people rate it so highly. I would certainly go there again except for the service. I wish I knew her name so that people reading this would know to avoid her. She asked about dessert. We declined. I wanted out of there. We asked for the check. Somehow, this really rushed restaurant and server was in no hurry to give us our check. Once she did she was in no hurry to take the card even though my friend immediately put his card in the holder without looking at the check and handed it to her. She walked away. Finally she came back to pick it up. Her attitude the entire time was rude. She stood at the bar a lot rather than seeing to us. She said all the right words, when she did speak, but as insincerely as possible. It was like she was reading off one of those scripts that customer service representatives use when on a call or chat. When we left we asked ourselves if we had dressed poorly, if we smelled bad or what could have caused her to treat us so cavalierly. (And we were dressed on a par with other guests and absolutely did not smell bad.) She would be more suited for a diner were it not for the fact that servers at diners are usually friendly, provide quick service and seem to be pleased you are there. read more

I took my wife to Moro's Table for Mother's day brunch. Being familiar with Moro's Kitchen we had high expectations that it would be creative and delicious, we were greatly disappointed. One would think that for $36.00 per head, it would be a cut above Golden Corral. It was but only in the preparation of the food, certainly not in the selection. I wish I could tell you how the food was but after 90 minutes of waiting with nothing more than water and bread our party of 4 with a 630 reservation simply got up and left. The hostess was incredibly inefficient and the waitresses were not much better. Took 10 minutes to be seated, 20 minutes to get water and order taken, and 60 minutes with maybe 2 contacts with any staff. Mind you, we did ask the hostess ... who asked the waitress ... who said they would check and 10 minutes later of nothing they lost over a hundred dollar table. read more

Bartender rude. Restaurant empty on a Thursday night. Mussels taste like they were old or like they were a day past prime... with prime prices.. Owner takes no personal responsibility and defaults to bartender. This WAS a good place that I loved in the past but I would suggest you by pass for other local gems like... Prison City, Osteria Salina or Mesa Grande... all have quallity food good with friendly staff and you will not have to mortgage your house... $102 for 6 mediocre drinks and borderline fresh mussels... shame on you Moro's!! read more

Shrimp and crab cakes were light and perfectly crisp. A unique slaw and delicious aioli rounded out the plate. My wife enjoyed the red curry mussels, was slightly disappointed that there wasn't a little more spice to the broth, though. Farmers market salad was a little bigger than a side salad, would have loved a bit more on the plate because it was a delicious combination of local, seasonal favorites. Beef rib entree was very good. One element on the plate needed a kick of salt, though. Between the carrots, mashed potatoes, and sauce, there was no distinct stand out because they were all seasoned a bit too tamely. Would have been easily remedied on our end if there was salt on the table. Banana tart w chocolate Gelato was very good. We decided that next time we come we are just going to ask for a sampler plate of their Gelatos... the chocolate was amazing. read more

We happened here by strange circumstance after one of our favorite places to get raw oysters was out for the evening! Thankfully they had some on special for the evening. The oysters: delicious but most of them lacked the liquor that I LOVE. They were from st simons island in Canada. The chicken liver crostini: omg!! Some of the best liver I've had and I grew up on homemade chopped liver! I'd come back just for that since you almost never see it! The smoked bacon and mushroom mussels: the muscles were a little over cooked but I can overlook that because the broth was to die for!! I could drink it, it was so good!! There wasn't enough bread on the table to satisfy how much I wanted more of the broth! The service: we had to wait a little bit for a table, it's a smaller place. Food was good no doubt. Portions are european leaving you full but without extra. Decor and atmosphere was also great. Love the ideal. Bar Drink was just okay mulled cider and mount gay rum. However: There discriminated right from the start by seating me and my date next to some slobs in the bar because were only 25. I make 100k+ a year and was well dressed. The wait staff is very young, the waitress was down right rude. Didn't know the menu and not just pointed for me but read the menu back to me instead of answering my question. A kid in shorts and t-shirt walked from the kitchen through the dinning room looking like a slob. The price in comparison to the area is high for the overall experience. A+ to the chef. C- for the wait staff. They need to higher some experienced older staff. read more

My favorite experience this weekend even as the restaurant operates at less than half capacity. Everything was delicious and fresh and great services too. I ordered beet salad, flat bread, mussels in white sauce to start. 3 of us devour the 3 plates as they were super amazing! Ordered butter fried chicken, short rib and steak medallions and they were great too. Pairing these w Negroni , pomegranate martini and mojito. Did I mention great service, our hostess who waited on us is the best and attentive and let us share all the dishes w plates without asking. Always knew when to check up on us and we feel pampered and treated like royals. This is the best restaurant in Central NY. I've been here several times in the past year and have tried a variety of dishes including pommes frites, the braised short ribs, pan seared scallops, beef tenderloin, and mushroom risotto. All of these dishes are excellent, but the pommes frites and braised short ribs are stand outs on the menu. Moro's offers all entrees as small or large plates. I agree with an earlier reviewer - what's sushi doing on the menu? Moro needs to decide what it is. The place was too dark too. Needed a flashlight to read the menu. The waiter was quick to provide one. Must be a problem!?! I am am old guy. What's with the old(er) codger as a greeter and host(ess)? Menu and wine selection was very good. We shared another meal at Auburn's best restaurant, Moro's Table. This time we sat at the bar. Started with a delicious Rose Champagne and those incredible baked oysters. In fact we each ordered our own as we have learned 2 of 4 is not enough. I could eat 12 or more. We also shared the sauteed chicken livers and grilled bread. BOMB delicious. My husband had his go to mussels and frites, I had the 1/2 portion of what they called duck confit. It was more like braised duck lacking the richness of the fat it is supposed to be cooked in AND it was tepid in the middle. Did I complain, no, but I wish I ordered the steak. I appreciate the fact all the entrees are offered in 1/2 portions so my 1/2 duck was $15. We skipped dessert so we could get home on this school night. We rarely eat out much anymore, especially during the week. If you find yourself in Auburn this is the best place to eat in town. I just wish they'd ditch the drop ceiling and industrial tile floor. read more

