Tiny Italian restaurant with great homemade bread, pasta, soups, and salads. We loved the manicotti and veal lasagne. Chicken Parm was good too. Servings are large enough to box up & have lunch the next day!

This was my first time at Moretti's b/c why bother going out for Italian food? Well, this is why. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was delicious. All orders come out with a nice-sized loaf of Italian bread and herbed butter. I ordered the Eggplant Lasagne which came with salad or soup. The salad was fresh and lovely and even the tomatoes were good. Also, the portion size was generous so I came home with half of my dinner.

I followed the advice from a Facebook post about the best Italian restaurants in Columbus - of which there are several amazing choices. We were lucky to get a reservation at Morettis for Valentine's Day and it did not disappoint. Starting off with the complimentary homemade bread and herb butter. The bread was delicious but the butter was unlike anything I've ever had - and they sell it by the pint or quart. Yes, please! An $8 quart for the win! We also added in a couple drinks. My husband had the old fashioned which he thought was okay. I had the creamy limoncello martini which was tart and delicious. For dinner my husband had the chicken Parmesan and was really happy with his choice. Even though he went in with a big appetite, he ended up taking some home. The portions are really generous. I had the veal Francaise, a tender veal cutlet cooked in a lemony butter sauce with green beans and mushrooms and homemade spaghetti. It was incredible also. I ate about half and had a delicious lunch for the next day. The house salad that comes with every meal has a tasty homemade vinaigrette with pasta and crispy green beans. This was our first time at Morettis, but I would happily go back. Im so happy we listened to the Facebook recommendation!

Love Morettis! This time I tried the pizza (they are really known for their pastas and make a very limited amount of crust every day. When they are out, they are out.) . Pep with half sausage & a lovely Chardonnay. Barbie & Jenn at the bar provide perfect service! When you've been here once you're family. Moretti's Sawmill Road...most everything is house made! For anyone that's curious about that chronically asked question of "Which Columbus restaurant/pizza place has the best crumbled sausage", I'd emphatically direct you to go here. The crust It's uniquely indigenous to this restaurant. Light, crunchy, deliciously oily, airy, fantasic crumb on the handle and house made every day. It would earn the title of artisan(which is exhaustively overused at so many other places without merit). Good, golden brown undercarriage with nice crisp finish. The sauce Handmade by Tommy Moretti every day with just the right amount of spices to accentuate but not overwhelm. Savory, not sweet at all. The toppings Good pepperoni, kind of mild, not charred and cupped ezzo(which i do love) but reminded me of the dried sausage/salami you'd get in Italy. House made sausage I can see why they showcase so many dishes with their crumbled sausage. Amazing seasonings and browned with copious amounts of it.In my opinion, the best sausage in Columbus! Great house made bread and delicious whipped garlic butter. A casually elegant atmosphere where you could dress up and bring your favorite partner for a date night or come with friends or solo in jeans.

Believe it or not, THIS is a salad!!

There is a reason why this place has had a long-standing reputation by people in the know (ahem, true Italians) as being an authentic and consistent Italian restaurant in the northwest area. It's located in a small strip mall across the street from Sam's Club on sawmill. For as long as I have lived in Columbus, it's been there. It's a small restaurant, with a bar area equivalent in size to its main dining area. This explains why getting a reservation here is hard. I also noticed during my dining that there were regulars. Those regulars also had their long-standing reservations at tables. I can see how someone could eat here weekly as long as their waistline and metabolism cooperate lol. The portion size are humongous. I had enough leftover for both a lunch and dinner the day after. For starters, their bread and butter were delicious. The butter had diced onions in it with a lot of garlic. If you're not a fan of onions or garlic, this might not be your thing. In truth, it was a little overpowering for us ladies, but admittedly delicious. The bread was fabulous and lives up to the hype. A surprisingly hearty and delicious wedding soup came with my meal. Honestly, the bowl was so big it could've been my meal! The pastas were all handmade. That makes all the difference. Everything was very flavorful, came out hot, and very fresh. My friend pasta Primavera came out with beautiful, colorful vegetables aplenty. My chicken Moretti was fabulous and in my opinion, a must order! Unfortunately, we were also full. We didn't try their desserts, but I'm sure they were delicious. I saw a few tables that had ordered some. Everyone at my table was also satisfied with the wine choices. This would be a nice family dinner restaurant if you're ever craving a satisfyingly hearty true Italian meal.

    Ask the Community - Morettis

Can you get vegetables in place of the pasta?

    Yes!

Has anyone else had issues trying to call for a reservation? There's multiple numbers listed (yelp, google review, etc.) and no line is picked up. I've been calling non stop for the past 10 minutes with no luck.

Nope, have never had a problem getting a hold of someone. They don't open till closer to dinner time so it probably depends on what time you call. I use the number from their actual website.

Half price bottles of wine (up to $50 off), but not a single Cabernet on the menu under $100 so I went with an old fashioned. It was good, but I was a bit surprised a fancy place like this wouldn't use big rocks. Daughter had the espresso martini which was excellent. Their bread is served with an oil and tomato concoction that was to die for. Actually, I'm not sure if it was tomatoes or peppers, but it was crazy good. I think they sell it by the jar. For dinner I had the chicken parm. The chicken itself was okay, with the breading falling off in places , not overly crispy. Also, not overly large, but just fine for one meal. I'm used to taking half of it home, but this was just a bit larger than a half portion I would usually relegate myself to. The game changer was the red sauce. Holy cow was it good! A bit sweat, full bodied, just delicious. I wish they bottled that to take home! It was that good and more than made up for the mediocre service. About that, the waiter was friendly enough, just not that bright or attentive. I had asked for crushed red pepper when I ordered the chicken parm, which he never brought. It seemed that we waited forever for the check, then after paying, I realized I never got my credit card back. Waited for the kid to come back around, but he must have gone to the can to burn a mule, as he was no where to be found. I walked over to the server area and saw my card lying on top of the card reader, which I retrieved on my own. Normally, this experience would irritate me to no end and result in a poor review, but that red sauce was just sooooo good. Will definitely come back and try something else in that same sauce. Oh, and happy birthday to me! The complementary chocolate moose and the presentation was perfect.

Maggiano's had a reputation for excellent food however something appears to have changed! I ordered carryout lasagna that was runny and not firm. The item that disappointed the most was zucchini fritters. They were limp and had no distinct taste. To my surprise, later that evening I noticed there were little to no zucchini inside... only thin almost invisible slivers! I ordered a Caesar salad that consisted mostly of large stalks of romaine lettuce throughout the salad! Maybe, there was less than a teaspoon of Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. Needless to say, I was disappointed that I had spent $60 for a double portion of Lasagna, a small salad and fritters and was left feeling unsatisfied!
