My lady and I have been coming to Moonlight diner at least once or twice a month for the last year. It has become a tradition of sorts as somewhere to easily start our Sundays with a tasty breakfast, a cup of coffee (tea for her) and conversation. Katia and Sam (owners) are there to greet us with a smile each time and both hustle to make sure every customer is taken care of. Also in attendance is their busser, Rich, who is as enthusiastic and friendly as they come and always takes a second to say hello as he hustles by. He remembered our names after the first time meeting us and hasn't forgotten them yet. The diner surroundings are very clean (including the bathroom!) and cozy. Just big enough to serve about 100 people but still small enough that you don't feel you're forgotten about, even at their busiest times. We have only been there for breakfast so far and have never been disappointed. The omelettes are huge and full of ingredients (I get the Garden Omelette). She usually gets the breakfast wrap with spinach, eggs and cheese. The waffles and pancakes are a good choice too. If you like your bacon crispy, just let them know... Recently, we signed a lease that puts us a mere .2 miles from their front door and are excited to be able to walk to Moonlight on the weekends! Great job guys! read more

Nice small diner for a quick early breakfast. If you plan to come on a Saturday morning be prepared to wait if later than 9 am. I got the Garden omelette and it was good with fresh vegetables. read more

Great diner! Stopped in twice, on our second visit the waitress remembered us from a month ago. Everyone we encountered was friendly. Both visits I was on a time crunch and concerned there wouldn't be enough time to order, eat and pay. Fortionately our table was quick to order, the food came quickly, and we paid for our meal all within 30 minutes. I would love to come back on a friday when they serve their medditeranean specials. One thing to note, the parking lot is small and can get pretty congested around breakfast. Overall a nice diner, stop in for a meal next time your in Glenside! read more

Cute classic diner. They were able to accommodate our party of 10 with no fuss. The waitress was so nice and and some guy who I'm assuming was the owner was enthusiastically chatting up all the tables including ours (he's hilarious!). Stopped in looking for dinner, overall decent experience but left disappointed. I had a gyro wrap, my kids had chicken fingers and a cheeseburger. Staff was friendly and the food came out quick, but it all tasted like and looked like it was previously frozen, including the gyro meat. The burger had a few bites before it was pushed away. Both kids meals came with small bags of Lay's potato chips instead of a side, which seemed pretty odd for a diner. I ate the gyro which was pretty good, nothing great. The prices were reasonable, and I'd probably go back to try breakfast or something else, but no rush. Bummer because they had a decent dinner crowd too. read more

Came for a quick dinner while out looking at Christmas lights. Boyfriend got meatloaf and I had chicken croquettes. BEST. I repeat. BEST. Chicken croquettes. They are homemade and delicious. Breakfast or dinner, we are regulars and have been for about two years now. Great Mediterranean - don't miss Falafel Friday - omelettes, specials (meatloaf, pot pie, etc.)and fabulous desserts. They just started having biscuits and gravy too! I make this, as my momma was from Tennesse, and am picky and I will definitely eat theirs. Owner came over to talk to us and make suggestions - which was so nice because the menu is large and we were having a hard time deciding because everything sounds so good. I gotta tell you I've heard of some bad things happening in diners over the years but serving people food they pulled out of the trash and scraped the mold off of is by far the worst. This place needs to be closed down by the department of health, and you better make sure you count your change or the man at the register on Sunday will try to pull a fast one on you while their busy. Let alone recycling old coffee back into the coffee pot and reserving it... I was recently moved to Glenside and had been going there for several weeks and witnessed this unimaginable actions now don't get me wrong stuff happens here and there but if They all this in front of customers imagine what goes on behind the scenes. I was there last week for the last time. When I walked out of there completely disgusted the cook had quit at the same time and told me they regularly use food left on plates for future customers cause they are so cheap and have their bus boy eat those same plates of food except they don't take it off the plate.. what a shame.. does anybody know what can be done about this place. We've been going to The Moonshine Diner for the post 3 years. I love their breakfasts. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming.

Your average dinner, nothing too awesome about it but it's nice for a Sunday morning breakfast when you don't feel like cooking.

I went to this homey local diner one night hungry for mac and cheese only to find it wasn't on the menu or listed on the specials board :(. I mentioned this to Angel, our server. She gave me the one minute signal and moved toward the kitchen to consult with the chef. She came back with good news: I could have what I was hankering for if I combined it with a crab cake or something similar. I happily complied and was glad I did! My wife and I have eaten breakfast at this quaint yet busy diner in our neighborhood and discovered a gem that served great food in a friendly atmosphere. The service was prompt and parking, the mornings we went, was easy. I met the owner, Sam, and his family during an unusual circumstance when my teenage son had a flat tire in front of their home. The owner was so compassionate and helpful in assisting my son late in the evening. When I found out he owned this great diner, it occurred to me why "Moonlight" is so friendly and efficient. If we want to improve the standards in our community, then we need to recognize the value around us. The "Moonlight Diner" is one of those valuable gems. read more

Took my family of five here for breakfast and paid $40 with more than 20% tip included. Clean dining room. Friendly staff. Food was good. Just like a breakfast diner should be. got two plates. 1. tuna melt lunch special. comes with fries and a soup. - was not told it was a open face sandwhich. fries were not crispy. soup tasted like water. 2. feta cheese omelet. comes with home fries and bacon but we got sausage instead. - first off we ordered a side of sausage and wanted out bacon but no bacon was found. was charged two dollars for sausage. - the omelet was terrible. it tasted like ocean water. my mother owns her own breakfast spot... the eggs were gone bad. took two bites and i couldnt eat it anymore. -homefries taste pre-done was very dry not even warm. -sausage was okay. conclusion: 23.00 was my total and i felt ripped off. i tipped 5.00 nothing wrong with the service the food was dreadful not coming back ever. read more

Honestly thought it was expensive for a diner, I had a cheese steak with onions, a sprite and my daughter had an omlette and sprite and my wife had a salad, and a glass of water-$35???. While the food was good, the roll for my cheese steak was about the size of a hot dog roll (small), so it wasn't like the quantity was proportional to the check amount. read more

Best diner experience of my 25 years. Quick service, super clean, reasonable prices, and most important: amazing food!!! Chicken was juicy, bread was soft, and the lettuce was so fresh I ate it off the plate when it fell from my sandwich. Also, one of the best chocolate cakes I've had in a while. This is probably our favorite diner we've ever been. The staff here is terrific! One time when my home lost power, I walked here on a cold & damp day (about 3 long blocks). Without saying anything, the waitress knew I wanted a cup of coffee & juice ASAP! It's these small gestures that gives you a homey feel & makes you wanna come back again & again.
