The picture is of the original cheese Danish. Now the review would solely is for the coffee. At least that is still great. Good bold flavors and cherries that aren't burnt. So if you want coffee check them out, pass on the pastries. Here's hoping they can rekindle the relationship with the old baker. Service is always friendly. read more

Decided to explore a new coffee place and we saw this on the map! The location is nice, the inside is massive, and a good spot for studying or catching up with friends. This place looked super cute from the outside, and the inside has more of a café vibe where you seat yourself and order at the counter. My family got the bacon croissant sandwich and I ordered the avocado toast. The bathrooms were locked, so we had to ask for a key, which was a little inconvenient. My family also got coffee, and that came out in about 3-5 minutes, but our food took a lot longer -- around 20 minutes, which felt pretty long for what we ordered. Everyone in my family loved their croissant, but my avocado toast tasted weirdly sweet so the avocado didn't really stand out. The staff seemed chill, but the floors definitely could've used a vacuum. read more

I've been to Clock Tower Coffee and Bakery a few times now. They're located right by my daughter's school, so it's an easy place for me to get a cup of coffee after dropping her off at school or pick up a gift card to give to her teachers for teacher appreciation week or Christmas. They have good coffee that is sourced from Ceremony Coffee Roasters in Baltimore, which makes amazing coffee. They also have some food and bakery options, although I've never gotten to try it. They have limited allergy information, which is a bit frustrating. I'd love to see them flesh out their ingredient and allergen information so I could try their food and it would be more accessible for more people with dietary needs. Their prices are pretty standard for a small café. There's also a small parking lot and it is in walking distance to the neighboring neighborhoods. read more

I came here to grab coffee to hold me over in traffic and Clock Tower Coffee and Balery did not disappoint! It's actually a very spacious and cute coffee shop with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the blueberry brown sugar latte, and it tasted wonderful! It had the perfect amount of blueberry flavoring.. it wasn't too overpowering, but lingered after you took a sip. It tasted like they muddled the blueberry themselves, it was that good and perfectly balanced! One of my favorite coffee shops in DC also has a blueberry latte right now and they completely missed the mark while here..golden stars all around. They also have the most extensive syrup flavoring list I've seen from a coffee shop, so if I'm ever back in the area, I will be back to try a different drink and their food. Took DD there and it was my third time there but the first time I had food. While she really enjoyed her spinach breakfast wrap, I was a little underwhelmed by the avocado toast. The sourdought toast was just right and everything was very fresh. My disappointment was that there was very little avocado. It kind of felt like the spring mix, red onion, minute crumble of feta cheese, and balsamic drizzle were all there to bulk it up. Honestly, I could not taste the avocado at all - I had to remove lots of stuff to verify that there was a thin spread of it on the toast. It's still a welcoming vibe, clean and spacious, and the coffee is good. The staff is friendly. The parking is a bit limited but ample at 10 on a Monday morning. So the ambiance and esthetics of the coffee shop are really beautiful! They have ample seating both relaxed and for working which I like. I also like the vibe that it provides: promoting local items like candles, pretzels etc. The staff also friendly. The food was the problem for this visit and why I wouldn't come back which is unfortunate. I ordered online and got a text shortly after saying the food was ready. When I arrived it wasn't and they said I was waiting on one item which wasn't a big deal but the drinks were already made which means they were getting watery while I waited for the extra item. I ordered a waffle for my toddler and after waiting an extra 10 minutes they said it couldn't be made. I got a crossiant instead and when asked if it should be warmed I said yes but it wasn't warmed... I guess she forgot that fast. I also ordered an extra sausage patty on my sandwich for my toddler and when I got to the hotel that was also missing. So no waffle, missing sausage that was paid extra for and when my husband took a bite of the donut he said it didn't taste fresh at all. It shouldn't be, because they use Ceremony beans and those are the best! We love the drinks at clock tower. The establishment uses quality coffee and the baristas are good at customizing the drinks to every patrons liking. On this visit we tried a special menu item, the cinnamon dolce latte which was deliciously sweet but not overly sweet. The iced cappuccino was very tasty as well and had the perfect chill. Many students of the school nearby come over once school lets out and hang out with their friends. We've