bought 2 hanging baskets on Thursday 5/30. Spent $106. By Saturday 6/1 they were both dead. When I talked with the staff at the nursery I was told it was because I had not watered them every day. I had checked and the soil was still wet. It was not hot or freezing on these days. I have never had plants die because they had not been watered for 48 hours. Very disappointed in this nursery. read more

I have been enjoying shopping here for the past few years. I spotted a beautiful pot last month & purchased it, only to find it had a fine hairline crack . I was confident I would be able to get a credit as I participate in the store's rewards program; however the manager accused me of breaking the pot when I brought it home, and further insulted me with when I asked for a refund. I have never been accused of something by a retailer and feel very disappointed in this place. I was given a credit minus a 25% re-stocking fee, and while I used to recommend this store to everyone I will no longer be shopping here or recommending it. What kind of a store doesn't trust or believe a customer who is an honest person? I cannot believe that the store owners wouldn't care about losing customers. read more

Disappointed after stopping at another close location, I was surprised to see the amazing layout and how many varieties this place has. They may be slightly higher in price, but WOW - you can easily see the quality difference! The staff was also friendly and helpful, especially Leah who gave me some great tips on getting the best results. So nice to be acknowledged!! I pride myself in supporting small local businesses. I will NOT be coming back to this nursery. I bought a ceramic pot, 4" in diameter, from China. When I got home I realized I was charged $24.99 for it. I took it back and asked for store credit. They refused. Perfect condition, store tag still on it. It is clearly only worth $6-7. The young man at the counter wanted to help me. His manager said no! They have lost myself, my daughter and my grandsons business from now on. read more

I love this nursery. I've lived in Bend for decades and think Moonfire consistently has a wide range of healthy plants that do well in Central Oregon. They have a great selection and while they're not the cheapest in town, they're the most likely to have exactly what I'm looking for. If you do want bargains, be sure to check out their great sale in the fall. Wonderful shrubs, great perennials and all kinds of goodies. read more

I had a very poor experience with the Moonfire and Sun Garden Center that I feel compelled to share. I came in today and described how 12 out of 12 plantings, of one specific perennial that I purchased last summer, died over the winter. One of the employees indicated she had the exact same experience. These plants were recommended by Moonfire for my application when I purchased them last year. Initially the manager on duty committed to apply the purchase price of the dead plants towards replacement plantings of another variety, and recommended something hardier. While I was in process of placing the recommended replacement plantings on a cart, the manager came back out and said that she made a mistake, and no credit could be applied. I asked her if she would please stand by her commitment, and she said no. I asked her if she would instead give me a 50% discount on the new plantings as a compromise. She said she was not authorized. I asked her if she would call someone who could authorize this as I thought it was reasonable. She said no. I reminded her of the level of purchases made in the past, which were documented in their customer loyalty system. I then asked if it was maybe worth making a phone call rather than loose a loyal customer. She said no. Sadly, I left and will never return. I drove a few blocks to Eastside Gardens and had a fabulous experience! They looked at the photos of my yard, made great recommendations, and were extremely pleasant. The arrogance and attitude at Moonfire was actually more offensive than the decision to go back on their word. When I went into Eastside, I felt like I was back in Bend again! Its really too bad. Moonfire used to be such a fine place. I would strongly recommend against shopping there. read more

A knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly staff. They carry herbs, fruit, flowers, trees, vegetables, seeds, shrubs, all kinds of gardening/planting/landscaping accessories that will grow in our environment. I enjoyed picking the brain of a helpful woman, as she was happy to help a novice gardener. They'll leave you alone if you'd prefer, but I was grateful for the help. They carry organic products too and their prices seem very reasonable. read more

During my first experience here I enjoyed the garden and the variety available - purchased trees and shrubs - All did well except one tree. I was disappointed when their "tree guarantee" for returns within 2 months means it still needs to be healthy and alive. Lowes/ HomeDepot will return them no questions asked up to 1 year - their prices are also over 50 % less and my current trees have thrived much better from the BIG Stores.. Well I did like them until today. Two days ago I bought a beautiful blue pot, but realized when I got it home that the blue wasn't the right one to go with the pottery bird bath I had bought there a week prior...went to take it back today and they refused to accept it ...the girl said "we don't know what you planted in it, if it is cracked" etc. - I explained I hadn't planted anything as I only had it for two days...She said it was their policy and vaguely pointed in the direction of the door. There is nothing on the receipt that says you cannot return pots and I didn't see a sign anywhere. I would not have bought one there if I had known as I wasn't 100% sure of the match. It would be nice if they told you before you paid for it. I would understand if it had clearly been used, but this pot is in its brand new pristine condition. This sadly has put me off ever returning. read more
