Yummy and delicious fries served up hot and fresh made per order. I had a small order of fries and it was more than enough to sit and snack on. Came with one sauce to dip and I had the curry ketchup which hit just right. Reminded me of when I had fries and curry sauce in Berlin. Also, for $5 it was a cheap deal. Nice counter staff and my order was ready quickly. Located in the Dekalb Market Hall. read more

Came for the $5 fries and $5 beer deal they have every day from 3pm to 5pm. Well, unfortunately the fries were a little bit more burnt that I would like. I asked for the two more popular sauces and they were whatever. One of them tasted like anis? Not pleasant. The quantity is very generous and the deal itself is actually pretty good. They only offer one beer for the HH deal. The bartender was giving my husband some attitude when he asked for water and ketchup. read more

Came for happy hour for their $5 fries and $5 beer deal and was not impressed. For a place that specializes in fries, I was expected to be blown away but these were mediocre. They let you choose 2 special sauces which were both not tasty so we had to ask for mayo. The server wasn't polite and give me a side eye when asking for mayo and a cup of water. Beer was normal but overall experience makes me not want to come back. read more

When im downtown I always try to stop by the food court and try different vendors. Moritz was my new try and it did not disappoint. The lentil soup is the bomb and the fact its organic is a plus. Now the chicken sandwich is tender and crispy. Just make sure you have extra sauce that the sandwich comes with to put it over the top. read more

Service at Moritz is really hit or miss and ordering online is also no guarantee that the food is ready in time or prepared as requested. The left out the extra parmesan, didn't add the extra sauces to the bag. The guy at the checkout first argued when I pointed out the shortcoming, before reluctantly providing the missing items. The fries are still good and I liked the chicken, though the cucumber salad was more lettuce than cucumber and thus not at all authentic German. read more

Got the Dutch fries. It had decently good flavor, just nothing wow about it. Fries were somewhat very dry and overly crispy/hollow yet also soft and soggy from the sauces at the same time. Overall not even close to the best I've had but for the area this will suffice for $8-$13 meal but not crazy fan of it. Not sure if their fries are better but it is on the pricier end as well read more

Horrible spot. My partner and i were enjoying our meal from next door and the Hispanic worker stops me to tell me we are going to hell. I explain to him that's his right to believe that but it's inappropriate for him to be tell random people that unsolicitedly. I asked him for a manager he wouldn't tell me and then i asked him his name and he wouldn't tell me. I recorded the situation and tried to report it to a higher up but no one was available. Do not support this business especially if these are the people they are hiring. This was Sunday 7/26/26 at 6PM. read more

I was drawn in by the $5 fries on Friday deal.So I stopped in the staff was cordial and focused. Every plate was made to order even on my fries. They reminded me of the fries. You get at little car rental shops in Germany. The fries were tasty, not to greasy and they were fresh, cut from potatoes. I ended up taking a portion home, it was a lot of fries. read more

it's annoying that I can't go here at the Fulton Mall location unless specific staff is there. I will watch them serve men quickly and then when its my turn, I'm a woman, they ignore me. It's happened multiple times and I'm tired of it. All of a sudden they can't see and don't think they should have anyone at the register. Only when a specific gentleman is there, I believe his name is Mohammed, is when I'm treated like I have value. Multiple people ordered what I ordered and I was the only one given a small tray versus the take out container. When I asked for a take out container the staff member gave it to me to put my food in and shrug as if he doesn't know how to put the food in the container. I didn't bother asking for a bag because you have to open it your send as you struggle to hold your food. I wish I didn't enjoy the food, but at this point isn't not worth patronizing even after the two years I've been a consistent customer there. Playing the hope game makes it not worth it. Tried this place for the second time and it's located in the food court on the lower level. Their fries are amazing and the pesto sauce hit the spot. I ordered the loaded fries with chicken and the fries were so flavorful and seasoned. The chicken slices looked different from the picture but was still good. However, they were a cut in thin strips and not what I expected but the flavor was there! Such a great snack read more