enjoyed having clock tower as our local coffee shop. What the world needs now is love, sweet love, and more locally -owned coffee shops! I was glad to see this new (opened in Oct 2023) coffee shop open up. It has so much potential with a great location, cool digs, awesome patio, full kitchen capabilities... For me it fell a little short of great. I'm not sure if they bake fresh on site but it didn't quite smell of it. There were a handful of options (10 I'd say?) displayed that I passed in favor of an egg white and veggie breakfast sandwich. It was made fresh, for sure. But the flavor and egg texture were somewhat lacking for me (sundried tomatoes and more spinach would have really gone far...maybe some sauce too?) I was excited the sourdough bread but it wasn't toasted or grilled which somehow seemed like a missed opportunity. Cappuccino was full bodied and came out quickly. The two people working the counter were also friendly and cool. I sat there for work and noticed it was eerily quiet: they mentioned their sound system isn't working in the front area. Stopped by for lunch and ordered the Turkey sandwich, hot latte, and a couple of pastries. While the sandwich was good value for the cost, the taste was lackluster. It felt like something was missing. The latte was about the same. I ordered a bear claw and an apple turnover to go, but later discovered they had accidentally given me a cherry turnover. Despite the mixup, the pastries were the highlight of the meal. I tried a bite of the bear claw at the cafe and the woman working noticed I ripped the tab of the box and offered to put it in a new box for me, which was very nice. This establishment looks really nice on the outside and within the interior. There is ample seating, there is a bar table at the windows with sockets for charging phones and working on laptops. It might just be the day and time that we came by, a Sunday afternoon busy with a bunch of loud annoying kids running around, and a couple people speaking obnoxiously loudly. I ordered the recommended chicken salad sandwich. It was good, but I don't understand why the top slice of bread is toasted while the bottom slice is cold and soggy. I also got a quad espresso. What I don't like is coffee establishments that don't provide fresh half and half. I had to resort to using several of those tiny cups of room temperature stable creamer which tastes terrible. The espresso is also bitter and burnt-tasting, so I hope that their espresso making skills improve. The staff is very friendly and courteous and that is something I would definitely rate at five stars. Unfortunately I would not come back as I cannot stand that room temperature creamer. It's a mix and match of coffee and 7 Eleven vibe. Limited coffee selection at that. The decor is nice with calming green and gray, but the random items spread throughout, like battery, cough drops, candy, sodas, is a bit strange. Not the friendliest staff. Overheard a couple of staff talk very bitterly and unkindly (like wishing the customer to have a flat tire) about a lady that had just existed the shop. They give you numbers and bring your order to you if you decide to eat and drink in. I ordered the spinach and feta croissant and the clock tower iced cappuccino which is caramel and mocha topped with whipped cream. The staff was efficient but lacked personality. My croissant I asked to be warmed and it was very cold inside. The service was amazing, welcoming, and helpful. The coffee was not good. One of our companions actually had to throw theirs out. Weak was one adjective used. We bought quite a few pastries which were very good. Overall, we feel we won't return although others with less discriminating coffee palates may find this place acceptable. My husband and I stopped at this coffee shop during our trip back home. The shop is big and spacious. It's neat and the menu was easy to read. I ordered a Matcha latte with almond milk and a chocolate chip scone. When I got my latte, I realized they didn't put any sugar in it. Most of the time when I order this drink at other coffee shops, the sugar is mixed in already. I appreciated that the store employee pumped in the sugar syrup when I mentioned there was no sugar. I also noticed the lattee wasn't hot. It was just warm and I don't think the matcha was mixed in properly. It was tasting really bitter. I think they need to work on their drinks more. This place is awesome. Got off the highway because of the traffic. Had an iced black tea with sugar free vanilla syrup and an absolutely amazing caprese sandwich with grilled salmon on it. The iced latte was pretty good but the vanilla flavor had a weird metallic aftertaste, will try the latte once more without any flavoring. The croissant was okay. I would have added a picture of my order but I devoured it so here we go!! I actually happened upon this location because I got lost trying to get to Dunkin Donuts. I am new to the area and just wanted to find some good coffee spots around my work area. When I entered the location I was warmly greeted. I have only been there during breakfast hours and was super stoked to see chicken sausage and turkey bacon options! I got the