Nice people at the bar, including the bartenders. Really good, inexpensive drinks.

Atmosphere/Appearance: Lots of people are afraid of dive bars for some reason. I don't know if it's because of the stuff they see in movies or what, but they're some of the best places to come! Everyone is friendly, no one is judgmental, folks just kinda mesh together! There is a private parking lot out front as this place is literally located next to Jerry's Pizza. I'm assuming they're owned by the same folks. Once inside you'll see the bar to the right, dining to the left then the pool tables and bathrooms all the way in the back. There's a TouchTunes digital jukebox here so you can play whatever kind of music you want loudly throughout the restaurant. Lol. Service: It seemed as if 1 to 2 lovely ladies were running the bar and the whole restaurant by themselves. They were doing an excellent job making sure we were all taken care of and I was quite impressed. Food: I came for the WWWIIINNNGGGSSS. We tried the Mango Habanero, Sweet Thai Chili and Thai Peanut Butter & Jelly. They were all just okay. I don't like breading on my wings. It just adds carbs and makes the wings "look" bigger. Like stuffing a bra... you feel me? Out of the 3, I think the Mango Habanero would've been my favorite, but overall I wouldn't go out of my way to come here for wings. Sorry. :-/ Value: I can't recall how much wings were, but they weren't expensive at all. You won't break the bank eating here, no matter what you get. In conclusion... this place is cool. I wouldn't get the wings here again, but I'd certainly be willing to try other things on the menu for sure.

Great little sports bar with great specials! How can you beat $2 beers and 40 cent wings??…read more Highly recommend the peanut butter and jelly wings, sounds weird but they are quite tasty!! It is our mission to try all of the wing flavors. It's a great local bar on the south side of town, where there are not as many bars and restaurants. Good place to watch sports or to grab a drink or a bite to eat.

Never in a million years did I think I would find myself sitting at Eli Cannon's in 2026 but here I…read moream, writing this review. I was visiting Connecticut last week for wedding and staying with some friends in Middletown. I arrived on a Tuesday night with a hungry stomach so we figured Eli Cannon's was an easy spot to hit up. I went here many, many, many years ago when I still lived in Connecticut (I live in LA now) but don't remember much of the experience other then what the inside looks like and man, it still looks the exact freaking same. We arrived around 8PM and got seated right away. The staff was super attentive with providing drinks and menus and the kitchen staff had the food out super quick as well. I kept it simple and ordered a Buffalo Chicken Wrap with a side of french fries and really enjoyed it. The Buffalo Chicken Wrap tasted great and the hot sauce wasn't overpowering. The french fries here were crispy and tasted great, the perfect pairing for a late night bite (look, eating out at 8PM is late for me). Overall, Eli Cannon's is mostly a bar, but is also a pretty solid place to grab a bite to eat. The place truly is Middletown and with friends living nearby, I can definitely see myself returning in the future for some night time grub.

Great weather day to sit on the patio at Eli's. Experience was hit or miss this time. Had a…read moreserver we were not familiar with and his attentiveness was a little lacking - would have ordered another beer if he had checked in while we still had food. The spicy caesar salad was fire as usual - the size might be a bit smaller, but it's still great ! Ordered the back bean burger and that wasn't a good experience for a few reasons. The burger was more like a mush pancake and the bun was way too big for the burger as well as not that toasted which might have made it seem not as fresh; i will order it again to see if it was a fluke since I appreciate the effort to make it themselves as opposed to serving a frozen black bean burger . If it is always like that, it's a texture problem for me. Please put some hooks on the outside rail for purses to hang from when sitting at the mini picnic tables since there are no chair backs

We are not often in Middletown, but we will definitely be back. This is a great place to stop, and I 10000% recommend it. Of course, I had the gluten-free veggie pizza, and I added pineapple because I am a pineapple-on-pizza person. Sue me, I am an islander. My partner had the shrimp pizza, not gluten-free, and ordered a medium. The size was honestly obscene for a medium. He kept asking to drive back down there every day after because he wanted it again. Definitely returning.

Our neighbor raves about Mondo, so we thought it was high time we paid a visit…read more Mondo is fairly easy to find; our only error was accidentally pulling into the wrong parking lot. They do offer a free lot in the back, but judging by all the cars, Mondo is very popular on a Friday evening. Sure enough, there was a big line of people picking up orders, but we walked right in and were seated immediately. We started off with a beet salad, which was surprisingly delicious, combining candied walnuts and sweet orange and green apple slices with salty feta and tangy balsamic over a mountain of mixed greens. We then moved on to paninis, generous portions of meat and toppings on freshly baked, crispy bread. One of us chose more mixed greens tossed with dressing while the other chose crunchy French fries. We also ordered a third panini to go, the Mondo combo. We asked for fries; the kitchen accidentally gave us a salad. Our server, Heather N., saved the day by noticing the error and giving us both side orders. Mondo is family friendly, and there were plenty of children during our visit. As such, the volume was a tad loud and boisterous, but nothing obnoxious that would prevent us from returning.
