This is a must stop destination for downtown Beaverton Enter into a plant oasis of trinkets, ceramics, decor and cards. There's lots to see and explore. Store owner Andrea was helpful and friendly. Her dogs are so sweet as they make their rounds walking about. There's a mix of items here so it's not just house plants and indoor gardening types of things. Staghorn has an abundant selection of plants and unique home goods. It is difficult to find stores like this in central Portland, so well done, Beaverton! The staff are very helpful and will give you a tour based on your needs. I was thrilled to see a rare weeping willow blossom tree, perfect for anyone searching for a unique indoor and outdoor plant to add to their collection. I will have to return to purchase this next time I am training past the shop. From what I understand, Staghorn also hosts classes for sewing and potting plants. It's fantastic to view a shop that interacts with the community since we are all in need of better connections. Fabulous plant shop! All the plants are healthy and thriving and they have so many varieties. Those working are super knowledgeable and can make recommendations based in the lighting conditions in your space and the type if care you are willing to give. I say this because plants do need nurturing and some require more than others. They have lots of succulents and air plants which are very popular these days with people decorating in that stream lined mid century mid style, myself included. What sets the store apart is the variety and styles of the pots and planters. So many cute items! In addition to plants, they have some home decor and gift items, or gifts fir yourself! Decorative throws and pillows, the best coffee table books, scented candles and oils, lots of weaved baskets and wall hangings, macrame and even some clothing. I particularly love all the bamboo and wooden servers, charcuterie boards and cooking utensils. Adding wood to your space immediately adds warmth and interest to your space. Even though I live in Portland, I drive to Beaverton when I need a new plant or a gift or just because I want to see what's new in this charming shop. What a cute little store! Went during noon hours, not busy at all, and it had quite a sampling of various plants. The planter pots were a ridiculously good deal - instead of paying exorbitant amounts at a larger store, I felt I was supporting local business and getting good prices too. The cashiers were also extremely helpful. I have no green thumb, and they were able to offer some very good suggestions on how to keep, and propagate some of the plants I already have at home. I ended up taking home a cute little pot that cost $7, and am very pleased with the purchase! The owners couldn't be more kind and helpful, going as far as rescuing a couple of failing Staghorn ferns purchased elsewhere. Be sure to look for Juniper, the world's best shop dog. read more

This is the place I would go if I'm in the SW burbs of Tigard. They have so much fun stuff to look at and buy. All the plants looked super healthy and the prices were competitive. Such a cute little shop that we have always passed by but never taken the time to visit until the other day. The thing I like the most about this place is their wide variety of plants, as well as a patient and knowledge staff. They not only entertained my five year old's many questions, but also reassured me I would be able to keep our newly purchased prayer plant alive. Came in Thursday morning for some cards for Thanksgiving and Christmas, as I know this store supports small businesses as well. The store is a plant lovers dream! I love the green everywhere and little things here and there like cards, candles, clothing, and more! It's fun to walk around snd browse as they have much to see. I was greeted and walked in to see staff wearing masks, and was kindly reminded by an employee to get some hand sanitizer. The hand sanitizer was the perfect amount where it didn't feel like too much or too little. I saw what I was looking for took time to browse and look through the variety of cards, and picked out more than I planned. I also ended up buying some stickers. A new loyalty stamp card is available where you get a stamp for every 10 spent and at the end of filling all ten spots, 20% off an item. I liked that they texted a receipt instead of paper too. I came in early today to look at some plants :) found you guys from googling best plant nursery near me and I loved your reviews. Glad I came in! The owners were both so friendly. Wife opened the door for me so I can get my daughters stroller up the stem and her husband was wonderful with taking over as she left and answering all of my question and he was very patient. This was my first experience buying or looking or learning anything about plants and it was definitely a great experience. The selection is huge. Vases and holders are all so awesome. Initially I went in quite happy ready to find a new plant family member. I didn't look down to see the hand sanitizer sign, which are generally optional when it's offered. I was there to see plants after all. Appears "Karen" (typical white female) complained I didn't when my hand was full with a drink, and I don't like to sanitize my hands as I've medical condition which dries out badly.... plus it really does not make much of a difference... anyways, it really ruins the mood when there's customer back talking behind you even after I didn't say anything, and just sanitized cause if I didn't - I'm sure she'd have thrown a fit. Happens often to me or mom since we're Asians, and some do racial profiling, and I'm quite tired of it. As for the product like I didn't see any plant species you can't get for lower price point elsewhere, and many leaves were damaged for a specialty shop. I asked for locally made pots, but aside from ones made in WA, ones I liked were not made in USA. So couldn't justify the price again. With the 15 minute restriction, not much browsing is possible, and I was left feeling disappointed from lack of selections. I thought for sure I'd find a unique specimen and expected a better customer service as I waited a while just to speak with a rep. as Karen was taken up most their time - who obviously exceeded 15 minutes, of course, people who complain don't hold themselves accountable. I know a different store with better service and selection with healthier plants, so I'm out. If your just wanting a quick browse for grab and go I supposed this would suite ones need. As for me I like to spend time with any new plant to take home that'll come from a better ambience. read more

I had a moss ball plant that needed to have its mossball redone. Went in spoke with the ladies in the shop they are knowledgeable, friendly, and extraordinarily helpful,. They are really good at connecting to make sure you're well taken care of, and if one of their employees isn't sure on care instructions or specific needs, they are quick to go find the information you need. Cute store and friendly staff. Great COVID procedures. They fell short with me in knowing about the plants. I bought a bromeliad and did not know that there are multiple types of them. When I called to ask what type it was, they did not know. It was just labeled assorted. This is making it a bit difficult for me as a new plant owner to find the right information in how to trim it back and care for it and such. The other problem is that I was told it would grow bigger and need to be re-potted. After research it appears as if this plant actually dies an I need to trim off its babies. read more

I bought a couple prayer plants and was instructed improperly by a newer associate who checked me out regarding the plant care. They lost about 50% of their leaves due to me following those instructions BUT I reached out to let them know and they immediately found my receipt to see who checked me out, offered me a replacement, and assured me they want to be careful about their team's continued education. I just went to a fantastic macrame class at Spool and Pen! The class was taught by the owner of this store, who clearly knows her stuff. She is knowledgeable about her craft, cares about local artists, and made me feel so comfortable in this beginner macrame class. I never did macrame before and when the class was over a few hours later, I had learned several different stitches, additional techniques regarding draping and fringe, and best of all, felt able to tackle my next project by myself afterwards! This is my favourite place to buy plants in all of Portland! First of all, the shop owner is super kind, helpful, and really cares about helping you find your perfect gift, new piece for your home, or plant friend. You feel comfortable browsing the shop for as long as you want, and I often make a few rounds because there's so much selection to look at. Plants here are ALWAYS LUSH, and I've never gone to a place where the philodendrons were just spilling over, and you look at it on the shelf and just know you have to have it. She goes to the plant market often so every time I stop by, there's some new, extremely impressive, lush plant she picked out. Prices are veryyyyyy good.