A surprising gem in the middle of a small town in central ny. Food was cooked beautifully and very tasty. The menu has a wide range of dishes. Prices were very reasonable. The only downside was the ambiance. The restaurant is pretty bland looking. It needs better decor to go along with its delicious food. Excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere... simply the best food in Auburn... making their first feel special giving extra attention to details like writing happy anniversary on the plate... They are always gracious in accommodating special orders for the gluten free or dairy free clients and have a great wine selection! My absolute favorite is the scallops with spaghetti squash.... We went for our anniversary and had an excellent meal. The Red Curry Mussels I had were full of flavor & excellent. I also had the fresh Cod which was very good although I would prefer more of the Zucchini & Basil Mousse which was kind of hidden under bread crumbs. My husband said his Scallops were the best he has ever had. He also enjoyed his Romaine Hearts Caesar salad & wine. I enjoyed an Italian Sparkling Rose that was just perfect with my order. We shared a delightful pear tart with ice cream for dessert with coffee & tea. It was a little noisy because the place was full before some theater event in town. What gem this place is. Cozy atmosphere, friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable staff, and the food--wow! Delicious. I always start with raw oysters, which are not on the menu but always suggested by the server. I've had my share of oysters in my life, and I say without reservation that Moro's mignonette sauce is exceptional. I've thoroughly enjoyed every meal I've ever had here, from surf to turf. Best meal I've ever had. We enjoyed local wines and a local moonshine. A gastronomic experience for my family. Mussels for the appetizer. Lobster and cod bouillabaisse, pan seared scallops, grilled chops. Dessert was pear, apple and berry tart, bread pudding and port wine, all shared. We are from PA, but were passing through Auburn on a trip that included Vermont and the Finger Lakes. We decided to try this restaurant based on Yelp reviews, and we were glad we did. The sauce on the calamari was great, very different. I had a small plate of the scallops and I enjoyed them. For dessert, we split an apple empanada, it was amazing. The overall visit took a bit long, but we found out they were introducing a new computer system. We didn't really care, because we are on vacation, so had nowhere else to be. The food was worth the wait, and our waitress was very friendly. We would definitely return next time we happen to be in the area. read more

I've been wanting to try Moros for years and finally got the chance to. First course of fries and mussels was promising but the salad was absolutely drenched in dressing. It went downhill from there, savory dishes that were very sweet. The fried chicken was eh. I must say the textures in the dishes were nice, some crunchiness, some smooth, some in between which was very nice, but the flavors were generally too overpowering and not very subtle. I was surprised nearly every dish came with a side of potatoes, even the ones that didn't have potatoes listed in the menu. Overall a merely average experience, I won't be making an hour plus drive like others have mentioned, not sure if I would even stop in if passing by again. read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside, Moro's Table is a very clean, and well decorated restaurant. Service was a bit slow, but nothing too out of the ordinary. Food was terrific. The wasabi mashed potatoes that came with the Ahi tuna special were amazing, although the tuna itself wasn't anything to write home about. My grilled salmon plate was also delicious. We had a gift card and made a reservation here on a Saturday night. Parking was easy, and we didn't have to wait at all for our table. That is where the good part of the review ends. I have no idea why this place has such good reviews. Our waitress (and many of the others) were dressed in their street clothes. It is a major issue of mine when a restaurant of this price point does not have uniforms for the wait staff. So that means they are left to their own devices, and for our waitress that meant leggings, a tank top over another tank top and the bra straps showing. There were three of us, we ordered the cheese plate (not much to it, boring/ordinary and overpriced), the grilled angus burger and fries (way overdone) and two of the specials - which were so unremarkable I can't even remember what we had. Portions are small and prices are high in comparison to other establishments. And nothing tasted amazing. If I hadn't had a gift card given to me, I would have been quite angry at spending $150 on this meal. Oh and the gift card was this old used-about-100-times-already gift card - it took them about 20 tries to get the credit card reader to take it. No need to go here again! read more

It was the first night with a new computer system that did seem to slow the ordering process for the staff, which was explained to us. However, the service didn't suffer and our food and drinks came out out quickly. The quality of the food was also great with the highlight being the apple empanada. A small but really well chosen menu, lotsa french influence, moules frites (pronounced excellent by one of us who know from mussels), and sushi. Ya gotta love the USA. There is a great wine list featuring local producers (if you like Chardonnay and have not yet tried finger lakes dry rieslings, you are in for a treat ). We were really impressed by this place. My sister and I had an incredible dinner here recently. We were going to a play at the nearby Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, and my sister suggested we eat at Moro's Table. I'd never been there before, so I was willing to give it a go. And was I glad. We started out with the Fried Green Tomatoes, which were deliciously crunchy--and the very flavorful sauce reminded me of the best Buffalo Chicken Wing sauce. It was followed by a salad of very fresh greens, with roasted pumpkin pieces and a bacon-wrapped thing that was to die for. And that was for starters! My main course was an appetizer-size dish of Cod (I can't remember the exact name of the dish)--and it was literally melting in my mouth! My sister ordered a really good-looking Rib dish, and she thought it was excellent. In short, Moro's Table is a fantastic place for fresh and unique dishes. Kudos to Chef Moro, and his great staff!! And I definitely want some more Fried Green Tomatoes. :) read more
