I've gotten the Chili Crunch Chicken bowl a few more times since my first review and things have definitely improved! The sides are consistently delicious, the ranch is flavorful and not crazy salty (must've been an off day), and the ratio of rice to the rest of the ingredients is much better. The one slight negative for me is that the seasoning on the chicken tends to be inconsistent - sometimes it has little to none and other times it has a generous amount. Not a huge deal but it tastes noticeably better when well seasoned. Really glad I gave this place another chance, it's been great for when I want a healthy option that's still satisfying. read more

FYI...This location is a ghost kitchen! The concept is pretty neat and comparable to an Asian Chipotle. The portions are a bit small and inconsistent. You can pick your choice of protein, grains, three sides and a side dressing. The sides aren't anything to drool over, but the protein is quite flavorful and well cooked. The food was more on the bland side, and much of the flavor came from the sauce and lemon. The rice to everything ratio was off. There was a lot of rice and I probably had 3-4 pieces of sweet potatoes and broccoli, and not enough steak which is kind of a rip off in terms of price. I had always been intrigued by this place because 1) it's delivery/takeout only in a food hall hosting other takeout "ghost kitchens" and 2) of their Yelp rating for a place that was takeout/delivery only. When I finally got the opportunity to try it because of Uber Eats B1G1 offers... I was pretty disappointed. They are Korean style bowls, but for what they are... they were very "meh" in terms of flavor and a bit of a rip off in terms of price. FOOD: Hot Korean Chicken with Scallion Rice: This tasted decent but also missed the mark. The concept of boneless Korean chicken is not new, but the breading was soft and mushy. Maybe the was due to the delivery, but I couldn't imagine it being better fresher. They also really skimped on the chicken to rice portion, like maybe 5 small pieces? The toppings were interesting with the pineapple, peppers, and kale... but it also didn't make sense / compliment the chicken. And the scallion rice was... crunchy. Like, maybe it was undercooked? It was not appealing. Sesame Surprise w/ Yam Noodles: Maybe it was the fact I got the yam noodles... BUT THIS WAS SO FLAVORLESS. It was interesting the variety in toppings, but it tasted so bland put together that made you wonder "why bother?" It was still so bland even with the sauce, which I'm not even sure if they gave me the right sauce now that I'm looking at photos here (my sauce was a spicy red sauce, not the tan sauce I'm seeing). I couldn't taste the sesame in my "sesame" surprise at all, maybe that was the surprise? VALUE: We need to talk about this... I get it, delivery is convenient. But every bowl we got was unsatisfying. Especially that Hot Korean Chicken bowl with like 5 pieces of chicken and a lot of hard rice. I also took advantage of Uber Eats B1G1 offers, which allowed me to get 4 bowls for a little over ~$30. At regular price with bowls a little over $15 (depending on your carb)... this isn't worth it! I recommend getting takeout / bibimbap from an actual local Korean restaurant, or even those Chipotle style bibimbap places. OVERALL: I'm glad I got to try this place at a discount via Uber Eats, but I will not be ordering from here again. It's just not worth it at the regular price and lack of flavor, especially when there are so many other options. I will hand it to them... if you're looking for high quality and gluten free, then this may be your place. Maybe you're looking to pick up for a company lunch where people's palettes / diets vary greatly. I think moonbowls market strength lies in there.
