Absolutely terrible experience. Ordered all you can eat on a Friday night, more than half of the things we ordered never showed up and the appetizers were extremely small. Left a few pieces of a couple rolls behind and was told we'd need to pay for what we didn't eat. I ordered 5 rolls, on a regular day I eat 3, so 5 seems reasonable for an all you can eat where you should be able to try new things and sample a bit. I explained this isn't stated on their QR menu, and due to health reasons, I can't eat that much food all at once, but would happily sit there for another hour in an attempt to finish off my plate. The waitress very condescendingly said "ok well now you know for next time..." . Although, after this, there won't be a next time. Quite a shame because I enjoyed their takeout and ordered as recently as last night. I will be bringing my business up the street. read more

This was my second time at Mori Sushi and I can say that the quality has severely gone down. I was given food in paper bowls and soup in drinking cups. The lighting and ambience did not contribute to the enjoyment of my meal. The food left me with mixed opinions, the hot cooked meals were very tasty but the sushi and sashimi did not taste fresh. The staff however was extremely friendly and helpful. Overall, I was rather disappointed by the quality of the food. read more

The reason I am giving a 3 star is because of the service my friends and I received. We traveled from 3 hours away and stopped there to have a nice dinner and our waitress JoJo did not pay mind to us at all. When we were ready to order we had to get her attention. We thought she was very rude and inconsiderate of the customers she was handling; she just seemed like she was in a bad mood. Mori Sushi just opened, and I'm pleased to be the one to add them to Yelp and submit the first review. We had the pleasure of dining at Mori tonight and we'll be back. Order from the menu or opt for the all-you-can-eat for $25. We did all-you-can-eat and felt it was good value if you're hungry. The only stipulation is that you eat all that you order otherwise you may be charged menu price for what you leave over. Our advice, order a little bit at a time....you can always order more. The all-you-can-eat is ordered on paper menus...you fill them out with the provided pencils. One sheet is from the kitchen, with soups, salads, appetizers, entrees and desserts, and the other menu is from the sushi bar, with sushi (nigiri), sashimi, basic nori rolls and specialty rolls. Nice selection but I thought the speciality rolls were a little heavy on tempura fried ingredients rather than raw fish. We ate a lot . Spicy fish soup was delicious. The gyoza, shumai, yaki tori apps were delicious, and the specialty rolls, sushi and sashimi were all great- nice and fresh. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Very contemporary design, chic and tasteful. Lots of tables and lots of room at the sushi bar. Service was attentive and gracious. Came here last Sunday for a late lunch/ early dinner with my bf and my two friends. Masa in Princeton recommended Mori to us last time we were in as it is under the same ownership and closer to where we live. It is definitely not as busy as Masa but not dead by any means, which is nice since Masa can become insanely busy on the weekends with long waits. The parking lot is also less hectic. The all you can eat menu is identical to Masa's and the quality was the same! Anyone not familiar with Masa, the all you can eat option is not a buffet and you select the items that you want from a sheet and the sushi is made fresh to order and brought to the table. All of the usual options are there, including kitchen items such as dumplings, noodles, hibachi, and soups. Sushi, sashimi, and sushi roll options are vast and tasty. We definitely had our fill of sushi and dumplings, with everyone's tastes satisfied :) Service was prompt and polite and we wanted for nothing. The lunch price was $18.95 each which is more than reasonable (dinner is $24.95 each, which I personally find is not worth it as the differing menu items are not vast or of interest). Pleasantly shocked: an all you can eat sushi place that also has sashimi, soups, noodles, tempura, dumplings, salads, specialty rolls, green tea ice cream, and green tea included in the price. Unluckily for them, they charge 1/2 price for children shorter than 55"; our kids eat a lot, as do we. Lunch was $18.95/adult, $9.50/kids. For lunch, we ate: 2 miso 5 tempura shrimp 1 seaweed salad 2 green barley teas 3 gyoza 1 spicy tuna hand roll 4 salmon sashimi 6 white tuna sashimi 2 squid sashimi 4 red snapper sashimi 2 surf clam sashimi 1 Spanish mackerel 1 mackerel 1 dragon roll 1 Newport roll 1 edamame calamari nuggets? not sure, but they were good 2 green tea ice cream The place is good. I'd like to try some udon next time, as well as the miso eggplant appetizer. If you have boring kids who don't eat anything real (I pity you, really), they have have chicken nug nugs or fries. I think there are things like chicken katsu--I did pull the menus to take home to eye things for our next lunch. The place is clean. Simple lines, high booths--good, so you never have to see the other people dining. NO TV! WOO! We really liked the place. I felt like we needed to roll out of it since we ate a lot. The service was prompt, servers pleasant and efficient. The table was cleared when we were finished. Warning: they may give you less than you order, ie we initially ordered 2 spicy tuna handrolls and 2 tempura shrimp, they gave us 1 each. So we ordered more food, of course. Some items are only available at dinner time. I'm afraid we might get banned if I go with friends, as we all eat a lot. They also take a little bit of time before letting you order a second time--we know that it takes 18 minutes for your stomach and brain to indicate that you are full, and this technique works to their advantage. There's a note that you could get charged for wasting food on the all you could eat menu--hey, that's fair, they don't want you ordering food to take home and no one needs to simply waste food. The fish is fresh--nothing funky, no weird smells. No extra charge for wasabi, like at Midori, where the manager is obnoxious & rude. The place is good. Not as good as our favourite places in Princeton, NY, Miami, or Chicago, but very good. Honestly, the pieces should be slightly smaller to get a better flavour from each cut, but this is America, where we all eat too much. I think it's $10 more pp for dinner. $60, including tax for a family that could eat their weight in sashimi. read more

