Myra's is a great throwback. Reminding you of simpler times. I hear people complain about the prices. I don't know what they are talking about. We order 4 meals which comes with loaded tots and a drink for around $40. Burger fries and a drink for $10 is not bad at all. Their hotdogs are great as well. Have been going to Myra's for years and the quality has not gone down. Best burgers in town, and I will continue to go there. They have car shows every now and then and everybody in town shows up. The service is excellent the staff is friendly it's like getting a home-cooked meal in a burger. And it still has that old town ambience that people enjoy. read more

I ordered a cheeseburger All the way!! In Valdese that means mustard, slaw, chilli, and onion. Not sautéed onions!!!!! The order was to go so by the time I got home the dang onions with the slaw and chilli had made the burger unedible. My wife hotdog with just ketchup and mustard was put together horrible. It's not the Myra's of old It's sad. When I called the person who answered did apologize , but didn't offer to make it right. The service time was great and the cashier/order taker was wonderful. Since there are two Yelp pages for this business, I'm just going to share my review to both pages. I've been eating at Myra's my ENTIRE life, mainly for their famous banana splits which were always my favorite growing up. I also have always enjoyed the old timey charm of the restaurant, and the food wasn't too bad either- until the restaurant slowly started declining in the 2010's. The food is more costly and more bland, and the staff is downright RUDE now. I miss the southern hospitality! But there is one thing I recently ordered which I really enjoyed, and that was the hand cut potato chips. So that being said, go here for snacks or dessert, not so much for dinner. I really hope to see Myra's do better in the future, because I'd hate to see them close down! read more

I haven't eaten there is a couple of years, then the cheese burgers use to be great. Ate there today and the cheeseburger was far from what it use to be. The bun was hard and cold. They need to heat the buns in a steamer or something to bring back the old time taste. Next time I will ask for my bun to be steamed or heated if not, I will not eat there again. Another restaurant that after reading the reviews you have to wonder whether all these posters were at the same spot! This is a total retro '50s drive-in, n fact that what it started out as - a Frosty Freeze, that opened in the late 1950's. It changed names several times since then, and has doubled in size in the process. The food is mainly burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, fries, and soft serve ice cream - though they do have some plate choices, including one featuring Liver Pudding. The ice cream here was excellent, and there was a good amount of it for the price. The hot dog, on the other hand, was not one I'd order again, weak chili & strong onions are not a good pairing! All in all, this a cool place to visit in a quaint little mountain town. We'll stop in the next time we're traveling down I-40. They have a Cruise-In with vintage '50 & '60s cars on most Friday nights! read more

Myras was supposed to cater a luncheon on Sunday for our church and no one showed up. Called but the man who was supposed to arrange this wasn't answering his phone. I drive an hour away to eat here because my fiancé and I use to love this place. Twice now we have arrived an hour before closing and they were already closing and all we were told was "sorry. It's such a shame that in the last year it has just went downhill. We won't be going back we will find something else and closer to our house. read more

I walked in and ordered a single soft-serve shake. I then had to wait for over 30 minutes while other customers who arrived after I did, were given their food pretty quickly. I literally had to step in front of one of the employees in order to get their attention and ask where my shake was. Was a good little drive in at one time but those days are as lost in the 50's. It takes a special kind of bad to screw up a BLT but this place manages to find a way to do it to my surprise. I settled on the BLT because I was turned off by what I saw coming out of the kitchen but that too the simplest of items was not edible. We went to Myra's for the ice cream. It was a favorite stop for my teens when we go to Valdese to visit their grandmother. We've been several times. The food is fine...typical greasy diner food. The ice cream options are great, if they have the products they are advertising in stock. The staff is less than friendly. There have been times where the teenage staff would argue with my elderly mother-in-law about what she ordered...I tried to address the rudeness with the manager, but he was ruder...so, it makes sense that the staff acts like their leader. 1st thing is that there were 3 people in the front, 1 male, 2 females. There was only one person fixing the food, a very busy young woman. One woman in the front had time to be on her cell phone texting, one was wiping down, and the boy was taking forever fixing milkshakes. Then he proceeded to get a spoonful of ice-cream from the container of ice-cream and ate it. One of the females told him not to. He argued that why not it's a clean spoon. The customers could see all of this. Meanwhile the female cooking hasn't had any help at all. I ordered a shake and fried Pickles. Now I have been there many times through the years. The Pickles were terrible, the breading fell off and were not good. They need to go back to what they use to serve. The shake was made from some type of ice-cream that had Bits of chocolate pieces and maybe brownie Bits. I asked for a old fashioned chocolate shake which I have bought for years from there. This was not it. I live out of Valdese and was on the way home , so no driving back to Myras. I threw away 3/4 of the shake and also the Pickles. Needless to say not a good experience. read more