We ordered chicken sandwich with tater tots and cucumber salad - the food was good, but the guy at the counter spoke too quiet for a place where music plays non-stop, so our order got mixed up. Double checking the order is recommended, as they billed us for the wrong items, and gave us fries as a side for the sandwich instead of the salad. They also didn't give us the sauce for the tots, though they asked which one we wanted. The food was fine, just that they didn't serve us the right items made the experience worse. read more

Order truffle fries while I was walking around the Dekalb market and needed a side for my other foods. Honestly, they were fine. Not bad, not great, but did the job. Service wasn't particularly friendly, price was a litttttle high. It's hard to say I'd go back when there are a lot of stronger options within the market that I prefer over Moritz. read more

The woman taking orders behind the counter with the glasses on was incredibly rude. She barely looked up from her phone to take the order, let alone to double check the order after it was placed. Not only did she give a ton of attitude, but when the order came out, it was missing fries and the sauces. When asked about where the missing fries were, she said "uhhh you didn't order fries". After checking the order, she gave attitude yet again and then reluctantly had the fries made. Once they were done, she slammed them down and rolled her eyes. i got two things: happy hour signature fries, and the 3 piece chicken tenders. fries were normal! not bad for 5$, esp with how delicious the in-house sauces are. would buy again. as for the tenders...it felt like i was being pranked. they are each the size of maybe 2.5 chick fil a nuggets... might as well make nuggets at that point. not worth 8$ at all!! would pay 4-5$... i liked the spices but otherwise... :( the employees seemed a bit aloof and like they didn't know the menu. i had to remind them it was happy hour for the discounted fries. messed up on my sauce count, but i went back and got what was missing. not worth it unless the prices go down a bit.. taste wise it's pretty good though! read more

The regular fries were just okay. It comes with a lot so it's great item to share with a group but there's nothing special about the fries. They're an average potatoes. The dipping sauces do help make it but not sauces are good. I don't remember what sauces I ordered the green one was really good compared to the mustard sauce. Got the loaded fries with brats got extra brats. It's got remoulade and curry ketchup, chopped onion, chives and of course thinly sliced bratwurst bites. Honestly, it's mediocre but I'm not mad about it. One thing I did note is that the person working was prepping as well as cooking and seemed PRETTY frustrated that she was getting a rush of patrons. This was my first time in Dekalb Market, and honestly, Moritz would not have been my first, or even second choice. We split the Frank loaded fries, and separate salads.. green salad, and german cucumber. In my opinion, there was little too much sauce on the fries, and the salad was overdressed. That being said, the fries were very well cooked, and the service was excellent! Moritz is a nice spot to pass by in the Dekalb Food Market, where you want to grab a quick side to accompany a main course or you feel like settling down for a full meal. I ordered the loaded chicken fries with the intention of grabbing a sandwich of some sort in order to mix and match a little bit. It turns out that the loaded chicken fries are quite the attraction on their own. The fries themselves have a decent crunch and were nicely salted. The sauces also gave me the right balance of sweet and savory. Usually I wouldn't be too fond of ketchup when it comes to loaded fries, but they really made it work here. The chicken wasn't ideal for me: I was hoping for a bit more texture. But for what it was, it got the job done. Tastes great and goes well with the fries and sauces. Overall, this was a job well done. I'd definitely love to return to try some more menu items here. read more

Moritz - Loaded chicken fries - German Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Stopped by for a quick bite pre Trader Joe's visit, located in the Dekalb Food Hall, Moritz gives you a taste of Austria. I love French fries and could make a meal out of them, thus I did, with a side of schnitzel. There are a few options on the menu: twice cut fries, loaded fries with Berlin ketchup and sausage, truffle and Dutch with onions. Me, I'm a plain fry girl, thus, ordered the twice cut fries with the skin on and a very auspicious and daring sauce on the side: mayonnaise. I also ordered the schnitzel wrap with red cabbage and their aioli remoulade. First the fries: loved the skin on them, crisp and the best part: not greasy! They are pricey at $7 for a small order $14 for a large! ( tater sticker shock) The schnitzel was just okay and disappointing: I have dined on the most delicious schnitzel in Vienna and was always moist and fried to perfection. Here, the cabbage and sauce overpowers the chicken so I really couldn't taste it.. the next time I will just ask for the schnitzel with you guessed it mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato if they can allow for substitution. The space itself is small and the server was really preparing multiple meals solo.. I give him credit. I will be back.. the fries are the main draw and it had me singing just like Fraulien Maria in the Sound of Music! Al vita Zane! read more