chicken sausage, egg, and cheese on a croissant along with "Clock Tower" latte with no whip cream. Very good. It's so good I have already been back twice in one week. They also have a cake and party display that taunts me, but I have not indulged as of yet; but I will. They also have a rewards program and it's easy to sign up! The staff seem to greet you with a smile, are very welcoming, and willing to share their recommendations. Bad faith -I visited this coffee shop for the first time. Sadly, my experience was disappointing. None of the baked goods in the display case were labeled or priced, leaving me confused about what was being offered. I had to ask the cashier about four different items. I couldn't tell what some of the baked goods were- what flavor is that loaf, croissant, muffin, etc? I settled on ordering the cinnamon role for $6. When I got home, I cut the cinnamon roll in half since I didn't intend to eat it all in one sitting and was going to share it with someone. I took a few bites and it tasted great, but there were crunchy bits in it. I peeled it apart and noticed that it had NUTS in it! I was shocked. I have someone in my family who is deathly allergic. This disappointed me. If they had taken a bite, it would have resulted in a medical emergency. Then , I noticed a piece of white substance inside the dough of the second half. This wasn't icing, since I ran it under water and it didn't dissolve. It was HARD. Could it be PLASTIC? Or an EGG SHELL? I called the store. I wanted to gently encourage them to consider labeling items with major allergens like nuts in the future. Faith answered the phone. I later discovered that she was the manager. I mentioned that today was my first time coming there, and since someone had an allergy to nuts in my household, that I wanted to find out if that was an ingredient in the cinnamon roll. She said "I have NO IDEA if it has nuts or not . We get it from an outside source. And I don't know if it its prepared in an environment that has nuts or not." I clarified that I wasn't asking about the cooking environment or cross contamination. That's a different question. I wanted to know if the product ITSELD included nuts in the ingredient. I was clearly tasting walnuts or something in the cinnamon sugar mixture. She continued to state that SHE HAD NO IDEA ABOUT ANY OF THE INGREDIENTS. She shared the name of the company and where it's located and passed blame onto them. I was stunned. I didn't know what to say. I finally said, "ok, that's deeply concerning." Well, Faith, I have another issue. When I cut the roll in half, there was a small white substance sticking out of the dough. It appears to be a small piece of PLASTIC or an EGG SHELL. Faith quickly said there are no egg-shells in the product, and we didn't use eggs in it. I was confused. A few seconds earlier she couldn't take ANY responsibility for the ingredients since she said it came from an outside source, but now she's saying it didn't have egg shells in it. I was confused and asked her how could she BE CLUELESS about whether it had nuts or not, BUT THEN BE SO CONFIDENT that it didn't have eggs/ an egg shell in it? She continued to tell me that her store didn't put egg shells in it. I wasn't accusing her store of sprinkling eggs shells on the product, this was obviously a mistake, but she kept asserting that it didn't have eggs shells in it, because they use a different egg product at the store. I asked her to confirm again if her store baked the product. She said they did not. So it was strange that she would go into detail about explaining how they bake goods in house with an egg substitute, but had no idea about how external products brought in by other bakeries are prepared. This back and forth went on for 5 minutes, and I finally just said, "Faith, I'm disappointed that we are on the phone for 5 minutes now, going back and forth, and that you've been so defensive this entire time. This wasn't a personal attack. I won't share a Thanksgiving table with you, so why are you unwilling to even kindly apologize, ask what to do to make it better, and encourage me to come back in the hopes that I would have a better experience. Faith, as mentioned, IS THE STORE MANAGER, but sadly, has VERY POOR customer service skills. The conversation could have ended in 2 minutes if she apologized, offered to call their supplier about whether they included nuts in the product and get back to men, and then offered me another baked good (and maybe a free cup of coffee) if I returned one day. Simple! When I said all this, She finally said "Ok, do you want me to give you a refund?" Oh Faith, it's much bigger than a $6 refund at this point, I said. Your attitude speaks volumes. Faith's poor attitude and lack of customer service skills reflect poorly on the shop, especially since she's the manager. This entire situation could have been handled with empathy, kindness and professionalism. She's clearly not passionate about this business, winning over customers, or making this coffee shop a highlight in the neighborhood. It's sad that this is the example being set for the staff, but hope she will use this as a learning opportunity. read more
