I ate at this restaurant with a newly-made friend, and we ordered meals that were very filling. I only paid about $44 total with tip included for both of our meals, and I was very satisfied. The food was hearty, and there was nothing that I could really complain about. We were both quiet while eating because it was just that good. I would say that this is the best restaurantthat I went to in Lakewood, especially for the portion size with the carbs in your combo meal. I did not try the coffee myself, but my friend had a regular latte and did not have any standout comments -- it seemed just fine. We went during brunch hours, and the restaurant was pretty busy. There was maybe a 10-minute wait for a standard table, but we opted to sit at the bar area, which seats about 6 people. The staff were very attentive. They made sure that our water was refilled, condiments were available, and we were updated on how long the food would take. Our meals took about 30 minutes, but the kitchen clearly takes the time to ensure each dish is well-prepared. Parking was decent. They have designated spots for the restaurant -- about 3 of them at the front -- which is helpful given how busy the area can get. By the time we left around 1300 or 1PM, there was a line of maybe 8 people, so I recommend going earlier in the brunch window, like 1100 to 1200, or 11AM to 12PM The only downside that I noticed was that the space felt a bit tight. Navigating between tables was tricky. You could hear conversations from nearby diners, and getting to the bathroom required frequently saying "excuse me." It would be nice if the layout allowed for a bit more room, either by removing a table or reorganizing the seating.

The drinks and breakfasts were great. I would give this place a 3.5-4 if could because it would be great to have condiments not in plastic containers but overall very tasty! The food we ate was delicioussssssssss!!! It is out of our way but if I was in this area I would come again. It's in a strip mall type of building next to the DMV. Nonetheless, it was busy and packed! Signs of a great spot.

This is our favorite breakfast place. The staff are always friendly and the food is delicious. The establishment is owned by locals who grew up in Lakewood so you feel good about spending your money here. The atmosphere is laid back and always clean. I recommend the Monte Cristo sandwich, it sounds odd on paper but it is so good!

If you want a hearty breakfast or brunch, this is the spot! The service was impeccable even with it being so busy. It was crowded but never too noisy. I would definitely come back here for brunch/breakfast!

The wait list was long when we arrived 30-40 minute wait, however we got in within 15 minutes. The service was quick, thorough, and receptive to minor change requests. Although they were super busy, the food came in a decent amount of time, hot fresh and so delicious. I definitely recommend this convenient breakfast place. The lunch menu looked amazing as well.

Just moved to the area for work with the Army, and Moon Rise Cafe was the first place we hit up for breakfast. It's in a shopping center in Lakewood, so parking is shared. We got lucky and parked right in front. The staff greeted us warmly and merged tables to fit our group of six. We waited about 5-10 minutes--not a big deal. I ordered the Monte Cristo with house fries, and it was delicious! The portions were huge. Their biscuit with gravy was decent too. One area for improvement would be for the staff to be more courteous, hospitable, and friendly, especially when serving customers. Overall, I'd recommend this place and I'll definitely be back.

DO NOT SKIP THIS PLACE! Traveling from out of town for a few days and my son wanted breakfast. A quick search found Moon Rise Cafe, and so glad we went. Cozy, hometown diner feel with limited seating as it's a single space in a strip mall. Friendly staff with helpful recommendations. I had the Monte Carlo at the recommendation of our cute waitress. My son had the meat omelet. Hash browns are heavenly! Hot Cocoa shouldn't be skipped even if it's warm outside. My son even asked to go back, but unfortunately they weren't open on Sunday. If I'm ever back in the area, I promise to be back!

Don't sleep on this place. Biscuits are quite good, nice flavor on sausage, gravy isn't too thick. Bacon is high quality and perfectly cooked. But the main event? THE HASHBROWNS! They are worth the visit alone. Angel hair strings, crunchy, crispy and yet soft. Are they deep fried? Did angels descend from heaven and make them? Who knows, but I will be back!

Another amazing breakfast at Moon Rise! Kate D. was again her amazing self. She genuinely works to make your experience great every time you come in. The Cheesecake Biscuits (I was skeptical) are very good, we got the fudge one and it was delicious. The Moon Rise breakfast sandwich with their amazing sausage patty would make McD so jealous. If it has not been on your Yelp list to try, shame on you as this place is awesome in every way.

Tbh I wasn't impressed when I came in because this is a little hole in the wall and the decor is a bit basic and dreary. Glad we didn't leave because this place has the hashiest hash browns I've ever had. If i had to guess at how they make it, I'd say they finely shred the potato so that it's almost stringy, then they throw it on the grill as thin as they can, flip it when it's crisp and as it finishes, they roll it up into a burrito, because the potatoes are crispy inide and out. This is the way ha browns should be done. The rest of the breakfast wass also basic, but satisfying. I ordewred the Classic Breakfast with sausage and it was a thick hand made patty of sausage and it was cool to see how much they care they put into it. Our waitress was lovely and the place filled up fast, with people waiting to get into this very small restaurant. Clearly this is a local favorite and it should be.