The Bento box lunch special ($9.95) is a great deal! This offering comes with a main entree, plus salad & soup, Shumai, California roll & white rice. What I really appreciated is that they were super accommodating with making the box vegetarian-friendly. I substituted an avocado roll for the California roll and vegetable gyoza for the shumai, which the waitress was happy to oblige with. I got the Vegetable Yaki Udon as my main entree and enjoyed the mix of noodles and vegetables (it was my first time trying Udon). The avocado roll and gyoza were also good. Their food is amazing and authentic. Imagine a better, and more innovative version of Sushi Pal*c*. Fresh sashimi, well cooked food (not overdone, or too dry). Their kimchi soup has scallop, squid and a big fat shrimp all in a pretty big bowl, big surprise for me. As long standing customers here I'm quite appalled by the service at Mori. As I'm on a strict diet i asked for brown rice which they ran out of. I then asked if i could order off the main menu which i was told i would be charged for the all you can eat (which i did not touch or even order at that point) and the additional entree. I asked to speak to the manager who then had no interest in listening to her customer (again we are long standing weekly customers). We then received an order of shrimp shumai which clearly had shrimp which were not cleaned as you could see it through the dumpling wrapper. Needless to say we will not be returning here. read more

If I were to give a rating on the food alone, it would be 4.5 stars but when you go to a restaurant, it's also for the experience, ambience and to be waited on. Though the restaurant is nicely decorated, the staff interaction feels cold and impersonal. Not sure if it's because we went for lunch but we were surprised when our tea was offered in a paper cup. Then, our miso soup came out in a paper bowl. Contradictory to that, our lunch came out in a nice rectangular dish that one would expect for a sushi meal. Prior to Covid I absolutely loved this place. The sushi was wonderful. I would eat there at least once a week. Sushi was fresh and melted in your mouth. I hate to leave a bad review but I've been there twice this last month and found the sushi smelled like fish. fresh sushi doesn't smell like fish. In fact, store bought fish from the seafood counter should not smell fishy. The last two times I've been I needed to use the restroom after eating. I will not go back. I loved this place. Can here many times in the last 7 years of living in neighborhood. Supported this restaurant all though the pandemic. But on 3/13/22 came in for a quick lunch with my family of 3. We usually order from the ayce menu so we can try different more riskier food items. My wife did not like what she ordered and was charged a $7 penalty. I told the manager my wife did not like what she ordered and for me to play and leave. I told him I come here all the time and we leave about the same amount of food on the plate. Again I was told I need to pay and leave. At no time was I expecting not to pay from my food or expecting to get anything free. I just wanted to explanation why was this time different than any other time. So $77 later I paid for a tall 7 year old two adults so that's three full price all you can eat lunch items plus $7 penalty. I told them politely that they were losing a frequent customer I don't think they cared. read more

I was very excited to try Mori Sushi because I've seen their ads in US1 and I've heard great things, but it was so disappointing. We made a reservation for two, purposely after dinner rush, on Valentine's Day and we traveled out of the way to get there because we wanted to try it. We got there and after multiple employees walked past us without acknowledgement, we were seated. For some reason, they gave us only one menu, and we couldn't get anyone's attention so my boyfriend got up to get another. We sat for a little over 15 minutes and no one took our drink order or even looked like they were planning to come over for it. We've both worked in service positions before so we're usually pretty patient, but it wasn't like they were crazy busy at the time. I made eye contact with employees at least four times, trying to get someone's attention, yet still, no one came over. The menu looked great, but after being ignored like that, we didn't even want to give them our business anymore. We ended up just getting up and leaving, and I don't even think anyone noticed that we walked out until after we were gone. It was pretty sad because I was very excited; I love sushi and love trying places I haven't gone before. I believe they're connected to Masa in Princeton and I've had the takeout there a few times, which was good. But this was just a bad experience. I've never gotten up and left a restaurant after sitting down. I assume this was an isolated incident since Mori has such good reviews everywhere; I'd hope so at least. read more

