In my book, Moon Valley Nurseries is A#1 in customer service. These windy storms wreaked havoc on our Brazilian Pepper tree- broken branches and full limbs were damaged. We got 2 estimates... one didn't bother follow up. Moon Valley was responsive, scheduled promptly and left our yard in better shape than they found it. Anthony, the tree cutter was concerned that I know exactly what he was cutting and why. He and his crew did a beautiful job. All the leaves and little sticks that fell in the yard? Gone. Branches along side the house that had broken off and waiting for trash pick up? Gone. I was very impressed.. but this is the over-the-top customer service Moon Valley is known for. Ricardo Ramos was the Foreman for my job. They trimmed very tall ficus and did an amazing work. It was a like a high wire circus act for them to go up high enough to reduce the height but also create that nice green wall- look that I wanted. The whole team was terrific- they used safety gear, laid down tarp over my faux grass to protect it, and cleaned up after so the yard looked amazing. had a sales person come price trees for us, decided on two fruitless olives. they were "huge" trees. we paid over 2500$ and went to pick our trees. they were saplings! and had olives! we decided to cancel the order, and were punished by the manager, he didn't cancel our order or issue a refund. we got an email saying they would be delivered almost 2 weeks after cancellation. bottom line, the trees here are WAY overpriced. we bought two trees (that are actually trees and no fruit) for less money and better service with WITFILL NURSERY we recommend them highly! read more

I called to get a quote for a tree stump removal, and spoke with Leon MacKey. I sent a picture, as requested, and he gave me a price. I called with my credit card, he insisted taking the full payment before work starred and before a date for removal, but i figured it was Moon Valley, and they are respectable. Leon told me I would hear back in 24-48 hours. The next day he called back saying there was a problem with my Amex. I guess he tried again, because when I checked online billing there it was the full charge. When 48 hours had passed and I heard from no one, I texted and asked why. He answered that the charge never went through. I called Amex, and they informed me that Moon had issued a full credit the day after the charge was made. I don't know why, but Leon either didn't know or lied. I don't care, i got my money back, but wonder what the owner, Les Blake, would say. read more

Just a quick note of gratitude towards this company and the install crew that put our trees in. First off, the initial experience at the nursery was wonderful, all questions and concerns we answered with honesty and our best interest in mind. We felt very comfortable with our purchase, and could not have asked for such service without a being rushed in any way whatsoever. Now the install crew....all I can say is that they were amazing. Scott and his crew, which BTW are also located out of the 7th St location, had such professionalism and knowledge about the benefit and placement of our trees. Scott had some great advice about where would be the best location, and optimum spacing for them. He also helped us with an extra tree for our yard, which after talking to him made perfect sense on how it would help with our yard. a minute ago If I could leave no stars I would. I have had an open complaint with Moon Valley since June. They refuse to address my concerns. I filed with the BBB and the representative from MV has lied to the BBB that they have been in contact with me and that I signed off on service calls. I was not at home both times a crew was sent out. The second crew was sent out because the sales person was NOT happy with the job when she drove down my street. I contacted 4 individuals within the organization and not one person has contacted me back. My complaint stemmed from the fact that they billed for services not provided. I agreed to pay for what was done..but not what wasn't. Beware..they take your money upfront and proclaim satisfaction guaranteed but if you have issue with work done...it's crickets. Many other nurseries out there that deserve your business over MV. UPDATE: MV continues to provide false information to the BBB about this dispute. They have stated that I was present with all work and signed off on it. Easily disproven by my employment records. Besides poor customer service, add dishonest to the list. I will say that this may just be dishonesty of the one employee responding on behalf of the company to the BBB, but their actions are determining the companies reputation. read more

We spent thousands of dollars at this nursery a year ago to have our yard landscaped. This week, 3 of the trees that they planted are falling over. We had to literally prop them up with whatever we could find. When I called to ask for help, they wanted to charge me $59 a tree to correct the problem. Apparently they were supposed to be double staked, but they did not do that initially and are expecting me to pay for their error. They are professionals and should know better. They are very overpriced, which I was willing to accept if service was superior, but the way they handled this situation was very disappointing. I will never do business with them again. read more

Just picked out a Christmas tree. The selection and customer service was very good. I would recommend.

We had Moon Valley out in November to trim two trees in our backyard that were overgrown. Both are 10 years old, one medium about 15 ft tall and the other large around 30-40 ft tall. They were touching the porch roof and the walls, and one was touching the house roof. We explained that the goal was to shape them, raise them up and reduce the circumference so they are not touching the house and porch or hanging too far into the neighbors' yards. Moon Valley was the most expensive company but the rep said that after they trimmed the trees we wouldn't need to do it again for 2 years, and he said a lot of things that sounded good so we went with them. There were communication issues, though. The rep said we were scheduled and we'd get a call with a time frame but when I didn't get the call I called the office and the scheduling lady said she didn't have us on the books. We eventually got all that squared away and on the day of service four guys came out to do the trimming and they were done less than 2 hours later. No ladders or major equipment were needed. They did stand on the wall for some of it but otherwise reached from the ground. They did hollow out a lot of the biggest tree (Arizona Ash) and raised the bottom up so we could walk under it so that one turned out ok, though I did go back in to trim some low hanging branches that were touching the wall again just a couple months later. The other tree (Purple Plum) they did shape so it didn't look like it wasn't leaning anymore, and they took off the lower branches to raise it up. However, in the process they accidentally sawed into the trunk leaving a large gash which is not only ugly but could impact the trees overall health. The next week two center branches dropped so far that they were almost touching the ground and had to be cut off. Additionally, while the shape looked nice, they did not decrease the circumference enough. They barely brought it away from the patio and roof (less than a foot) so after just a few months it's touching the patio and roof again and blocking the path around to the side of the house. Since I was told that the trimming would last two years and it needs to be trimmed again after only one year, I am very disappointed and frankly, mad that I paid $1,500. I was also told that someone would call after the service to check in and see how things went and I planned to address all of this with them but no one ever called. Attached are before and after pictures of both trees (before on left and after on right, two views of each). Overall, the shapes look nice but the trimming was not drastic enough to be long lasting and the main goals were not 100% met, in addition to the very high price and scheduling hassle. I will be looking at other companies when we decide to pay someone to come trim them again and I am not likely to recommend them to anyone I know for their tree trimming needs. read more

Setting up the appointment and everything was all done by phone and text to send pictures so they knew exactly what it was that they had to deal with when they got here. The crew that showed up was very kind they did exactly what they were supposed to do. I spent thousands of dollars on 5 trees. I had to have everyone replaced, thank God for their warranty. They have no idea about root systems and if a tree is suited for your yard. I had to take 2 of the trees out or they would have lifted my curbing and my patio. Take heed, they are twice the price of anywhere else and do a song and dance. We had a great experience this week with our tree removal crew from Moon Valley Nurseries. The three crew members for tree removal, led by Humberto, were courteous, efficient and skilled. They removed a large, thorny acacia tree from our front yard in a bit over an hour. It is the thorniest, messiest tree ever, but their cleanup was so good no one could tell they had been there. The next day, the stump grinding crew arrived, led by Robert Wright, and also did an excellent and thorough job. We were also impressed with the company checklist that the crews are required to complete (of which we got a copy), to make sure everything was done properly. Check out our photos. We had a dead mesquite in the back yard of our newly purchased home. Moon Valley provided excellent service with a thorough cleanup. About ten days later, they returned to grind out the stump and once again completely cleaned up afterwards. They kept to the time schedule promised and did a great job.
