Love this hidden gem! In a beautiful area of Savage. The owner Ronnie is the best! What an amazing owner. Their food is to die for! Please try their amazing menu. My family tried their Chicken jerk omelette, waffles with bacon, French toast with chicken jerk and egg platter with bacon and grits. For drinks we had the brewed coffee of the day, iced coffee and green tea. Service is impeccable. What an amazing husband and wife owned establishment. Oh! If you are vegan, they have VEGAN selections in their menu. We look forward to visiting this establishment again if we're in town as we are visitors from CA. I must add also the staff is amazing, great seating area and what a nice little town called Savage. Their restrooms are super clean and huge. I've heard about this place and passed by it several times while visiting Savage Mill, but I finally made time to stop in and see what they had to offer. Y'all, I ordered a breakfast sandwich on coco bread (mind blown emoji), and my goodness! This was easily one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. Coco bread is already fluffy and delicious, and I love it with a spicy beef patty tucked inside. But now? My second-favorite way to enjoy it is with eggs and sausage or bacon. Who knew something so simple could be so ridiculously good?! I visited on a Sunday, so I ordered my food at a kiosk, which honestly wasn't too bad. There was plenty of seating available, and the setup reminded me of a dining hall: you order your food at one spot and then find an open seat wherever you like. Second time returning to More Than Java Cafe and they did not disappoint! The first time I visited they were at another another location and I enjoyed the curry chicken salad on a croissant. For three years I've been eager to visit again! I love their new location inside this wooden boutique mall! They have tons more seating to enjoy your meal with loads of natural lighting. Me and partner used the kiosk to order our Sunday brunch after church. I order Nana's Hot Cider (10/10) and the jerk chicken and Egg on a croissant (9/10) and he ordered the hot chocolate (9/10) and Belgian waffle and jerk chicken (10/10) that Belgian waffle was so so good! Tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch in a waffle! The chicken is tender and seasoned well! They note its spicy but bearable in my opinion. Ronnie at the check helpful and he radiates positivity. I visited for a friend's birthday gathering, and didn't quite know what to expect outside of the glowing reviews that my friend gave about the brunch items. I had the Jerk Chicken & Egg, potatoes, and drip coffee. Everything was delicious, and I had plenty of food leftover for later. The owners were hilarious when they joked with me about my tolerance for spicy food. The Jerk Chicken Sandwich (wrapped in coco bread) is advertised as spicy, but it wasn't overwhelming to me. The service was timely, and everyone was kind. There's plenty of seating to choose from, and you can explore the other small businesses while you wait for your food. This is some delicious grub!! What nice folx, too. We didn't want to carry leftovers around, so DD and I shared a BLT with egg, over medium. It was good we did because it was huge! SIL had jerk chicken & waffle, which he said was excellent. I tasted some chicken and it was truly the best jerk I've had in years. Perfect spice & flavor, yum. I stopped by Savage Mill and found this small breakfast area and it was great. I really loved my jerk chicken and cheese sandwich. It was delightful with the right kick of spice near the end of the bite. When you order the jerk chicken I would recommend paying extra for the coco bread and pepper jack cheese. Having not been in Savage Mill for a while, I wonder how much I missed out by not coming here earlier. Its really a solid breakfast place with a few menu items, ranging from omelettes, waffles and more. The portions are great, really feel full after ordering one item. Not to mention the staff. They are the nicest folks ever, they came by asked if everything was alright, provided extra sauces and ketchup when asked for and even were extremely patient with us as we decided what we wanted to order. The seating is great, its on the side and when I visited, no one else was sitting, so there was plenty for us. Its right next to this pottery studio, so we were watching in on this pottery class while enjoying our meal. I think there is outdoor seating but I am not sure about that, but overall the vibes are great. Sometimes finding parking at the mill can be a bit hard so keep that in mind. There are also plenty of desserts at this place and don't sleep on them. We tried the key lime pie and it was great. Definitely plan on coming back here for that sandwich. Located in historic Laurel, I popped in here after completing another errand. The parking appears to be predominantly street parking, however I did see what appears to be a public lot nearby. This is pretty much a carry out spot, I vaguely remember some tables. This was my first time here and the gentleman behind the counter was very kind and helpful. I asked what was pretty popular and he suggested the jerk chicken, egg and cheese. There was another customer in there at the time who indicated the jerk chicken, egg and cheese was good but very spicy. So I got the jerk chicken, egg and cheese along with a cold pressed juice. The jerk chicken in my opinion was not as spicy as the other customer hyped it up to be. However, I enjoy spicy foods so I acknowledge my spice tolerance is probably a little higher all things considered. While not that spicy to me, it was indeed delicious. The coco bread it comes on was so soft and the chicken tasted well seasoned. The cold pressed juice was so good I forgot to take a picture of it! I think it had ginger and hibiscus. I'm only sad I missed out on the banana pudding. That seems to be a hit there as well. I'll certainly be back to try the other juices, another sandwich and hopefully snatch up some banana pudding. I think my eyes rolled back on that first bite. I also ordered a croissant for my daughter, a lemon muffin, and two lemonades: pineapple mango and hibiscus. The price was pretty good too. One of my closest friends got married in Savage Mill... I know I had a one-tracked mind and was focusing on doing my part in the wedding, but did I seriously miss this place back then?! My Wife's Curry Chicken Salad Wrap was on point. She did the flavor was good and the chicken was cooked well. She would definitely get it again. The Wrap was fresh as well. My BLT was hitting. I could have used more mayo but that is just because I love mayo more than the average person. The bacon was flavorful but not too salty and cooked just right. The lettuce and tomato were fresh and the bread was really good and hearty. I found out about the Coco bread after my order was prepared, I would have loved to try it on that because I love, love, love Coco bread and can eat it anyway. Their Coco bread was so good. I ate it plain. On a breakfast sandwich it would be amazing! We both got a freshly made tea. My Wife got the Nana's Ginger Peach and I got the Nana's Ginger Mint. Both had amazing flavor and tasted fresh. A little sweet for our tastes straight so we needed to water it down, but if you like real down home "sweet tea" then you will enjoy them straight with no chaser :-) Overall 5 star experience from start to finish. I've never had chicken and waffles with drumsticks before and I'm not really a fan of dark meat. I was also surprised at how wet the chicken was. I guess I was expecting wings or some tenderloins. The flavor of the chicken wasn't horrible, but I opted not to eat it with my waffle. The waffle on the other hand was quite tasty. It had a slight cinnamon taste that was overwhelming. I was first exposed to this local black owned business several years ago when my former hair stylist was hosting an event here (a tea party). Shame on me for not returning since then. I had sampled some of their teas and wine ice-cream (yes, that's a thing). I wasn't as familiar with this part of Laurel - it's located in the historic section of Laurel. Parking on Main Street could be a bit tricky, but side street parking is available as well. During this time, their hours are limited, and only for take out and delivery. I stopped by earlier this morning and chatted with the guy I believe is the co-owner. Very friendly and I love seeing family owned businesses! I ordered a chai latte to go - it was delicious.