Found this place 2 years ago. Gets better each time we go. Sushi is amazingly fresh. Nice presentation. Only thing that annoys me, I have a very tall 8 year old that eats just like a kid should. Last time we went, they asked her to walk to the height chart and wanted to charge her for a adult meal price. She eats chicken nuggets and dumplings. I finally decided to try out Mori Sushi to satisfy my craving and to finally see what the hype was, and to put it bluntly, I was very disappointed. Their sushi was sour and had a really strange texture, their miso soup was extremely watered down, and there was even something wrong with the Coke I ordered. I mean, I guess that's how they're able to keep the "All You Can Eat" lunch and dinner special. Along with the bad food, I also felt really stressed while eating. The people working there would walk around the restaurant and watch everyone eat with suspicious eyes (which I sort of get: so no one abuses the "all you can eat" special) but it created a really uncomfortable and stressful environment and experience. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone or encourage anyone to eat here. read more

Out of all the AYCE sushi places I have been to, I'd say this one is the best. I went for lunch and the lunch deal was pretty good. My friend ordered a couple of the special rolls but I stuck to more simpler rolls and sushi. I was really happy with the quality and taste of the sushi. I was worried since sometimes the quality of sushi at AYCE places isn't great, but the fish here tasted fresh. The only thing I'd change is the special roll options since a lot of them to me didn't sound too appealing other than the rainbow roll. But aside from that, I was very happy with my meal and would definitely come back. read more

We are getting some nicer place in Skillman and this is one of them. Buffet is ordered off menu which means it's made fresh and therefore better than other buffets that sit for 2 hrs. Great selection, of rolls and appetizers all included on buffet. $25 for dinner and kids under 4'6" half price. The only catch is the threat of charging more for those who don't eat the rice balls or over order and don't finish. I'm shocked that I'm giving a sushi place 4 stars because I don't generally like sushi (it would be 5 stars but the service was horrendous, more on that later). HOWEVER, the menu caters to all tastes. In terms of sushi, the people I was with all raved about their rolls, sashimi, and appetizers. I don't eat seafood, but I still has a ton of food to choose from. I chose: chicken teriyaki, veggie roll, veggie gyoza, tempura vegetables. Everything was delicious and there was plenty more for me as a non-fish eater to choose from. My only complaint would be that my veggie roll was on the serving plate with the rest of the sushi, therefore right up next to the sashimi. My friends quickly moved it out of the way so the flavor didn't mix too much. Our server was awful, to be honest. She came to the table and we could barely hear her. It took such a long time to get glasses for our wine/beer and even longer for water. She didn't speak up enough for anyone to hear her. When we finished, we sat at the table for so long trying to find someone to bring us the check. We were able to get the attention of a different waitress, our original server nowhere to be found. Moved to Montgomery half a year ago. It is not easy to find a good Asian restaurant in this area and Mori Sushi is the one we will go if we don't want to drive a long way to Edison. The food is good and fresh. My two years old son loves the gyoza so much that he can eat nine of them every time we are there. read more

I actually give Mori Sushi 3.5 stars. As of this review, there are now two places in Skillman for Japanese fare and the newest, Mori Sushi, is worthy of serious consideration. The decor is the first thing you notice and it's very tastefully done. Modern with a hint of traditional. The Sushi bar looks especially inviting. The background music could be turned down a notch but that is nitpicking. We had the all you can eat dinner which is reasonably priced at $25/person. They ask, and rightfully so, that you only order what you can eat. You order off of a paper menu checking off boxes from an extensive list of soups, salads, appetizers, sushi, sashimi, rolls, and specialty rolls. There could be a few more choices for the specialty rolls but what is there is prepared in an imaginary way and is quite good. We sampled the spicy seafood soup which was really good. It had a good peppery flavor and a nice change from traditional Miso soup. We passed on salad. We did enjoy a couple of hot appetizers from the kitchen which were prepared to our liking and very tasty. In addition, we ordered a portion of yellowtail sashimi, and a few individual pieces of sushi which were were generous in size. When we do Japanese, we love the specialty rolls of each restaurant. While there wasn't a huge selection of them, maybe about 12-15, it is plenty to get a good flavor sampling. We enjoyed four different specialty rolls, and each was delicious. We definitely got our money's worth here and if you can eat a good bit of sushi, you will too. Don't fill up on the appetizers, etc. Save room and pace yourself. There is no rush and you can make as many orders as you want and can finish. I look forward to going eating there again and again. read more

