Hot Korean Chicken 18$
Betty C.

I have been eating moonbowls since they came to ruff road. I've seen the quality degrade immensely. I decided to give them another try as they sent me a coupon. Never again. First off, the menu consist of fried chicken and fake meats only. Ordered the chili chicken crunch bowl. Of all the years I've been ordering here, this is the most disappointing entree I've ever gotten. DRY- that is the summary for everything. Dry rice, dry chicken, dry pineapple (how is that even possible?). The kale salad side has been significantly reduced in size. This bowl is so bland I can't even finish it. Ending with, I'm really disappointed because moonbowls was my go to when they first came out. Super sad to see a business flounder like this.

This is a cloud kitchen for quick take out bowls. Not sure how healthy this place is, but I was looking for a healthier option and decided to try this place. I ordered the steak bowl with jasmine rice, roasted broccoli, roasted sweet potatoes and cucumber salad and a grilled bbq chicken side to share. The food was more on the bland side, and much of the flavor came from the sauce and lemon. The rice to everything ratio was off. There was a lot of rice and I probably had 3-4 pieces of sweet potatoes and broccoli, and not enough steak which is kind of a rip off in terms of price. Luckily I had the chicken side as well.

Got the bbq chicken bowl with a jasmine rice base, roasted broccoli, sauteed mushroom, and jammy egg for the sides, and korean bbq sauce. Also got the steak bowl with brown rice base, corn salad, cucumber salad, and sauteed mushroom sides, and spicy gochujang sauce. Ordering was a breeze online, with a 20-minute wait time quoted. It ended up taking about 30 minutes (we checked the kiosk inside the Ruff Food Pick-up location), with a phone notification only coming in AFTER we already picked up our food. All of the items in our bowls had great flavor and consistency, both the meats and the veggies, really good quality. We were not too impressed with the dressings though. The gochujang sauce wasn't spicy at all, and the korean bbq sauce was vinegary and watery, I just wasn't a fan of this. Good news is, the food was so good, it didn't need sauce.

Cockroach in food

Do NOT order from this "restaurant". I will never order from this place again. We found a cockroach inside of the food. That is highly disgusting and unacceptable. I will be reporting this to the department of health. This place should be shut down. If you have ordered from this place before who knows how many cockroaches you have accidentally eaten because of the unsanitary conditions of this place.

Love moon bowls. It feels healthy and you can customize your sides. Perfect amount of ingredients. I like their kale and pineapple sides. I only had moon bowls a few times and would like to try other sauces. Overall, a good recommendation if you're craving something healthy or filling.

Not bad. This place is located near the San Jose airport. It's a bit interesting....there's no place to sit inside or anything... you just order on the kiosk or online, wait 5-10 min and then u pop open a locker to get your food. I would say it is a little on the pricier side but I was still really full after I had my meal. Got the impossible beef bowl and the tofu sesame bowl. Location is a little sketch and there were some weird people hanging around close by

I didn't expect the food to be anything special, since it's a cloud kitchen. The concept itself is pretty cool, since you don't need to deal with anybody. You just check in on the tablet and the locker room will pop out inside. I got the avocado bulgogi, bbq chicken bowl, and a brownie. Both of the bowls were pretty good and healthy. The brownie was also delicious, but a bit pricey. It's an awesome way to try out different foods in one place for your convenience.

Had a chance to try Moonbowls when i ordered it from Uber Eats and it was a great experience. This is located in the Local Kitchens where it's a ghost kitchen where you can get other types of foods. The cool thing is this was a touch less experience where you don't talk to anyone and the food was in a locker once I checked in. For food I ordered the bbq chicken bowl which was really yummy. The chicken was flavorful and juicy with brown rice and I got it with sweet potatoes, kale salad and corn. The flavors were amazing. For my dressing I got the ginger sesame vinaigrette which was a little on the tart side - the which I did not love. Next time I would get a different dressing but overall the bowl was reallyy good. Worth checking out for something to try at Local Kitchens!

Steak bowl with spicy special sauce, cucumber salad, corn salad, pickled onions, and sautéed mushroom

Used delivery service for This lunch order so I cannot speak to pick up service. However I ordered the Steak bowl with rice base, spicy special sauce, pickled onions, cucumber salad, and sautéed mushrooms. I did add a little corn salad that my coworker ordered a side of, so that portion isn't true to portion size. Also shared some steak with him so that's why steak portion may look small. Delicious bowl! All the flavor profiles went so well with each other. Maybe just wish I would have added either an egg or avocado.

The avocado bulgogi bowl is AMAZING. Super flavorful, and they were very generous with the amount of impossible meat. No joke one of the best meals I've had in a while. The menu is very vegan friendly (they don't use dairy at all so most dressings are vegan too) and well labelled.

Sesame Tofu Bowl

So good! I ordered delivery so I can't comment on the ambience. Customer service was great and delivery was fast. I got the sesame tofu bowl with mushroom, broccoli and sweet potatoes with the creamy sesame sauce. Delicious, fresh and gluten free! Next time I'll order extra creamy sesame sauce because it was so good.

I was looking for something like Gogobop in LA so I tried this place. This place is like a Korean style Chipotle since you can build your own bowl. I ordered through DoorDash so I can't say much about the service nor the ambiance. My order: Steak bowl with jasmine rice as my choice of base; roasted sweet potatoes, roasted broccoli, and cucumber salad as my three sides; sweet Korean BBQ sauce The rice to steak ratio was off. The rice was buried under the steak and my sides (which is fine) but I felt like I got less than one scoop of rice. Wished it was more balanced. The steak was good but not as flavorful as I thought it'd be. The sauce wasn't overly sweet but was a nice addition that made the steak less dry. The sweet potatoes were nicely roasted. I liked that the broccoli was only lightly roasted. The cucumber salad was just cucumber slices soaked in some vinegar I think. What I ordered didn't taste very Korean inspired, but it was still decent. Food was super healthy and light though.

