After wrapping a full team boat cruise during our DC offsite, a few of us decided to keep the evening going with dinner at Moonraker at the Pendry. As the only one in the group who actually lives in DC, this spot has been sitting on my DC dining list for a while, so I was excited to finally check it out. Safe to say... it lived up to the hype. Food & Drinks We leaned into sharing plates, which felt like the perfect move here. Our table ordered edamame, blistered shishitos, tempura cauliflower, hamachi crudo, Ebi roll, Maryland crab roll, and spicy tuna crispy rice. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The tempura cauliflower and Maryland crab rolls were such standouts that we doubled back and ordered more... which pretty much tells you everything you need to know For cocktails, I tried the Winter's River and the Shio Kosho Highball. Both are tequila-based but had completely different flavor profiles, and each one was equally delicious. One was bright and refreshing, the other more layered and complex. Easily two of the more memorable cocktails I've had lately. Service Stellar from start to finish. The host team welcomed us warmly, and our server was kind, attentive, and helpful without hovering. Our group had just come off a long evening of team activities, so having smooth, friendly service made the experience that much better. Ambiance The views here are spectacular. It was a bit chilly the night we visited, so we opted to sit inside, but we still stepped outside for photos and to take in the skyline. Inside, the origami-inspired decor adds a unique and elegant touch that makes the space feel special without being stuffy. Definitely a place that feels like an occasion, even if you're just meeting friends after a long day. Overall Prices were exactly what you'd expect for the area and for a restaurant housed inside the Pendry, so nothing surprising there. Between the cocktails, shareable bites, attentive service, and beautiful views, Moonraker delivered on every front. All in all, I'm glad this spot finally came off my list, and I'm already looking forward to coming back again. read more

Moonraker, nestled high above the city, offers an unparalleled experience for the senses. From the moment we stepped onto the rooftop, we were transported to a world of elegance and enchantment. Their attentiveness and warmth made us feel not just welcomed, but truly cherished. It was evident that they took pride in making every guest's experience extraordinary. The Japanese-inspired menu was amazing! The sushi was fresh and expertly rolled. The dumplings, delicate parcels of joy, were bursting with flavorful fillings, showcasing a perfect balance of textures. And then there was the star of the show - the pork belly fried rice. This dish was a revelation, a harmonious blend of tender pork belly, perfectly cooked rice, and a medley of seasonings that created a taste sensation that lingered long after each bite. Admittedly, the small style plates at Moonraker are priced at a premium. However, the experience is worth every penny. The price becomes a testament to the quality and exclusivity that Moonraker offers its patrons. If you are seeking a dining experience that goes beyond the ordinary, Moonraker is the place to be. I had the unfortunate experience of visiting the Moonraker inside the Pendry Hotel at The Wharf recently, and it's safe to say I won't be returning anytime soon. What should have been a pleasant outing on my birthday weekend turned into a nightmare due to the abysmal service and appalling behavior of the management team. From the moment we questioned the confusing billing practices, it was clear that something was amiss. The bartender's inability to provide a coherent explanation was frustrating enough, but it was nothing compared to the rudeness we encountered from the manager, TJ. His disrespectful comments, which reeked of both classism and racism, were completely uncalled for and utterly unacceptable. TJ's disrespectful comments, including stating that "we are not the kind of customers they want" simply because we had questions about the bill, were appalling. Additionally, his claim of having been and run restaurants all over the world was contradicted by his inability to explain the billing practices. It was both baffling and concerning. I am a business owner and work with a ton of difference brands and establishments daily . Also as someone who values respect and professionalism, I was shocked and deeply disappointed by the treatment we received. It's evident that customer satisfaction is not a priority at this establishment. In light of this experience, I strongly advise against visiting the Moon Raker at Pendry Hotel in Washington DC. The lack of transparency, coupled with the disrespectful attitude of the management, makes it clear that this is not a place worth supporting. Save yourself the trouble and seek out accommodations and businesses where your patronage is appreciated and respected. read more

Absolutely Horrific Experience at Moonraker - Avoid at All Costs Date of Visit: April 29th, 2023 - Time: 9:00 PM I'm utterly appalled and disgusted by the blatantly discriminatory and racist treatment my party and I received at Moonraker in Washington, D.C. Our simple inquiry about inconsistent pricing on our drink receipts was met with shocking hostility and prejudice from the manager, T.J. When we noticed two different prices for the same drinks and asked for clarification, T.J. confronted us with contempt rather than assistance. His response was, "The fact that you guys are asking me about this means you're not the kind of customers I want in here." Such a statement, layered with unspoken racial undertones, was not only inappropriate but completely unacceptable. Despite our calm demeanor and genuine confusion, T.J. failed to provide any explanation for the billing discrepancies and instead chose to demean us further. His inability to justify the overcharge quickly escalated to him rudely demanding that we leave the establishment. This experience was not just poor customer service; it was overtly racist and utterly disgraceful. I strongly advise everyone, especially people of color, to steer clear of this establishment. A place that discriminates and humiliates its customers has no place in our community or our hearts. We deserve respect, transparency, and decency, none of which Moonraker is capable of providing. read more

had a reservation Wednesday, May 19 at 9:30 pm If your kitchen closes at 9:45 you should not be able to make a reservation at 9:30. Your last reservation should be at 9 PM or keep your kitchen open later for the 930 reservations just in case they are running late. Also, if you have reservations booked you should be stocked with enough food for your reservations They didn't have wagyu tataki bites, charred steak crispy rice, or the spicy tuna roll! So basically everything I came here to order was out of stock. I ordered the Maryland crab roll, which was not good at all. the old bay was overpowering and the flavor just did not go well with the avocado and rest of the sushi Also asked for a side of the sauce that came with one of the dishes and was told they didn't have any more sauce but to me it seems like the kitchen had rushed to close and they were too lazy to get me a side of sauce. Extremely disappointed with this experience will not be re turning read more

I've been meaning to write this review for a while because I genuinely had such a great experience at Moonraker during my birthday weekend at the Pendry Washington DC - The Wharf. Even during the chaos of Fourth of July weekend, the service never skipped a beat--especially thanks to Lucas, who might honestly be one of the best bartenders I've come across. He kept the drinks flowing, kept them strong lol, and somehow still managed to make every interaction feel personal and welcoming despite how busy it was. Between the great conversation, fun personality, and amazing drinks, he really became one of the highlights of my weekend. I found myself looking for him at every bar we visited, but especially here at Moonraker. The atmosphere, views, and energy were already great, but Lucas truly elevated the experience. I'll definitely be back--both for the drinks and the conversation! read more

We stopped by Moonraker at the Pendry Hotel for dessert and wine, and it was nothing short of amazing. The views from this spot are absolutely breathtaking, creating the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening. The service was exceptional, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. We tried two desserts: the Matcha Bomb (White Chocolate Matcha Mousse, Yuzu Curd, Sesame Soil) and the Peach Cheesecake (Kumquat Marmalade, Speculoos Crunch, Vanilla Powder). Both were divine--beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The atmosphere here is top-notch, with a full bar and cozy fire pits in the patio seating area, making it an ideal place to unwind. Whether you're here for a full meal or just drinks and dessert like us, Moonraker delivers a fantastic experience. Highly recommended! read more
