We enjoyed a lovely green pizza. One of the best I've had. Super thin crust. Lots of flavor. It was rush time because of the pride festival they put on today. Fun upbeat music playing. Glad we could support local and pride.

Claim to be a family restaurant but they have Tarantino and his R-rated violence on the flat screen behind the bar on a Sunday afternoon. Mediocre pizza, BTW

I have ordered from this place a few times and they have always been super nice but they almost always messed up my order. I love that they are inclusive! I always get the vegan cheese because I am unable to have dairy. I love that they have vegan cheese. The most recent mess up was, last time I ordered they gave me a pizza with bacon on it. I don't eat bacon(for religious reasons ).I had to give it to someone else. This time the pizza looked like this(See picture attached). It has been a good place and good service but I will not be ordering anything from there anymore.

Second time at moondog, first time trying pesto based pizza. I was skeptical at first, but it turned out AMAZING! I would give it 5 stars, but my wife ordered the 2 slice lunch special and the slices of pepperoni pizza that came out looked terrible and tasted old.

Moondog is a special place. Not only is everyone made to feel welcome and safe when they come through the doors, but it's such a good bite to eat!! I've tried the Moon wings, the garlic knots, multiple hand tossed pies, and latest, a calzone that made me want to go kiss the chef lol. I've never been disappointed. Pull up to the bar and enjoy any of the handcrafted cocktails, wine, or beer and you'll be a happy camper. Thanks for being there Moondog!

Really enjoyed this place. It seems to be one of Morganton's best known restaurants to people that live outside of Morganton. I found the garlic knots to be your standard fare. The dough was done well, but basic. The real unique treat was the Dogfather Pizza (Dijon mustard base, pepperoni, salami, banana peppers, white onion, provolone). I've never had a mustard based pizza before, so this really stood out on the menu. We have to try Greenway still, but this is currently our #1 pizza place in Morganton

Food is creative and a lot of toppings offered. Open space with lively vibes! Food came out quickly as well.

The fact that our wonderful waitress went out of her way to correct a mere one-dollar error--without waiting for it to be discovered later--speaks volumes about her character. Even though she seemed pleasantly busy (or perhaps she's simply one of those delightful overachievers who takes genuine pride in her work), she still chose to do the right thing with a smile. It made me chuckle in the best way and turned an already lovely meal into something truly memorable. The food was perfect, the service was warm and thoughtful, and the entire experience left me feeling genuinely appreciated. Thank you, dear waitress, for your refreshing honesty and kind heart. How do I describe the Applebee's in Morganton, North Carolina? The building itself is acceptable…read moreexcept for the complete lack of comfortable seating. The waitstaff look tired and disinterested in their jobs. When they screw up your meal, you don't send it back to get fixed or remade unless you want them "giving it the extra special care/treatment" or "adding special sauce," as in the kitchen staff or your server doing something nasty to your food, including but not limited to saliva, hair, or in some cases putting extra protein on for a topping. The Applebee's in Morganton today was especially bad. When I arrived with my elderly friend, they refused to seat us in a comfortable location with a booth. Instead, they gave us these chairs that feel like they were designed by the head inquisitor Torquemada from the Spanish Inquisition. You cannot get comfortable in them at all. And they are so narrow that, no matter how heavy or how slim you are, either your butt crack is what you sit on or one butt cheek falls completely off the chair. Then a couple who came in fifteen minutes after us -- we were waiting so long that I was looking at my clock frequently and I am completely sure of the exact time -- received their food approximately twenty minutes ahead of us. One of them ordered steak and the other ordered chicken. You could see the plates clearly when the waitress carried them right past our table. I am not saying that Applebee's is deliberately discriminating, but when I take out my friend who is an eighty-five-year-old service-connected disabled combat veteran and we are made to wait while a couple who arrived after us is served their food before us, it smacks of some serious unfair treatment. Then, on top of everything else, my steak was not well done. We were there for a total of one hour and fifty-eight minutes from the time we walked in until the time we left. How it is possible that you cannot cook a steak well done in that amount of time is beyond me. I mean, knock off ten minutes because within ten minutes she had taken our order and placed it with our drinks. The appetizers came out and they were correct. I mean, it is hard to mess up pretzels and warm beer cheese, but you know this is Applebee's and somehow they still managed to ruin my steak. Well done means there should not be any pink or red or bleeding at all. This thing, when I cut into it, had a definite red slice running through it that covered about two-thirds of the entire steak. So the cook is either incompetent, stupid, or simply unable to read the ticket properly. I do not know which one of the three it is. And the waitress kept offering excuse after excuse. When the manager finally got over to our table, she tried to pressure me into accepting the mistake even though it was obviously not prepared the way I had ordered it. I finally told her, "Ma'am, this item needs to be removed from my bill right now," and she replied, "Okay, you do not have to be so defensive about it. I will take it off," like she was doing me some kind of big favor. She was not doing me a favor -- she was simply confirming what a poorly run operation this has become. Now I am posting this as a review and I am also sending it directly to corporate. That way, maybe they will take the necessary steps to save this restaurant because it used to be worthy of eating at. Nowadays I do not know what has happened to the standards or the priorities, but for goodness' sake they need to hire some capable staff who can actually do the job and actually serve the customers and rebuild the restaurant's reputation. Because right now this location is performing terribly and the experience is completely unacceptable.

But I wiggled my vehicle into a tight spot and went in for a burger and a beer. I believe there were about 10 to 12 options available on tap, and I went with what was listed as an Irish stout from somewhere in the Northeast. It wasn't bad, though it seemed more like an imperial stout. My sandwich choice was the Cowboy, with ground elk at its core. It was a good choice too, and the accompanying fried onions and melted cheese complemented the meat well. I ordered the burger medium, but I think I'd go for medium rare if I could go back in time. The medium option wasn't bad, but I think a little less heat and a little more moisture would only make things better. I kept things simple with the side item, going for the fries which were of the thinly sliced McDonald's variety, not bad but nothing remarkable. The server covering my table was pleasant and prompt, though soft spoken so I occasionally had to ask her to repeat herself amidst the music and noise. I wouldn't call any of these selections a bargain, but the prices didn't veer too far from what you'll find in many burger joints. All in all, not an earthshaking experience, but a place I'd be willing to go back to. 3.5 stars.

We found parking on a side street near Blowing Rock Brewing, so decided to enjoy a drink and get some lunch. We were seated quickly, near a heater, which was nice to help us warm up after being on the mountain. A waiter came by with menus to take our order. We asked for some suggestions, but he was a little less than enthused to offer advise. They had a good variety of beers, so my wife and I each got one, and shared them. We got the Pina Colada Kolsch and the Cloud Rise Hazy Ipa. Both were tasty, the Pina Colada Kolsch had a much stronger pineapple flavor than I expected, but in a good way. For food we started with the white cheddar poblano, which I expected to be more of a liquid queso for some reason. It was instead for of a soft, spread, which was really good, and paired well with the chips. And then we split the Turkey Reuben, which I figured would be made with deli meat, instead, it was warm, cooked chunks of turkey, really great flavor, and hit the spot for us. The sides with the sandwiches were a bit lacking, only offering hot chips, and green beans....I've never gotten the whole hot chip craze, but green beans just seamed like too odd of a side option for a sandwich It was a good visit, and a good meal, to get us back on our feet. Overall, a nice space, with bar seating, a back room, a back and front patio, plenty of space to hang out, relax and enjoy their beer. Food and drink were both good and worth a visit if you're in the area.
