Great price for compost. Just pulled up with my pick up truck and they loaded into the back with their tractor. I do recommend having a tarp to line the bed. especially if you have a textured bedliner because the smell will hang around. The smallest volume you can buy is about a small pick up truck bed full. But it was a lot less expensive than buying individual bags. Plus, you don't have all the plastic waste. You will need a shovel and a wheelbarrow to get it to the backyard! read more

We hired this firm to deliver wood chips to suppress weed growth in a horse pasture. Either they didn't apply it to a proper depth or they brought in contaminated material but the end result was a deep weed forest in the area they applied chips to. (Interestingly the weeds are of a type not common on our property. ) When I contacted the owner to discuss the problem he was polite but completely "Teflon" and denied any role in the issue we were having. I cannot recommend anyone hire this firm for any similar project. read more

I had several yards of compost delivered for our garden this spring and I was very happy with my experience working with High Desert Mulching! They answered my call quickly, were pleasant, courteous and professional on the phone, and they were happy to take my payment information over the phone due to the current social distancing guidelines. At one point, the guy on the phone wasn't sure of the answer to my question and he took time to put the phone down and seek information from someone else. (Thank you for not making up an answer you were unsure about!) They delivered the compost more quickly than they had originally promised and the person who made the drop was also pleasant and professional. Received "ultra soil" for raised beds this spring 2023. Soil was full of small rocks and extremely dense. The soil blend had almost no organic matter. Planted in it anyway and plants did not respond well. If you buy this soil know that it is a filler at best and has to be amended with at least 75% organic matter to be viable at all. I was looking for soil to start a home garden with. As You may know [or are finding out], dirt ain't cheap! As I was calling to place my order for delivery, I ended up speaking with Nathan (the owner) by total happenstance, I explained to him what I was trying to accomplish and he totally blew me away with how helpful he was. He suggested something unique that was a lot more affordable for my budget but still did the same thing as the soils that are listed on their website. In addition to that, he worked with me on the delivery fee!! He saved me a good chunk of $$$ which I myself and my family are grateful for. So Overall, my review is 2 thumbs way up!! He was kind, professional, creative and totally understandable of my financial situation. I would most definitely come here again for my future gardening needs!!! On another note, I also spoke with another staff member (Brandon) who was also super nice and helpful! The delivery person was also super nice and considerate of where they were placing the dirt. We purchase ultra-soil from High Desert and it is like concrete. Plants do not grow in this soil. High Desert said they have never had complaints about the produce but when asked for a reference of uses, they will not provide one. We have provided pictures comparing plants in ultra-soil and Miracle Grow and there is no comparison. Plants in Miracle Grow are flourishing. After sending all the information to High Desert, they will not respond to repeated call for references to uses of the product. Very poor service. read more

They backed me into a corner on both product and service. Didn't have the product I ordered and didn't notify me until the morning of a scheduled $2,500 installation. They denied me priority scheduling for an alternate day (when they had the product) and I would have to go to the bottom of the scheduling list a month out. I had to accept the alternate product, no price break. Crew arrived three hours early because they didn't have another job to keep them busy. I asked them to return at the scheduled time because I had another obligation but they called their supervisor and the answer back was if I didn't have them perform the work right then they would cancel the job and leave. read more
