5 Stars doesn't even come close. It was Saturday, February 25, 2023, when we were blasted with the most snow that we've seen in i don't know how many years.
Against my judgement and begging, my husband left home at 5:30am to head to south OC. It was miserable out.
He got on the 14 Frwy South and the traffic was backed up already. Second guessing his decision to continue. He passed his first 2 exits as he was asking himself if he should exit and go back home and he didn't. Continuing in the stop and go traffic, he put his car in park due to No traffic movement and when it was time to move he couldn't get the car out of park and to make matters even worse the heat stopped working.
All the cars on the frwy had now moved on, as the CHP shut the frwy down... Both north and southbound lanes. My husband was now deserted.
He called AAA... the 1st time and they just never showed up, the 2nd time they couldn't get to him. So as he's freezing sitting on the desolated frwy he called 911 and they were busy. At this point he was now stuck on the frwy for over 2 hours.
Ohhhh not to mention the 2 CHP officers who drove right past him as if they didn't see him when he was the ONLY car on the frwy. You know who you are
we literally just got him the new i-phone when he realized there was the SOS feature and he used that, which got him a call from a 911 operator. She was able to get ahold of Moro Towing. The tow truck driver Luis Murcia called my husband and even though CHP had the frwy shut down Luis made it his mission to get to my him.
Now... The CHP actually told Luis that he was not allowed to get on the frwy bcs of the shut down and Luis told them... This man has been stranded now for over 3 hours with no heat and he was going to get to my husband to help him. The CHP officer advised that he was then going at his own risk and he did just that!!!!
He was like and angel when he pulled up to my husband. He got out of his truck, my husband told him what was wrong with the vehicle and the 2 of them teamed up to accomplish what needed to be done (which needed one in the car and one under). So Luis climbed under and did impeccable temporary repair and got him off the frwy after my husband was now stranded for over 4 hours!!!
And guess what...?! He asked my husband if i get you fixed and off the frwy will you be okay because there was another stranded person down the road that he also wanted to help.
Lesson for all the other so called pro's out there.
So a big thumbs down to the 2 other AAA company's that just blew him off and a bigger thumbs down to the 2 CHP officers who literally just passed him by.
Luis!!!! OMG Thank You!!!! This is so far above and beyond what all the others didn't do. Without you how long would he have sat there, in the middle lane no less ...for who knows how long. Oh! and I at home in complete panic for my husbands safety and not freezing to death.
Here you go! Check out this hero!
I'm just saying go with the others or go with who you know you can trust and depend on!!!