This place was terrible. We decided to stop by because we had never been and this place looked awesome to get ice cream after our meal across the street. We ordered a banana split. The uninterested cashier said oh well we're out of strawberry ice cream so we said OK. We will do cookies and cream instead. It took several minutes to get the order started but then she started it. She's like oh we're out of cookies and cream too and we're out of chocolate. We were like OK is there any in the back? She said no. It was clear that she was just too lazy to go get more ice cream out of the back because who runs out of the basic flavors of ice cream. so we had to choose this nasty blue Cookie Monster, ice cream, vanilla and lemon blueberry cake or something like that. I am not sure who trained this girl to make anything dealing with any type of food because what we received was horrible. The scoops were very tiny. The cookie monster was a blue puddle of melted ice cream in the banana split. It was obvious that ice cream had not been held at the correct temperature. The whip cream was like a strip of whip cream on the top. I asked if she was going to put some on and she said she did. I'm like oh. I didn't see it. Hardly any toppings. we took the ice cream and didn't send it back because at that point what was the point because there were no other flavors. We watched the same girl attempt to make ice cream for other people and you could tell that she was either not trained properly or didn't care to even try to make things look decent. Love love love this place. My boyfriend and I have been going here just about every Friday night. It's not just for the car show, which by the way are fun. Not just for the DJ music that plays too. But the food it pretty good and the people are the best. I give a ton a credit to the kids that hold up the front line. They get a huge crowd when it's the Friday Night Cruse-In. This place is absolutely a gem. I would have never discovered it if it weren't for my brief stint of employment at the bank next door. I remember going there, having no real expectation just knowing that it was a short walk over in the summer heat and I was hungry for a good lunch. The girl working the counter was very friendly, and receptive when I said I wasn't from the area and was looking for a recommendation. She recommended the club sandwich and oh man what a recommendation. The sandwich was absolutely delicious, only matched by the fries. They have a strong lime taste from what I remember and pair marvelously with the sandwich. I doubt I'll ever get the opportunity to eat here again but I would in a second. read more

A cute little ice cream and burger joint with a throwback to the 50s feel to it. Stopped in with my Mom on a Saturday after a lovely ride through the NC countryside. She and my dad come in every once in awhile and she'd been telling me how wonderful it was so happy to give it a try. They serve both soft serve and hard ice cream. Sundaes and things are made default with soft serve but they'll make you something with the regular hard ice cream if you want which is what we opted for. Mom enjoyed a banana split that looked simply wonderful and I had a scoops of vanilla and black cherry with butterscotch sauce and nuts. Mmmmm yummy. Also tried their onion rings - made with diced onions (so probably I suspect frozen) they were nothing outstanding but were a nice salty accompaniment to our afternoon snack. Staff is mostly smiling local teenagers and the menu is small and limited to the likes of burgers, fries and ice cream. Counter stools and booth seating available along with tables outside but service is limited to picking up orders at the counter so just remember what you ordered and listen up for it to be called out. read more

After hiking in the mountains this morning, I took the scenic route home on US Highway 70. I was getting hungry just about the time I passed by Myra's. I thought it looked like a cute little diner, so I went in. Nice 50s theme. Kind, helpful staff. The fried bologna sandwich was excellent. Nice thick slice of bologna fried perfectly and placed on a toasted bun. Scrumptious! French fries were good but had a light batter, something I don't usually prefer. Added bonus: local color; random tractor traveling right down main street complete with farmer, daughter, and hay bales. read more

