I arrived at Blue 42 for dinner on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was busy. I was alone so I chose one of the high seats across from the bar so larger parties could take any other open spots. I didn't realize that this meant that the bartender would also be my server. She was really busy and I felt like some of the other servers could have helped out. I ended up waiting a bit before she was able to get away from the bar to take my drink order. I was there for a hot dog and they had some good options. I ended up choose the Rueben dog which had sauerkraut, swiss cheese, thousand island dressing. I also went with the Dipper fries (after asking what they were). It didn't take long for the food to arrive and I, admittedly, enjoyed eavesdropping on some of the conversations around me. :) It looked like the dog had been sitting under a warmer cause the thousand island was....dry?...looking. I went to pick up the bun and it was already coming apart. Not a great sign. On the bottom of the bun there was a small black spot. My suspicion was mold but I don't know that for sure. I cut it off. The whole hot dog fell apart after the first bite. Lots of wet toppings will do that to an untoasted bun. The hot dog itself was ok but I wanted more thousand island dressing. The Dipper fries were great. They are essentially Fritos scoops but as fries, fries that are cut in a scoop shape, and they are served with cheese sauce. What's not to like? I'd be interested in trying other items on the menu but probably wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

Interesting building and good burgers! Parking situation is a little tight if it's busy. Very small waiting/host stand area that is also combined with the payment line. When we were waiting there was quite a crowd in front of the door. Typical sports bar atmosphere. Very large menu with just about every American staple. I had the sliders and Josh had one of their stuffed burgers and we both were very impressed with the burgers! Cooked perfectly medium rare and decent sized! The food was pretty good and the service was excellent. We went on a quiet Sunday evening and sat outside on the patio area. It's located on a very busy corner of an intersection. On Sunday evening, it wasn't horrible however, I imagine on a day where there's high traffic it would be nearly impossible to enjoy yourself. They had one unisex bathroom that was pretty gross. I always check bathrooms at restaurants. Though the seat, sink and supply table surfaces were clean, the bottom of the toilet was gnarly. If I didn't have an additional 2 Hour drive to get home I definitely would have waited. The burger and fries we ordered was delicious, perfectly cooked and the veg served with it was very fresh and crisp. The French dip ribeye sandwich I ordered was heavenly. Probably one of the best French dips I've had in a while. If I lived locally, I would definitely go again, weighing the good with the bad it would be still worth it read more

We stopped in B42's on our way to Stateville. A little hard to find Google maps has it on the otherside of the road but glad we kept looking and found it. It's a very small restaurant maybe 8 tables and a few bar seats. The service was very friendly. We first wanted to order the crab dip appetizer but I wanted a few pieces of celery vs pita bread, since they serve wings I knew they'd have it, but they wanted $2 for that so we nix that. I ended up ordering a stuffed burger that was delicious. Hubby ordered grilled chicken sandwich which he said was very plain. This place was GREAT. We had to wait a bit for a table 'cause it was crowded - but after trying to food we were not at all surprised by the busy-ness. Even tho it was busy, service was great. We did go medium well 'cause a lot of reviews mention the burger being pink, but it was still super juicy and perfect. We also had the pretzel for an appetizer and again - totally blown away. So crisp and good. It came with queso, but we didn't even need it the pretzel was so delicious. I had the fish and chips which were great as well, crunchy and delicious. Just all so good. It IS a sports bar, but the tvs aren't loud or obtrusive. We could hear each other well. All in all a great experience! Ate at this place every now and then for the last 3 years and noticed its slow decline in quality during this year. A lot of people say they have the best burgers. While I would say they USED to have the best burgers, the quality is severely lacking. Especially with the Slider burgers. Once a used to be hand patties burger has been replaced with a flat frozen unbelievably thin piece of pressed meat. Think subpar McDonalds quality. Specifically for this order the fried mushrooms were extremely soggy and the breading just fell off. The fried mushrooms are frozen, the onions rings are frozen. We were so excited to find Red Oak Hummingbird Helles on tap! Very difficult to find in the western part of NC. For the food, everything is always fresh, perfectly cooked, and addictively tasty. Numerous specials not on the menu including brisket and hot crab dip (which I highly recommend). Burgers are always excellent. Love the vast options to customize. The brisket sandwich was fattier than I would have liked, yet very tasty. I added coleslaw, but ate it with a knife and fork due to the thickness of the brisket. The crisps were light and crispy.
