By the line waiting to order I thought I'd stumbled upon a gem of a burger place! However, I was sadly mistaken. The lady in front of me ordered several milkshakes with her order which the girl at the counter taking orders had to go make - which left the line of us ordering at a standstill for a good 15 minutes. I was just about to walk out when she finished and came back to take orders. Prices weren't terrible but our burgers were almost like hockey pucks - completely overcooked and the buns were stale with hard edges. Onion rings were also overcooked I wasn't sure if there were even any onions inside the breading. Ranch dip was tasty. Fountain drink machine was out of syrup - and all the tables were dirty. None of the employees looked happy to be there either. Will not be back. read more

Theres so much grease. On everything. Just, wow. Prices are good. Yes. Staff were decently welcoming, nothing note worthy. The flavor under the grease, is there. It is. But there's so much grease on the fries, onion rings, patty melt, and burgers...neither myself nor my 9 yo could finish even any of our food. We both started feeling sickly and left. While passing through the town of Morganton on our way back from the mountains. My girlfriend and I were starving and desperate for a nice filling lunch. We came across Uncle Eee's after doing some research online and it seemed like exactly what we were looking for. It is an old school small town neighborhood fast food joint. You go up and order at the counter. They have burgers, dogs, onion rings, milkshakes, all of the classics at reasonable prices. The line was long as there were many other hungry patrons, it's easy to see that this place is very popular. For good reason too! The line moved quickly as they had people working tirelessly behind the register taking orders, and on the grill flipping burgers. Our food came out quickly and it was delicious! Fine din in can be nice but sometimes all I want is a greasy burger in a non pretentious small town little dive and this place certainly delivered. read more

Finally decided to try this place after driving by it many times. It was alright. The burgers are not bad, not the best. The burger itself is maybe 4 stars. The issue is the place itself was not very clean. Lots of dirty tables and kind of run down looking. My friend who I went with also said he noticed the fryer oil looked very dark and dirty. I just feel there are nicer places to get decent burger in the area. read more

Four stars with a few caveats. Food wise, the burger was cooked fresh and had a nice sear and very good flavor. The hotdog was also tasty. The chili was among the better I've had, and the slaw was good as well. The fries were fine. Now for the caveats. Counter service only, and it is very loud inside--concrete and brick all around with no plush material to dampen any sounds. The biggest concern I had was the cleanliness. Overall, it seemed a bit grimy. The worst part was the door runner inside. It was actually sticky. This object that is supposed to be soft and absorb some dirt and debris from the shoes of patrons has surpassed its capacity and has become stiff and sticky. (Sorry I just used the phrase stiff and sticky.) But the sanitation grade was an A, and the food tasted very good, so I'm sticking with four stars. With a few caveats. read more

Very goood! Very quick! Very reasonably priced! My husband and I stopped in for a quick bite while doing errands. Gave our order right away, got our drinks at the soda fountain and we were served promptly. We each ordered the cheeseburger, fries, soda special for $6.75. Back in the day this place used to be so so good but now it's so mid. The fries don't even taste the same anymore. Service is bland, no one acts like they enjoy their job and it's an inconvenience that someone comes in and orders. Whenever I walked in there were stepped on fries on the floor. The lettuce and tomatoes are lower quality than McDonald's and seem either old or as if they've sat out room temperature for too long. Also it's pricey for no reason. I enjoy supporting local businesses but I can't excuse mediocrity. read more

We stopped in to try the burgers out and ordered two Jake combos, one with fries and one with onion rings. The restaurant is clean, service is friendly and fast and the food was fresh. Burgers were nicely seared, the fries were fresh and the onion rings were made from real onions and battered. There was a problem with the order which was quickly resolved to my satisfaction. Lots of toppings available for the burgers and hot dogs and corn dogs available too. This restaurants is as it presents, a no frills diner with fresh burgers and good service in the middle of downtown Morganton. I would visit again. read more

I might could understand it if the hotdogs were three feet long and there was a full pound of fries but, for what I ordered the price was inexcusable. I will NOT be back. I actually would rather eat at cook out for cheaper or at sonic. The space inside is very large and comfortable. I would like to see more people hanging out there! I had heard about Jack's Wayback Burgers and was in Morganton, NC last week. Well I got there and found it had changed ownership. The staff was nice and claimed the food was the same as before only the name had changed. To be honest the food was so-so. Not really impressed. read more

My son just got back from picking up our to-go order from Uncle Eee's and the Philly Burger is absolutely not worth the money. The bun was so soggy with grease I've had to peel half of it off and it's still barely edible. The patties are bland and they forgot one of our drinks. So I paid $12 for a barely edible burger, a tiny fry and one drink. Definitely not going here again. It was really good when it was Jake's Wayback. read more
