Huckleberry tasted mostly like vanilla, the rocky road had no marshmallows and the almonds were more like almond dust (no rock and no road), the blackberry sorbet tasted more like lemon but was tasty at least. We just had Moo's for the second day in a row, and I have to say Mr. Moo has perfected the art of making ice cream. It is hands down the best ice cream in Jackson, and probably the best ice cream we've had anywhere. The homemade gingerbread cookies in the gingerbread ice cream are phenomenal. The broad flavor lineup ranges from the basics like Vanilla Bean to rotating, off-the-wall offerings such as Spice Rum Banana Coconut. But the Wild Huckleberry is the main draw -- Food Network even awarded that flavor the title of best dessert in Wyoming. The shop is about a block from the Town Square. Outside, you can't miss the hunter-green facade, Moo's custom neon sign, and twinkle lights looping around the columns. A bench runs the storefront length under the cover of the building's wooden awning, and a bright pink flat screen displays the long list of flavors above the entrance. Inside, the wide dessert display counter spans the entire length of the room. To the left, candy apple-red chairs are pressed up to petite tables, and the whitewashed walls are decked with Moo's merch and a large Coca-Cola sign. The right side has a standalone counter with Coca-Cola-branded barstools and a mermaid mural. I visited Moo's before the official summer season, so the shop boasted only a short line -- yet, it moved at a snail's pace. Further, the staff were mostly disengaged, although they patiently scooped me samples. Among the more creative flavors, some are definite misses: the Chocolate Cabernet Sauvignon reminded me of a cheap, fruit-filled truffle; the Jamison Whiskey Pecan was like an overpoweringly bitter pecan pie; and the real Pistachio had plenty of whole nuts but was otherwise dull. Other flavors were excellent: the intense, tart Wild Huckleberry had ground-up fruit specs; the Chai Tea was robust and not overly sweet; the Buzz Bomb (espresso) achieved a nice balance between bitter and sweet with plentiful chips; and the B52 (Kalua, Grand Marnier, Irish cream) was the coffee-lover's version of rum raisin. If you want two flavors in one scoop, and your server is the young man with the black rinmed glasses, first ask for one scoop in a cup, pause while he rings it up and then say two flavors. Service was good, and customers are helped in an orderly fashion. There were about 14 flavors available, from banana to mint chip. They also have sorbets, candy and other desserts.