A wonderful new find for the wife and myself. We usually make the trek to Masa, but they are usually busy and quite loud. We came here on a Friday night and thought we'd be waiting a while. We walked in and the place was fairly empty. Service was great. It was nice and quiet too. The two of us could have a nice conversation without having to say "what?" Or yell. If you're familiar with Masa sushi in Princeton (on Route 1, near the Home Depot), this is pretty much the same thing (same owner, similar decor and menu). We went for lunch and went with the All-you-can eat deal: It's not a fabulous value, but it's okay if you like sushi. The food was excellent though and that's what counts. The setting is clean and modern, not bad at all. I particularly enjoyed the Mango roll and the Mexican roll (from the special rolls section). read more

Saw this new place in the same mall while I go to my frequent pizza joint (Genteels) and decided to head over for dinner with the fam on a Sat night. Called for 8pm and the guy on the phone said no need to reserved just come so I did. The place is modernly decorated (like Masa 8) good for a date night. When I got there there was about 3 tables (2, 2, and 3) and I thought ok, this place is new so prob nobody knows yet and plus will get great service and food since not busy like Sushi Palace. Well I was right about the food but no so with the service. The waitress/hostess puts us on the corner table by the kitchen and I was thinking this place is empty and why you sitting us by the kitchen ? I asked politely if I can move over and the other waiter said no problem. They have 2 menus (ayce or a la carte). I opted for ayce ($25) since I can try a bit of everything. Now for the food: We ordered shrimp and veggie tempura, chicken katsu, agedashi tofu, and ramen. Food from the kitchen were fast and nicely prepared. Fried stuff were non-greasy and light. As for the ramen, it was ok but don't expect Rai Rai Ramen quality. Now for the fish, we ordered ceviche, some sushi (yellowtail, tuna, salmon) all were good and fresh. Salmon, white tuna, mackeral, and grouper for sashimi. I didn't like the grouper (a bit fishy) but the rest were ok. We ordered a bunch of makis and they didn't disappoint either. I just find the sushi rice was missing some vinegar but this is ayce and can't expect too much right ? Service wise for a deadish Saturday the waiters/waitresses were just huddled by their work station and chatting about. I had to raise my hand to get their attention for water, tea, etc... I could understand if it was packed full but there was 3 tables?!?! Guess they would need some more training and pay more attention to the clients. The food selection is not as abundant as Sushi Palace nor is it as noisy but I am glad there's an alternative for ayce closeby. Oh and it's BYOB so don't forget to get your bottle across the street in the Montgomery Shopping Center. read more

There were so many delicious options to choose from so it's nice to splurge a little for sushi. The gyoza was decent (as the owner is Chinese) and the ice cream was very artificially flavored. The all-you-can-eat buffet is a great bargain, and the quality of the sashimi is better than that of Sushi Palace: the white tuna is amazing, and the salmon melts in your mouth! This is a fine AYCE sushi place. I think I would agree it's not the top top notch highest-quality fish in the world, but it's fine. Everything tasted clean and fresh, which is what you want. They have some interesting raw selections, like red clam and squid, that you often only find cooked, if at all. Squid's really weird raw, but at least now I've had it! (I also had the BBQ squid app, which was a bit chewy but really fun and tentacly.) I've docked a star because both of our orders ended up not quite right - missing a couple pieces, the wrong number of certain pieces. How hard is it to look at a list and check items off? But of course if you don't get what you want, you can always order more! It's nice to have dessert on there too. Even if you're not the biggest eater, an app, entree roll, and dessert is still not a terrible deal at $19, or I think you could go a la carte if you really wanted. But why? The best part of AYCE here is the ability for everyone to share and try something new. I'd go back for this great value and well-executed concept. read more

Average sushi place. We ordered out a couple of times, in both instances the preparation was average. I questioned the freshness of the sushi, salmon specifically both times. The roles were prepared below average by gauge. The establishment itself is in a newer strip mall, and is clean and well decorates inside, nothing overly complex, simple and casual. There are other local sushi places which offer better quality food for very similar prices. While I haven't done the all you can eat offering they have one...I imagine part of their popularity is this all you can eat offering which you cannot find at other sushi restaurants in the area. read more

Finally got to try this place. We got here around 5pm on a monday, we were the first customers so service was fast and okay. Food came out fast, but the tom yum soup that I ordered took a while. I don't really like the miso soup here, but the ramen and tom yum soup were good, also the chicken curry is more of a thai style (I thought it would be japanese curry, but it's good flavor so no complaints). I love their calamari and the dipping sauce, probably the best of the 3 NJ places that I tried (Sushi palace, sushi kingdom). The fish were good, salmon was nice however they never brought out my mackerel :( the inari may be old as it had a stronger vinegar taste than usual. I like the salmon, fresh and fatty, however I was disappointed about the eel. They don't have any eel sushi or sashimi, probably due to the bad quality eel they used. The green tea ice cream was also below average, not creamy, some parts too icy. Overall okay first impression, for the price $26 after tax, this is definitely pricier than sushi palace and sushi kingdom. So far sushi palace is still my favorite! read more