I got the steak bowls as takeout and I was impressed with the portions! I got a heap of fresh beef, and with my chosen sides as broccoli, kale salad, and mushrooms, it paired wonderfully. I have a small appetite, so I even saved some of the beef for a future meal. I loved the sweet BBQ sauce and my boyfriend loved his crunchy chili sauce (as someone who can tolerate a lot of spice). I would definitely eat from this place again!

The reason why I came over here fairly recently was because I visited cousins and cousin in law that live near to give them Valkyries shirts and other shirts they'll send to the Philippines in over a month, and since they plan to be sending clothes over while telling me about the place, I gave them my Kate Martin and Kaitlyn Chen jerseys for the trouble as I needed to make room for my Veronica Burton jersey, which I wore when I met up with them, and my upcoming violet Gabby Williams one. (Go Valks!) The noteworthy parts the place has are the real good amount of banchan dishes, bibimbap and the short rib, the spicy one in particular. While I probably will not visit the place again anytime soon, at least I can keep this place in mind if I want Korean food without driving to Santa Clara. There's plenty of parking behind the spot. As you come in, the place looks simple, but it works. You have the adorable ajumma/ajumni to take your order. The stuff I ordered. I had water, banana milk and kimchi fried rice. Since I was the only one that had more than 1 drink, I told my cousins and cousin in law the banana milk, and they did bring up how on occasion, you see the drink in K-dramas. Of course, we laughed on how my parents never got into K-dramas and while I'm at it, Filipino dramas. Oh well. Oh, there's no doubt the food is good, and the place is too legit (to quit) as I did hear Korean from a different table. As I typed up, there are plenty of banchan dishes. Not Los Angeles amount of banchan dishes, but there are plenty of banchan dishes never the less. The kimchi fried rice dish may be simple, but it does give off that homey feel. Can't forget how Big actually is affordable, the big reason why my cousins and cousin in law like the place so much. The reason why the place doesn't get a perfect score. The place would have received a perfect score if, the major matter I remember here, the place has mul naengmyun (my favorite Korean dish). Originally, I wanted Japanese ramen before my cousins mentioned this place, and I was ready to pivot to having mul naengmyun, but I was told that the place doesn't carry the noodle dish. (Being a very good and logical dish to eat for at the very least half of the year in a city like here San Jose is the reason why of all of the Korean dishes, I like mul naengmyun the most.) There probably is one or two minor flaws I already forgot, but the lack of mul naengmyun is the dead on reason why I don't give the place a perfect score. On a side note, it's nice that I told the group what banana milk and mul naengmyun are, and by doing so, they learn something new regarding eating at Korean spots just in case. BigSpoon is a good spot. While it may not be as iconic as the places in Santa Clara, it is a good spot never the less. It does a good job at being a Korean spot for an area that is more so known for Mexican food. If you live on the east side, head on over here because the place should get your attention. +/BigSpoon is brilliant and spiffy because it has a terrific combination of good simple food, affordability and wonderful service. -/If only the place also has mul naengmyun.

I'm glad I did and was definitely delighted by the experience. Hot Stone Bibimbap 5/5: There was a review on Yelp saying that there was no crunchy rice at the bottom and that it was bland. As a fellow Korean, let me give you some advice. Wait a few minutes and let the rice cook more because the stone bowl is still hot. lift up the bottom until you see crunchy bits and then you could start mixing. Excellent mix of seasoned vegetables and rice. They give you the gochujang bottle sauce on the side. you can adjust it to your level. Soon Tofu Soup 5/5. I've had a lot of tofu soup of what I like about this one is that it had a good balance of tofu, kimchi was not super sour like some restaurants and they give you an egg on the side. Very clean finish. Banchan 5/5: The highlight for me was the banchan. I went with a very picky eater friend and she really loved the kimchi ,the cucumber kimchi ,the fish cakes, japchae. They put a lot of effort into making the banchan - which I recognize right away. They also fill up if you run out and the dishes are larger than normal restaurants. Amazing. You read my mind. Interior 4/5: It is a smaller, more intimate seating.( about 25-30 people) . It still has the vibes of of a Korean eatery with K-pop music playing on the TV screen, wooden benches and chairs. You'll have to wait a bit if you go during peak hours and parking is a bit difficult. I suggest going within the first hour they open up when there's less crowds.

Plenty of tofu and a generous amount of beef. I also loved all the sides they included along with a bowl of rice. Every side dish was delicious, but the kimchi especially stood out. Honestly some of the best kimchi I've had in a long time. The portion was enough for both my daughter and I to share, though that's probably because we're both sick and couldn't eat too much. We're definitely looking forward to ordering from here again. Would love to try the seafood pancake and some of their other dishes next time!

They only offered two types of banchan (not even kimchi), and they were out of all dishes that included meat or beef. It was surprising for a Korean restaurant to not have Korean BBQ or short ribs available. My seafood tofu soup barely had any seafood, and I had to point out to the waiter that there was no shrimp at all. He later returned with a cheap frozen seafood mix and said they use a seafood mix, which was disappointing considering the higher quality seafood they used to serve (including head-on shrimp). They also did not serve the usual purple rice this time -- instead we were given dry white rice that seemed reheated.