My wife and I stopped in this evening for ice cream. We walked inside because I wanted to look at the menu. We ordered and my wife received her parfait. About 5 minutes passed and I still hadn't received my sundae that I had ordered. I commented to my wife about the sad customer service and a woman in the booth beside us began cursing at us calling me rude. My wife told her to shut up and was assaulted by her and then the woman called the cops. After all of this the owner gave me the excuse that all her employees are 15 year old kids and I never got my ice cream. The owner didn't even offer me a refund. Terrible customer service read more

I wont go back. I ordered a Milkshake. On the menu board there are "toppings" but no indication that the toppings are extra...no price...nothing. I thought $3.89 was a pretty high price for a Milkshake but, unknowingly, I added two toppings at 80 cents each and ended up with a Milkshake well in excess of $5. I don't mind paying for what I order...but when menus are deceiving ... that just pisses me off. Sorry Myra...not going to your place any more... please be honest. read more

My wife and I ate there last week It had been a while since we had been there. We had a hamburger and a barbecue sandwich. Neither one was very good. The thing that bothered us more than anything was the flies in the restaurant. I started to ask for a flyswatter but my wife stopped me. It was not busy at all and the girls behind the counter were just standing around. At least they could have used their time Wisely and killed some flys. We may go back to order ice cream from the walk up window but will never get any other type of food there. There is a McDonald's just down the road and they have Myras beat serval times over. read more

If there's one thing I know, it's if I get their food to go, it's more than likely that the hotdogs will always have soggy buns, and their fried have too much seasoning. Their little Italy part of their establishment is atrocious! The food always tastes like it's out of a can and they over cook their pasta..... all of it. It's not worth the money. HORRIBLE customer service!!!! I stopped by last night to grab some ice cream it was about 30 minutes until close, I stood at the window waiting to order. There were two younger blonde haired girls, and a young man with dark hair, whom were all employees. I noticed them mopping, again 30 minutes before time to close. The young lady just stared at me. She looked back at the other two staff members who then looked up at me and continued mopping. Nobody came to the window to greet me, nobody came to take my order. I was really disappointed, they could of at least greeted me or told me that they were closing early or something? I just left after being looked at and ignored. Today I called to ask them about it and to ask about their business hours, once again I was treated with the upmost disrespect. The staff member who answered the phone told me " We close whenever we want, if it's cold, or if it's slow then we might close at 9 we might close at 930, we don't know when we close it just all depends." When they informed me of this I told them that it would be good to update that info on their website so customers know that closing hours depend on business and weather. The staff member responded by saying "yeah well maybe we should change a lot of things" then proceeded to hang up on me. After being hung up on I called back to speak with a member of management. Management just used the excuse that some of their staff members are new and that they do not know how to use the proper expectations. The management was not empathetic, they seem very unorganized closing whenever they feel, they do not handle customer complaints the way they should, and they don't seem to care about their guest experience or the quality of customer service they provide. If this business wants to keep guest coming back they really need to learn to be respectful of their guest, and provide better customer service. I will NOT be coming back. read more

The service was terrible! The man taking orders was rude to the older guy in front of us (who didn't do or say anything rude) and us. The ice cream was decent, nothing spectacular. They charge for the most ridiculous things for example, if you buy a banana split you expect nuts to come with it. Well you can also expect to pay another dollar because that's an "extra condiment". Was probably expecting something different so it didn't quite meet what I'd wanted it to me. Had some cheeseburgers, hotdogs and a Reuben. Weekday lunch. The ketchup pump was empty and probably had been for a while. The place was steady busy but not slammed. The fries were frozen variety. With a seasoning salt. Burgers...I have no idea what kind of patty it was? Fresh or frozen? It was very dark in color. The all the way burger was Fine. I was nervous about the meat but it was OK. I don't know. The kids and wife really like this place and come about every Saturday, mainly because it's close to a typical Saturday routine. For me it's okay nothing over the top special. I brought my kids and boyfriend here to eat. Me and my kids had not eaten here in a couple of years. Boyfriend had never ate here. I thought he would love it but after the rude "manager" rushed us and gave us all kinds of attitude and was so very rude it was a horrible experience!
