Smoothie, Nutella bowl.
Timothy G.

Went back today. Nothings changed. The staff is totally disorganized, young women fluffing their hair behind the counter near all the prep / fruit, takes forever to get served. They're totally out of it in this location. The smoothie and bowl were good.

Going 2 west of my zip code to Burtonsville 20866, I discovered Playa Bowls on Monday, March 17. I had heard of Playa Bowl from a friend who lives in Silver Spring that he really likes them (so I was familiar), and they have multiple locations with majority in central MD being in Montgomery County. This location is the only location overall within a 10 mile radius of my home. That day I had a St. Patrick's Day deal for $2 milkshake at Roy Rogers across the street, and cashier & manager couldn't get the deal to work even when ordering through the app. Manager said I could give you $2 off, I said no it was $2 not $2 off, that's a big difference. I said forget it, I was going to get food from you guys, but you get nothing as you can't give me the shake for $2. So, I looked and was like great now what am I going to get to eat. I went across the street from Roy Rogers to possibly give Playa Bowl a try. Cashier was nice answering all my questions. Wow, this bowl with granola, blueberries, various fruits, etc. was outstanding. I hardly eat these because it's way too much sugar in all that fruit, but it was delicious and filling for how I customized it.

This location was a gem!! I've never been to Burtonsville prior to this and from I see it a new shopping center. I arrived at this playa bowl and they tending to me immediately. The kindness, the care the meticulousness. The attention to detail when ordering we're all on point. The cleanliness was top tier also. I've taken the liberty to highlight the place with pictures and video... I'll leave with this, my 8th ave that I order was made to perfection. I order my bowl adding strawberries... but the highlight was my açaí was not served to me slight melted like the past locations I've been to. It's was just how I like it... Thanks guys and I wish you great success. Tae

This may be one of the smallest Playa Bowls I've been to, but the service and my Pura Vida bowl were both 10/10! I love that they have descriptions of the bases available for those who may be new, or just don't know.

Business is very clean! Staff is warm and welcoming. They answer all questions & will let you sample the different options for the base of the bowl! Everything is fresh! A delicious & wholesome treat! Please stop & try one of the many options offered...you won't be disappointed

Many business owners think about their products and services from the perspective of a provider or…read morevendor. Not the customer. Here's some advice: Walk through your business the way a customer would. How do they enter your space or navigate your website? How easily can they identify what they need? How smoothly is their order fulfilled? Where are the natural opportunities to upsell or add value? What does the payment experience feel like? Every step shapes their perception of your brand. If customers sense high effort, confusion, or indifference from staff, they will look elsewhere. Of the four customers I saw during the visit to your location: 1) the first one was frustrated because the ingredients advertised weren't available, so instead of being guided to an alternative she had to make that choice, 2) The second customer was frustrated because there was only one person working, and while this individual was making his order, the soul worker did not acknowledge any of the other customers, so he was frustrated when the customers pulled his attention away from crafting his order, leaving him with a negative experience, 3) the third. Customer was clearly frustrated because she was purchasing premade juices, but still had to wait an under amount of time before even being acknowledged by staff, 4) the fourth customer (myself) after waiting in line and have to ask a new employee who just came on shift if I could be helped was immediately informed by the staff regarding what they were out of and what they didn't have. Here's a tip: Instead of delivering a flat "we're out," train your team to offer alternatives that keep the experience positive. If you're out of vanilla on a hot day, guide the customer toward other refreshing options. They came to you to solve a problem--thirst, hunger, comfort--and your job is to preserve that momentum. When your marketing has already done the work of getting someone to your door or onto your site, honor that investment. Even if you can't provide the exact product they wanted, create a smooth transition so you don't lose the sale, the relationship, or the goodwill. Your brand, values, and reputation are being formed in real time. Inconsistency, poor service, indifference, or discourtesy can undermine your business before it gains traction. A customer‑centered process is your competitive advantage. For customers who are trying to support your business, especially as a black owned business, you are making it hard for customers to give you their money. Please fix this.

That is love," Diana realizes, even as she contemplates that, soon, the misty cave floor under her feet will be beset with violence, meted out by Medusa's sisters, before Diana even gets a chance to explain that she is trespassing in the hopes of obtaining for Medusa the ultimate form of social justice: permanent chances for her to "look other soul[s] in the eyes...and be seen." The Black female ownership, the management, and the staff at Love Life Cafe, a snug coffee house nestled at 929 Washington Blvd in Laurel, Maryland, are fully aware how being seen is intertwined with social justice, kindness, and customer service. Black artists' drawings and paintings, some of which are for sale, adorn the walls, including "Wakanda Forever," featuring Chadwick Boseman, whom the world heartbreakingly lost too soon to cancer; "Say Their Names: Black Lives Matter," featuring Sandra Bland; whom her communities bitterly lost to police brutality; and, in a hope-filled change of pace, "Looking Up at Greatness," depicting two-year-old Parker Curry's recognition and wonder at seeing Amy Sherald's portrait of Michelle Obama at the National Portrait Gallery in March of 2018. So far, my wife has enjoyed a life-sized latte with extra hot cardamom oat milk; a life-sized cafe au Lait with the same; an açaí bowl, minus the honey and adding kiwi, pineapple, and mango; and a life-sized Hollaback Girl latte. Meanwhile, I was thrilled to devour a banana, cinnamon, and vanilla frappe appropriately dubbed "Monkey Business."

With a variety of drinks from hot to cold; to food options. I couldn't decide what to get because a lot sounded enticing. I ended up getting a cappuccino so I can get some latte art and a grilled cheese. I got toasted marshmallow flavor for my cappuccino. It had a dainty heart and nicely made flavor wise. It came in a real mug since it was a cappuccino. If you get a cold drink, it comes in a disposable cup. For food I decided to try the jalapeño bacon grilled cheese. It was tasty. The jalapeños were not spicy at all which was what I was looking for. It had the right amount for flavor added to the melted cheese and bacon. Toasted at a level you get a crunch in every bite. I was asked if I'd like a pickle on the side; yes please. That was a nice little ask that I wasn't expecting. Overall, service, food and drink were good. There is free parking in the parking lot. I'll be back to try more specialty drinks.

Extremely disappointing experience at First Watch Columbia…read more I walked in alone and stood at the entrance waiting to be seated. Despite employees being present, I was not greeted or acknowledged for some time. Eventually, an employee approached me and asked if I was waiting for a pickup order. I explained that I was actually waiting to be seated and asked whether the restaurant had open seating. He told me no and then seated me at a large four-person table, even though I had already told him I was dining alone. After being seated, I waited for someone to take my order. The server passed my table several times without greeting me, offering water, or taking my order. What ultimately made me leave was watching another customer get seated nearby after I had already been waiting, only for the server to immediately approach her and begin taking her order. The server looked directly at me and still did not come to my table. At that point, I got up and left. I understand that restaurants get busy and service isn't always perfect. I don't expect perfection. But I do expect the basic courtesy of being acknowledged and served--especially when customers who arrive after me are receiving service while I continue to be ignored. I left without ever being able to order a drink or a meal. This was an incredibly disappointing and unacceptable experience, and certainly not the level of hospitality I expected from First Watch.
