This is a hidden gem! To say this is a family friendly winery is an understatement. This is a very small winery, but you will learn more and enjoy this more than you expect. Our experience started with Mikey (the winery dog) greeting us so sweetly. David and Pricilla are the wine makers who share their time, laughs and knowledge so freely. I have to tell you another highlight of our time was Minnie (the mini horse). I really had no expectations, but my mind was blown! They walked us around and showed us their other horses. I guess I would be remiss to not mention the wine...delicious! We ended up leaving with 5 bottles! Great people and great wine! You can't go wrong here. Can't wait until our next trip out to come say hi again read more

Moondance Cellars - Wineries Near Me - Sebastopol, California

There were six of us that spent a long weekend in both Napa and Sonoma. Moondance was number 4 out of six total wineries that we visited and it was by far the most memorable. We were all blown away by Priscilla's hospitality and we enjoyed every wine that was served. You can taste the passion for winemaking in the wines! We were late to the appointment, but instead of rushing through a tasting, we ended up taking our sweet time, talking with Priscilla and meeting other friends on the property (Mike the dog and Mini Me the miniature horse). This was a truly unique experience and the highlight of my wine tasting adventures. read more

Thank you David and Priscilla. From the moment we pulled into your driveway, until we (sadly) had to leave, you made us feel so welcome. You taught me so much about wine, and also about the process, and the area. It truly felt like visiting a friend. Look forward to visiting again. read more

We first visited Moondance in Glen Ellen, and now they've moved to Sebastopol. Their wine was so good that we joined their wine club on our first tasting. Two years later, their wine is better than ever! I highly recommend all of their wines, but the Chardonnay and Cabernets are my personal favorites. read more

Moondance Cellars - The tasting room! - Wineries Near Me - Sebastopol, California

This is a fun spot off the beaten path. David and P were wonderful and welcoming. The whites, which are usually not my favorites, were unexpected and very nice. The Reds...what can I say about the Reds except that they were deep, rich and fabulous. Not your usual snobby uptight winery. We will be back and bring the friends and family. read more

Priscilla was super friendly and took a lot of care with us as we went through the tastings of 6 different wines from this small and homely winery In Sebastopol. With a nod to Van Morrison and a dog named Mike, how can you possibly go wrong with this cute if unusual little spot! read more

I took my wife here for here birthday in November. We had a great time! David was very pleasant to our party of four and even taught us a little history about the area. The wine was incredible. I walked away with some delicious Zin. The property was beautiful we even got to check out some hotrods which my brother-in-law and I thoroughly enjoyed. Over all a great experience. I would highly recommend going to visit David, Priscilla and Mike. Cheers! read more

We had an amazing time! Our host Dave was the greatest, funny, down to earth and informative. He and his wife have a beautiful setting with a lot of wonderful things to see and interact with. The wine is beyond delicious. I can't say enough about this slice if heaven. read more

My husband and I tasted last weekend with another couple, we are repeat visitors and love this place. The whole package is here; friendly, down to earth owners, incredibly delicious award winning wine, incredible views and the cutest fur babies, Mike and Milo. I always feel so blissful when we visit this place! I wish we lived closer to visit more often. read more

This is one of our top wine experiences ever. I don't have much new to add to the chorus of praise that's already been heaped upon Moondance, and specifically both David and Priscilla. All of the good things others have written are spot-on. My group consisted of two couple plus two 3-year olds, and we spent the better part of a great afternoon hanging out, chatting, and trying fantastic wine. The dog, horses, and cars are all nice supplements, but David and "P"--plus their wines, of course--are the real stars. They are both super engaging, friendly folks who make their guests feel at home (which this place, in fact, is). David did the wine pouring while P led our girls on a series of adventures through the property before we all linked up again at the end for more conversation, some of it about wine. If you're ever in the Petaluma area and are thinking even a little bit about trying out a small-production winery, this is your place. You'll be glad you did! read more

These hosts are amazing! Super flexible as we called last minute. Gave us a little tour while tasting and our dog had the time of his life hanging out at the farm. Wines were amazing and the conversation was just as amazing. Best wine experience of our trip, and we had done tons of high ends tastings before and after this. If you're looking for an off the beaten path, true wine country experience, this is NOT to be missed. read more

This is hands down one of my favorite tastings I have ever been to! We made an appointment and showed up to a beautiful property with amazing views of the rolling hills. We had our tasting with David who was a wealth of knowledge, I personally fell in love with the Pinot (great prices wine) the topping on the cake for me was talking cars with David and seeing all the beautiful horses. As a car girl who loves wine this was a little slice of heaven. I highly recommend this down to earth wine cellar for some amazing wine and company. I will definitely be making this a stop every time I come up here from now on. Cheers. read more

Had an awesome time chatting and tasting with the owners. Incredibly friendly and genuine people that make some great wines!

Had a fantastic afternoon at Moondance. Dave and Precilla were wonderful hosts, showed us around their property including horses and old cars, and generally treated us like family. A refreshing personal experience compared to large winery tasting rooms. And, the wine was great too! read more

What a treat of a place! We called to see if they had any last minute tastings on NYE, David picked up and accommodated us with a welcoming voice! This tasting room tucked in the outskirts of Sebastopol and Cotati was breathtaking. Their property was beautiful and very inviting. After chatting it up with David for a few minutes you felt like a friend...I could've sat there and sipped on wine all afternoon with him and his wife Priscilla. Especially with the horses grazing away and a quaint little pond with a weeping willow brushing lightly on the water. If you're into classic cars, you've gotta go check out David's collection that's been polished and one that he's just starting on! Besides the cute tasting room and beautiful outdoor space, the WINE WAS DELIGHTFUL! Of course we picked up a couple of bottles to ring in the new year! Thanks David for being great and making great wine for us to enjoy! We'll be back with friends and family for sure! I did however forgot to put our name on the mailing list! I want to partake in the pick up party we heard about! "It's a marvelous night for a Moondance!" Must go! read more

We had an amazing time visiting Moondance Cellars on our way to San Francisco. Not only did we do wine tasting for free, but we got to chat with the owner david and his wife who were very welcoming showing us their horses , the goat and dog and David's beautiful antique automobiles that were in his very organized garage. We bought two bottles of great wine and if we come back to Sonoma one day, we will love to visit this lovely, hidden gem again. read more

Super fun place, look for Dave he's awesome. Try his wines you'll find something you like. My favs were the Pinot and cab!

