I have just had a magnificent experience with Patio World, from which I am in the midst of the…read moreprocess of ordering/taking delivery of some high end patio furniture. This is all a challenge now, due to Covid supply chain issues, etc. The first issue Patio World resolved to my great satisfaction was that they let me return almost $1000 worth of chair cushions. When the chairs themselves finally arrived this week, after being ordered online at the end of last summer, it turned out that the cushions that were the right size for the chair seats made the seat height much too high--in other words, it turned out that the chairs didn't need cushions at all, much less ones that were almost 3 inches thick. Patio World took them back and gave me a full refund, even though the cushions had been sitting unopened in a box in my garage awaiting the chairs' arrival for over a month. Yay, Mallory! The second great experience happened today when the cover for my new table and chairs turned out to be impossible to put on my new table, even though it was supposedly the correct size. Patio World took back the too-small cover (that was also wet when I brought it in, due to today's heavy rain) my husband and I could not fit onto the table and let me buy a larger size by covering only the price differential. Yay, Carrie! I will recommend Patio World to all my friends. It would have been so easy for them to just say "no" to me on both the cushions and the cover and instead they decided to say "yes." So I conclude this is a fantastic Bend business!!! I hope they will prosper greatly when they move to their new home on the west side. The Reed Mkt location is definitely a pain to enter and exit these days, so many people may pass them by in the meanwhile but I would encourage you to make the extra effort to get into the store and browse their great selection of patio furniture and related items. Also, they totally sit down and work with you to order something if they don't have what you need on the showroom floor. Thank you again Patio World!!!!!

Johnson Brothers Appliances - local appreciation

I recently purchased a range from Johnson Brothers Appliances. Daniel, the Director of Sales,…read moreassured me that he would assist me with any issues. However, when I called the next morning after the delivery, he was unhelpful and unpleasant! Initially, I was excited to use my new range! However, that evening, I noticed that the outside became extremely hot while baking a pizza. I called the next morning, and Eric answered the phone. He was rude and dismissed my concerns, stating that ranges are going to get hot. He transferred my call to Daniel, who argued with me, insisting that he didn't want to "play ring around the Rosie with me and ranges!" During another conversation, Daniel made it clear that this wasn't a "blouse I bought at Walmart that I wanted to return!" These responses were unacceptable! Consequently, I decided not to exchange the range and will not purchase from this unpleasant and unprofessional company again. I am disappointed with the poor customer service provided by this local appliance store. After enduring several unpleasant phone calls and writing a letter to them (which included a statement from their own service representative who inspected the range and identified a "poor design issue"), I finally received a refund. While they may be satisfactory when you make a purchase, they offer terrible customer service if you encounter any problems, even if you contact them within the 48-hour window after delivery. I cannot recommend this company!

It was scheduled for delivery to our home in La Pine on November 12, 2025. The Account Manager, Stephen Mount, met us shortly after our arrival. He was pleasant and cordial when showing us the various examples of the Speed Queen washers and dryers. He carefully explained the similarities and differences which we examined and considered. We settled on the stackable model because of our limited laundry room space. The stackable gave us additional useful space. The delivery, hookup, and demonstration took place by their delivery personnel Kyle and Axel. Both individuals were obviously experienced and very careful in both old appliance removal new appliance installation. The 4" exhaust tube was readily cut to an appropriate length and hooked up by two clamps. The 4-prong 240V electrical cord was only 6 feet long and barely reached the outlet at the bottom of the wall. However, Kyle was able to reverse the outlet plugin to make it fit. A slight recommendation on my part would be to carry both a 6-foot and 8-foot 240V cord to accommodate these instances. I'm highly impressed with both the knowledge and professionalism of their store staff and technical staff. They make purchases very easy and painless. I highly recommend Johnson Brothers for any household appliances you may need. They have a plethora of types, styles, and sizes to fit the need of every homeowner.

Bargreen Ellingson Restaurant Supply & Design - Lots of metal ware

Bargreen Ellingson Restaurant Supply & Design

Thank you Jamie for always being so helpful and working with me helping me find the right products…read morefor work. I know I can always count on you helping me!