I usually come to the Dekalb Market Hall to try out different food that are available out there, but this time it was Moritz, and let me tell you; For a place that calls itself a specialist in French fries, I was very disappointed, a third of the portion was just soggy, another third was burnt, the other third felt very normal, nothing too crazy about them. read more

People are predisposed to liking fries. It's hard to be disappointed with carbs deep fried in fat and garnished with salt. Unfortunately, the fries at Moritz accomplish just that-- disappointment! Located in the basement of Dekalb mall. This is one place I know of in brooklyn that has pomme frites.. it's good! Truffle fries smallest size can still be good for 2 people. It has...potential. I'll start by saying the worker was very kind and was doing his best. He was the only one the job, taking orders and making the food. So the wait was long but he should have had help. As far as the food, it really did taste good but you might not get what you expect. I looked at the menu online before going to check it out. The "Hot Dog" sounded good, listed on the website as a Toasted Pretzel Bun with Bratwurst or Wienerwurst, served over Sauerkraut with Bavarian Mustard and Curry-Ketchup. The in-person menu just said "German sausage with curry ketchup in pretzel bun." I was told I could only get a Wienerwurst. No worries, I was happy to get a German wurst in a pretzel bun, nothing special. Instead... The pretzel bun was flattened in a panini grill. It came topped with plenty of lettuce and red cabbage. No sauerkraut though. The sausage was laid on top and drizzled with curry ketchup and a couple other things. Again it tasted good but it was an odd way to serve it and wasn't m as described. A bit complicated to eat too. I also ordered the German cucumber salad, described on the website and in-person menu as a "lightly pickled fresh cucumber salad." I love German food so knew what this was...but instead I was served a side salad with cucumbers on it. I asked the worker about it and he said "I don't know that's how my manager told me to make it." I can't blame him for doing his job but it wasn't a pickled German cucumber salad. Again, it tasted good but it wasn't what was on the menu. My boyfriend ordered the loaded fries and there were no surprises there. Maybe I'll give it another try and just know to expect some surprises along the way. At the end of the day it was yummy food, just not the food I expected based on the what the menu says. read more

A little over priced for average food hall/market food. We ordered the chicken schnitzel sandwich, a sausage, and truffle fries. Despite the comments, the fries were actually pretty good, crispy and fresh, good truffle flavor but not too overpowering. Chicken was crispy, the pretzel bun was a good twist, but the sausage was meh. Other than the price, it was not as bad of an experience since we are at the spot and the sauces came on the side. read more

Would give it a zero if I could. Didn't even get to eat the food. Sat there in front of the gentleman who was fixing two of the computer screens mounted said he would be with me in a minute, then walked away to I guess where the register was to take someone's order who I just walked up. I waited for my turn and then I asked him if I could get truffle fries and then add a schnitzel. He told me there was no. I said well I can I get the regular fries with the schnitzel and be up charged for the truffle and he said no you cannot do that. I asked him can he do an open food for it or whatever the amount was, and the answer was no. Which is ridiculous because you have all of those things so you just basically lost the sale. I recommend to the owner to make it an option so it reflects on your inventory if that's the issue. I don't want to just eat french fries and I'm not gonna order another order of fries and chicken just to have truffle fries. It's just silly business.. read more

Solid fries with very friendly staff! The large was a box stuffed with hot, salty fries. Will definitely be back.

Mortiz is both reasonably price & pretty good as bar food, meaning the food goes well with beer, unfortunately I did not realized they served beer until after my meal was done. I enjoyed the truffle fries which were well seasoned, not overly greasy a nice balance of crisp to crunch & left a pleasant aftertaste. I also tried the German Dog which was a brat with kraut, lettuce, on a pretzel bun mixed with the sauces & stone mustard to give a good after taste. Next time I will definitely have a few beers to really enjoy the full eating experience. read more