Eggs Benedict

We got there not long after open. It was a first time visit for us and we had heard mixed reviews. But, we're a try it ourselves mindset. They're a pretty small spot that seems popular. We both ordered the eggs Benedict. The English muffin was extremely difficult to cut, even with the provided steak knife. The hashbrowns were cooked that seemed to be thrown in a fryer almost to the point of burnt. We could smell them as soon as they hit the table. The hollandaise sauce was just meh. However, the ham was thinly shaved and delicious. I don't know if we hit it on an off day, but neither of us were impressed and not desiring to return.

The restaurant is small and when we walked in all of the tables were full. This is always a good sign. There were a couple of stools open at the bar/cashier station so we took those. Since I have developed this new intolerance, I had to order items separately. No problem at all for our server, Bailey. (Who is adorable by the way.) Scrambled eggs, sausage, patty, cottage cheese, and fruit. Steve ordered Choi's omelette, with sourdough toast, and cottage cheese to substitute the hashbrowns. While we waited, we enjoyed the happy atmosphere. Customers and servers alike. Diverse and comfortable. Since we were at the cashier station, most of the servers had to come around and they all seemed to be in pretty good moods, which says a lot about a workplace and how it is run. The service was on point. We were getting coffee and water refills without even seeing it happen. When the food came out, it was all perfectly cooked and all of the ingredients seemed really fresh. I got fresh grapes for my side of fruit and they were just right. We're happy to find this place. It is on our list of favorites when we are in that area.

The servers are very friendly, I was greeted with a smile which was very pleasant. The place itself wasn't super busy, I was able to get a seat very quickly. There are definitely some regulars that seem to love this spot and I can see why. It's a quiet, small yet welcoming place. I picked this spot based on its good reviews. I was able to order my coffee and meal quickly. The coffee was perfect. It was absolutely delicious. I did wait quite a while for my food to come out (as did the other patrons) but the food was delicious. I decided to try the sandwich because it sounded good and refreshing with the tomato and avocado. I also got a side of hash browns... more like a MOUND of hashbrowns which I could not finish but I saved them for tomorrow's breakfast. I loved the sandwich and the hashbrowns I could definitely see myself ordering this again. I will be back to try more items on the menu.

I usually enjoy the salt bread on its own, but this time I tried the salt bread with red bean. The buttery, salty bread paired with the sweet red bean created a really nice balance. Instead of using syrup like most places, they blend it with real strawberry purée, and you can absolutely taste the difference. It's fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. The shop has a cozy, inviting vibe, and the owner was super friendly and quick. You can tell they take pride in their drinks and ingredients. If you're a matcha lover (or just love a good strawberry moment), do yourself a favor and try their strawberry matcha. They have different desserts and sandwiches available as well which I can't wait to try soon! Coffee Kitchen just jumped to the top of my Tacoma favorites!

They make their syrups inhouse, and you can tell, even a basic caramel latte tasted like the most delicate, handcrafted drink. They have fun seasonals, they're a hit or miss obviously based on your preferences, but I love them all so far. My go to drink pairing is a cardamon and ginger latte. The inside is SO HOMEY. It's rare to find coffee shops that haven't succumbed to the hospital white aesthetic, so this is so refreshing on the head. It is the ideal shop to study in. The cups and plates are my favorite thing about this place. The cups are handmade and just so stinking cute. The baristas are so welcoming every single time I come in, they look like they just love their job and love to chat with the customers. The outside of the shop is a mint green which really throws me off because the inside is so cute. The parking situation is a little limited as well, there's a few parking spots near the shop and the rest is street parking. They have a large selection of pastries and some food but know that if you come in the afternoon there probably won't be much left, they go pretty quick. Amazing shop, it's a different aesthetic than what most shops are but it feeds that "homey" craving that I have when I want to study at a coffee shop.

The wait is a little long and I feel that is because they take their time with each cup they make. Seating is scarce so if you plan to enjoy your cup inside, do come in when they open because it fills up really quick. My only recommendation if they look into the reviews is to remove the center table and put 2 more 2 seater tables if it still allows within capacity. Never change. Your coffee is great.

The shop itself is pretty small with only a few seats and tables and there wasn't any customers present when I first walked in but it has a nice aesthetic going on so I'd imagine it would be an ideal place to chill with friends if you're craving boba; otherwise, nothing wrong with picking up your fave drinks and skedaddling home either. There was just one employee behind the counter when I entered the shop, but it wasn't busy so it was fine and once more people started coming in after me and a line was forming, another employee showed up to help out. The service was actually really good though, and the worker was super nice, quick, and got my order right even though he was solo at first. I ordered three drinks: the taro Oreo slush, coconut matcha latte, and Thai tea (with boba in the last two), and they were all SOOO good. The drinks were super creamy and flavorful, and the boba was made really well. Like soft and chewy, not hard at all. I also got two macarons (a créme brulée and a matcha), and omgoth, they're not the tiny ones you usually see. They're pretty big and thick, which explains the approximate $4.50 price, but they were totally worth it. Definitely suggest trying at least one. Prices overall felt pretty average for boba, not cheap but not crazy either. Oh yeah, I think the drinks only come in one size (I don't recall there being a Small or Large option). There's a lot of parking since it's in an Asian plaza, but it does get really busy because Sol Boba is right next to H Mart, so there was practically no parking in front of the shop and I feel like the spaces are kinda tight. There is banner/sign saying "under new management" at the front, but since this was my first time visiting, I can't really say much on that? Overall though, it was a great first-time experience since the drinks were delish so I will definitely come back!
