Great place to hang out if you like a dive bar, good people and cheap drinks. If cheers were a dive bar, this would be it.

I informed you that because my dog is a service animal, she is permitted under ADA to accompany me in all public places. Charlie Brown, who was also at the door, then asked me the appropriate questions allowed under ADA, and after I responded, allowed me to enter the establishment with my service dog. However, after maybe 30 minutes, Mr. Brown approached me and asked that I leave the premises and return without my service dog. I declined this request since my service dog was not misbehaving in any way, barking incessantly or at all, and not being disruptive to any other patrons. After about another 30 minutes, Mr. Drouin approached me with Mr. Brown and demanded that I leave because according to him my dog was too young to be a service animal and therefore must be in training, and I was being disruptive by talking to patrons who asked me about my dog. I informed Mr. Drouin he was incorrect, that my service dog is fully trained to provide the service for which she is required, and the law does not prohibit me from interacting with patrons who approach me about my dog. He and Mr. Brown still demanded that I leave. I was with a group of five other people who all witnessed all of these exchanges. We all departed the establishment at that time. I have filed an official complaint #758150-TWD with the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division for this violation of 28 CFR Sec. 36.302(c). This violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act can result in civil penalties up to $75,000 for a first offense and $150,000 for a subsequent offense. Despite me informing these ignorant and insolent employees of this, they still demanded that I leave. I will also be filing a complaint with the State of Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities for this violation of CT General Statutes Sec. 46a-44 & 46a-64, which is a class C misdemeanor, which Mr. Drouin and Mr. Brown will be individually charged. I will also be contacting Mr. James Verano, the listed Principal for Pig's Eye Pub, and Mr. William (Bill) Morrissey, the listed Managing Member regarding these federal and state violations. I will also have my personal attorney contact Reid and Riege, PC, the listed agent for Pig's Eye Pub. Being denied service while accompanied by a service animal is illegal, humiliating, and emotionally draining experience that no one should have to endure. What these imbecilic employees did was not only illegal but morally reprehensible.

I'm back! The restaurant is located on 389 Main St. in East Hartford, CT. It's been a few months…read moresince I was last here (December) which is a crime. Carmine's is a fresh from scratch kitchen that is ALWAYS open. Their appetizers, pastas, entrees and desserts combine old-world traditional Italian flavor with a modern flair for presentation, and the freshest ingredients around. Menu staples like rigatoni bolognese, fettuccine carbonara and chicken Milanese are coupled with unique recipes like chicken ala vodka and toasted almond cake. They've staffed the kitchen with a dream team of chefs and you can tell instantly! They also do parties, catering and online ordering/delivery. The restaurant is well known for its live music. There is never a cover and parking is always free. This place and produces absolutely amazing food and drinks. I have noticed quite a few menu changes. The Happy Hour menu has expanded. It's also no longer all day Monday. The main menu no longer has prices on featured drinks (although that's the tre d these days). Note that the Bar Bites menu is available open to close! The Main Menu looks the same although there is a new Wine List (that's a first here). The music is very pleasant and the right volume level. It's always a big cool in here too. For my first drink, I'm having a Pratt N Whiskey. This is made with Woodford Reserve Bourbon, sweet vermouth, red wine and sour mix. It's definitely an unusual drink. It's not garnished, but it tastes great. The wine sticks out for sure. It's clearly a shaken drink not often found with a whiskey component except for maybe Whiskey Sours. For my first item, I'm having the House Salad made with spring mix, basil, tomatoes, julienned (thinly sliced) carrots, cucumbers and house red wine vinaigrette dressing. This is a big portion! I love this dressing! This tastes great! For my next item, I'm trying the Carmine's Secret Tenderloins. These are off of Carmine's "Secret Menu." They are pan seared, caramelized chicken tenderloins, made with wine, olive oil, cracked black pepper (dried black peppercorns broken into coarse, uneven pieces), kosher salt (a coarse, flaky salt named for its use in the Jewish koshering process of drawing blood from meat), shredded Parmesan and a very special "secret sauce." I'm curious as to what this sauce tastes like. Wow! Nice presentation! These are good! I love that sauce! There's a good crowd in here (20 people). Only one worker (bartender and server). She's damn good at what she does! For my next drink, I'm having a Connecticut Cosmo. This is made with Litchfield Vodka, Wild Moon Cranberry, Triple Sec and lime juice. This vodka is the Gold Medal Winner 2018 & 2019 at the New York International Spirits Competition. Silver Medal Winner at the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition! Our Gluten-Free Batchers' Vodka is distilled from luscious corn grown during the beautiful summer months in Somers, CT. We distill 4 ¾ times and use a gravity-fed charcoal filter that takes 12 hours to filter 100 gallons. The longer the vodka sits on the charcoal, the more impurities are removed, which creates an incredibly smooth taste. Bottled at 80 proof. It is impeccably clean, slightly sweet, velvety smooth mouthfeel and sweet buttery overtones. It's smooth with a warm finish with subtle notes of sweet ripe corn at the end. I actually sat down next to the owner of the Distillery at a wine pairing dinner at Flemings in West Hartford about 7-8 years ago. This looks nice! Wow! This has great flavor! For my next item, I'm having the Rigatoni Matinara. Rigatoni is a large, tube-shaped pasta with ridges on the outside and straight-cut ends. Marinara sauce is a tomato sauce usually made with tomatoes, garlic, herbs, and onions. I don't eat pasta all that often. This will serve as my appetizer before I hit the main course. This is a BIG portion! It is very good! For my entree I'm having the Pan Seared Salmon which is "hand cut" salmon with zesty orange glaze served over mashed potatoes with seasonal vegetables (broccoli). Add LOTS of crushed red pepper. Nod that's "LOTS." This is spicy! My kinda spicy! The plate is nice and hot! I like the presentation. This tastes great! What a great meal here!