Bargreen Ellingson is distributor of supplies and equipment to restaurants, bars, hotels,…read morejanitorial companies and caterers. The Bend store is one link in the national chain.. Although clearly a trade supply store and some things (as in glassware and dishes and flatware) are only sold in gross quantities , it is open for sales to the public and there are things here that home cooks can buy in singles that might come in handy. As example, on our most recent visit we purchased more of our fav things to buy at Bargreen...stainless steel whisks of various sizes in good quality at a fraction of the price of other retail. (We've given a number of these away and hence the return for more.) We also picked up a single muddler of pretty decent quality from the bar section. As another example, if you were in the market for a big plastic, food quality storage tub in which to brine a holiday turkey, this would be the place to find one at a decent price. Or a REALLY big, unbreakable, salad bowl to take that salad for 30 to the school potluck at a price point that wouldn't break the bank if it wasn't returned. Located in the building originally constructed a couple of years ago to house Austin Tile, a great business now sadly defunct due to Bend's recession, as you enter from the private parking lot (hooray - ample parking) you'll note all the stonework on the building exterior and a massive high ceilinged lobby with a sort of spiral staircase up to the second floor. (If you're not able to climb stairs, have no worries...there is an elevator at the rear of the first floor...with nicely mosaic tiled walls to remind us all of the original tile company.) In our experience, there has always been a very helpful someone at the front desk to ask if you're looking for something specific and to point you in that direction, or to invite you to wander if that's what you are there to do. Maybe it's just us, but our recent visit to Bargreen's it seemed darker, less well stocked and overall less "zing" than on earlier visits. Bargreen's seemed to show the impact of the economic slowdown in Bend. Hard to fathom as even now restaurants seem to be opening and closing and changing hands at a pretty good clip in this tourist fueled city of about 80,000 people. But maybe the restaurant ownership changes mean old existing equipment and materials get recycled not purchased new. The second floor is where the restaurant specific glassware, dishware, furniture and accent "stuff" (like menu covers) are displayed. The first floor houses bar supplies, janitorial supplies and a plethora of kitchen use / cookware of all knds. It's probably the second floor more than the first that shows the "bloom off the rose" these days. We are people who can easily entertain ourselves for long periods by looking about in well stocked cooking stores, even in smaller stores like the delightful Ginger's on Bend's westside or the kitchen / baking section of Newport Avenue Market. We go in for one thing, and end up browsing to find something else useful. When we travel, cooking stores (and great grocery stores for that matter) are destination stops for us. We had quite a lot of fun exploring Bargreens when they first opened in Bend...but now it's a place where we are on a hunt for something specific, we get it and leave. But three stars means AOK after all, and while we recognize we are not their target market, Bargreens is that for us as home cooks. .

But it wasn't without being harassed several times due to "late payment" when in fact the due date wasn't until the 15th. We had the due date changed from the 1st to the 15th prior to these calls. They'd call on the 3rd of the month nearly every month. Don't ignore them either or they'll call your references! Many times I told them to come and pick the set up and take it back because it wasn't worth being harassed. They didn't, they just wanted money. I never missed a month's payment, ever. I was so glad when I finally paid them off, it was pure relief. I've never been in jail before, but I imagine it was the equivalent of being released from jail. *deep breath* I could've bought the same set BRAND NEW, and OUTRIGHT for about $1000.00. Hind-sight is 20/20 though. If you can hold off, save your money, do whatever you gotta do and go to a store and buy whatever you're looking for outright. Don't mess with the mumbo-jumbo from Aarons.

And they do one heck of a job of doing so! Oh, and why not grab a free soda or coffee on your way back to said fasteners section!?! I stopped in here on my first day as a Bendite (and having been out of Oregon for 17 years) and I was beside myself with joy. I was instantly convinced that my return to my home state (wife and toddler in tow this time) was the right move. I even called my wife about the free soda. I couldn't believe it. I felt welcome there before a single person even knew I had walked in the door. There must be 1000 employees because (unlike some other stores at the north end of town) I seem to find one or two down every isle that immediately look at me with a smile and ask if they can help me with anything.