Great hospitality and wine at this unassuming tasting room. Make sure to call ahead to that they know you are coming since they need to open the gate for you. We had such a great time. read more

I read about this cellar after they won several awards (double gold in the Chronicle and a few others) and had been wanting to visit them. They should get an award for a visit to their tasting room too! It's in a cute little barn and there are horses and a miniature horse (in a separate barn) and doggies, and the owners were so nice. A true family winery. If you're looking for stuffy snobby or ultra-commercial go elsewhere. Their '13 cab was amazing - super fruit forward and low tannins. If you have a large group I'd call ahead though, the tasting room is very small. Overall had a very nice visit and will be back. read more

Who doesn't love these folks? And their pinot is pricey, but out of this world. Just call ahead - they've always been able to accommodate our family. And say hi to mini me while you're there! read more

The best small winery in Russian River! Great wine and stories! Definitely recommend for couples and groups!

David and Priscilla welcomed us like family to their wonderful winery in the hills of Sebastopol. The property is gorgeous and the tasting is free! The cabernet sauvignon is particularly wonderful, but all the wine is great. We loved getting to chat with David and Priscilla and ate our picnic dinner at the tables out by the pond. The horses are sweeties and Mike is a crazy little Jack Russell who likes head scratches. Call ahead for a drop-in tasting and enjoy beautiful Moondance Cellars! read more

This place was such a fun and different experience. Tasting room is small and would be a bit crowded with larger group, however, not a problem with a reservation and smaller group. Fun farm... horses and such. Wine is very good and very reasonably priced. Off the beaten path in Sonoma and worth a visit. read more

We had the best time visiting David, Priscilla, Mike (the dog), Minnie moo (the mini horse), the large horses and the beautiful property. They are so friendly and gracious and the wine is spectacular! Hope to see them again soon. read more

I've been wine tasting for about 15 years now. I've increasingly been getting turned off by Sonoma. It's starting to go with the way of Napa and become impersonal, expensive, and a little snooty at times. Then I stumbled upon Moondance Cellars. OMG... I've never had a wine tasting experience like this before. Priscilla and Dave were the perfect hosts, despite calling for an appointment at about 4:30 on a Saturday night. I'm sure they had better things to do. Nevertheless, they welcomed us with open arms. We were introduced to dogs, horses, and hot rods. This was hands-down the best wine tasting experience I've ever had. I left with a $45 bottle of pino, which is fantastic. The cab that everyone's raving about was not only fantastic, but has a unique story behind how it's made. I'm going to make you visit to hear it. :) I would have bought a bottle of the cab too, but it was a little out of my price range. The spirit of old Sonoma still exists. Moondance is proof of that. You just have to dig a little deeper to find it now. read more

Great people, amazing wine, a few friendly horses and the boss, a dog named Mike. We spent a week touring wineries all along the possible continuum across Napa and Sonoma, but, unexpectedly, this one moved to the top of my list despite not having an air conditioned tasting room on a toasty, 98F day. There's nothing "corporate" about it, but we loved the wine and the wine-makers here. And definitely worth noting: they extended us our hosts' member discounts when we bought wine there. The other corporate joints along Route 128 didn't do us that solid. When we're back this way, we won't miss this hidden gem. And everybody gets to pet Mike. read more

I'll be telling all my friends about Moondance! Hanging with owners David & Priscilla was like hanging out with old friends we didn't know we had. They're warm and inviting and fun. And they make great wines in small amounts so you're truly drinking something special. Generous tastes and the opp to buy wine you won't find at the big box wine stores. And I got to play with the new puppy and Mini Me - they're miniature horse! It's very worth the ride for a little day trip - make it a destination. They do "pop up" tasting which simply means calling them up, tell them you're coming and they'll open the gate. Have fun! read more

We loved visiting Dave and Priscilla at Moondance Cellars. This off-the-beaten-path winery offers great wines and a down to earth wine tasting experience. This is not a fancy place but D & P offer great company and really care about the small batch wines they make. A craft wine shop at its best is worth a try. So stop by Moondance Cellars right outside of Sebastopol. read more

Why does this winery have a 5 star rating? Because it deserves it. Let's start with the wine tasting experience. I have been coming to the Napa-Sonoma area tasting wines for 50 years. This winery will give you an idea of what it was like 50 years ago. Informative, casual, lack of pressure to buy and above all great wines. I called and David, the owner, answered and we made an appointment. There were 6 of us in mid-October. It turned out we were the only appointment he had for that morning. The tasting was outside at an old picnic table. Perfect! We then spent 2hours tasting wine, getting a great history of each wine an the area were they are grown. Each wine exceeded my expectation. Beautiful, complex and affordable. The tasting was like $10. You will not pay that because you will take wine with you when you leave. I joined the club and I will get just 2 shipments a year. Perfect! Keep this place a secret, only tell the best of your friends. read more

Love this place!!! One of a kind and very personal wine tasting experience. Wine selection is great. Don't forget to say hi to Mike the dog!