Never have I ever paid for bread in a restaurant and we were asked if we wanted bread - no mention of we had to pay extra for it. Side salads are an extra charge too. If you get a chicken meal expect it to have a very charred taste to it. We found the food to be middle of the road and not very big portions considering we usually take food home from other places. There was a birthday party going on in the restaurant, not in a separate room. Not that it bothered us, but it was extremely loud in there and it seemed to bother the table next to us. Don't expect a quiet dinner in this place. Getting the attention of the waitress was impossible. I had to stand at the bar and wait to pay our bill. The party had the entrance blocked because they were filming and we had to exit through a side entrance, which didn't bother us, but not the best from a safety point of view. Do we recommend the place - no. Will we go back - no.

Parking fills up on popular nights. They seemed very understaffed, with only 1-2 bartenders for a packed outdoor area. The kitchen did not seem to be able to keep up with the demand, though I do feel like we should've been warned that food would take an hour when ordering if it were that backed up. I went back to check on my food twice , the second time being at an hour and 15 minutes since I placed the order , with people who ordered after both getting their food first and finishing before I received mine at all. After I finally got my food I had to wait additionally to ask for condiments and waited 10 minutes after asking the bartender if I could close my card while others who came after me both ordered more drinks and paid first. The bartenders did offer us a drink on the house to try to help, though when I finally got my food it was 10pm. I probably would not order food again. They were also out of all ciders . This bar can be fun for its outside games but i would pickup food elsewhere first .

Unfortunately, the overall experience has gone downhill. During our most recent visit, the bartender called me names, and the owner's son -- who was clearly intoxicated -- was extremely rude. Mind you, we are very generous tippers and have been coming here for over 10 years. When we were cashing out we heard the bartender say "I'm going to charge her card for a 20% tip" It was disappointing and uncomfortable to say the least. It's also very concerning how often visibly intoxicated customers are overserved and then allowed to drive away. It doesn't feel safe or responsible. I won't be giving them my business again anytime soon, I highly suggest you order food to-go or find another restaurant.

From the outside it looked like a small hole in the wall type of place and we almost passed it by. I am so glad we did not. We walked in around 1:30 and the place was lively and packed with people enjoying their Sunday. Unfortunately our newly two year old was extremely cranky and our four year old and my wife were very hangry. Within seconds of walking in we honestly thought we should leave so we would not disturb everyone who was there trying to enjoy their afternoon. Right away someone we believe was the owner or manager noticed us and could clearly see we were struggling. Without hesitation he came over with a ball and started playing with our two year old. A waitress brought over a coloring book, crayons, and cards for the kids. In that moment we did not feel like the family with the loud cranky toddler. We felt genuinely welcomed. My wife and I looked at each other and decided we had to give it a shot. Within minutes our boys were dancing to the music and other patrons were smiling and cheering them on. The energy in the room was just awesome. Then the food came out and all I can say is wow. Every single thing we ordered was incredible. One of those meals where everyone at the table stops talking for a minute because the food is that good. What started as a stressful moment with two tired hungry kids turned into one of the most memorable family lunches we have had in a long time. Amazing people, amazing atmosphere, and seriously amazing food. If you are thinking about trying this place do yourself a favor and go. We will absolutely be back
