The good: I'm over the moon for Moon Donuts! I ordered customized letter donuts that read "Here Comes the Son" for my baby shower. It was easy to order through Instagram and was around $53. They were very flexible and asked for my design ideas and inspo. The donuts were tasty and not overly sweet. They were light and not heavy in oil nor did they have too much frosting. I look forward to ordering from them again. The bad: They weren't always the most responsive thru IG. I wish they had an online ordering form. I was hoping they'd incorporate "Sun" shapes or theme a little more than just the color scheme but I think next time I'll just be more specific. I bought donuts on New Years Eve for my family and my sister's family who were visiting from a different state and the donuts tasted old and hard. I called the store and spoke to TY who was very nice and apologized and said we are closed on New Year's Day and to bring them on Friday so he could give me fresh ones. I went in today and there is a lady by the name Lisa working and she went against what TY had told me and was extremely extremely rude and was yelling at TY and said that he is new and doesn't know anything. I am very disappointed because I have been going to this donut shop for years and she said told me "I don't care if you don't come back here." Lisa is not fit to manage the store when the owner is not there. She is very unprofessional. She also should not be talking to TY or any co worker in that time in front of customers. read more

My daughter was so excited to try this places donuts. When she bit into it, she saw this big long hair in it. We didn't have time to go back because we went on vacation. We took a photo of the hairy donut and called to ask if we could get our money back ($6.00) for the donut. They wanted the physical donut or would do nothing. I explained that we didn't have the donut and just the picture. The lady started screaming and yelling at me, "saying no donut no refund and that she didn't care about me". I let her know I'd be placing this review and she screamed at me that she didn't care. Hmmm... I drove a half hour out of my way because this place had such rave reviews. What a letdown. The shop was on a corner and the building green which stood out as easy to find. The doors were literally open giving off a friendly vibe. Donuts were colorful and plentiful and visually appealing. I got half a dozen (4 glazed and 2 specialty). The guy working said $8.75 but when I went to pay with credit card he mumbles how they prefer cash. So I attempted to pay in cash but only had $5-6 so said sorry and sheepishly stuck my card back out. He then says "oh not $8.75 its $8.95 plus extra charge for cc fee so $9.45". Whatever bleh. I was still excited hoping they taste good because then I have my new shop as I love to bring donuts for kids events. I judge based on glazed donuts and I'm sorry but it was awful. 37-year resident here. I've been going to Moon Donuts for over three decades and have always found them to be close to outstanding in nearly every way. It's been my go-to place--especially when I want to pick up a box or two to take to the police or fire department as a gesture of appreciation for their service. Unfortunately, today's experience was very different. The frosting on all the cake donuts looked carelessly applied--none of that glossy, precise finish we've come to expect over the years. I ordered a jelly donut and a cake donut. The cake donut had frosting haphazardly splattered on it. The jelly donut's glaze looked uneven, with patchy sugar blotches. But the real shock came when I took a bite of the jelly donut: inside was a black spider, swimming in the red jelly. I immediately returned it to the cashier, who politely asked if I'd like a replacement. Of course, I did--but I left feeling unsettled. Sadly, it seems the quality at Moon Donuts has changed. The donuts sloppy exterior and surprising interior now reflects a deeper issue. Something's just not right. read more

Local donut shop in the small strip mall. Parking is limited but the turnover is high you probably will find a spot soon enough. Cambodian owner makes various donuts. I saw the Thai tea donut and asked where they are from. They do try to update their menu to include new things like cronuts, UBE and such. They did not have a lot of fancy cronuts left but I liked the Nutella cronut. I am a Danish fan so I probably preferred a regular Danish as it is lighter but I would love to try their fancy cronuts next time I'd they have any left! Blueberry cheesecake one or the strawberry with whipped cream looked pretty but a gentleman waiting behind me really wanted them and I kind of felt bad and let him order those. Apple fritter is in a generous portion and the hint of cinnamon is nice but I would prefer other kinds here. They have many different kinds so pick your favorite! Overal quality was good but the pricing on Yelp seems much lower than what the menu is. If you preorder, you could get letter donuts like HAPPY BIRTHDAY ie shape of an H. That would be a fun way to surprise the birthday boy/girl! We didn't need any drinks but you could also order drinks like boba here along with donuts. No seating. We dropped by as we we're waiting for our friends at Hainan chicken sharing the same parking lot. read more

Yes, yes get them! You won't be sorry. LA has tons of really good donut shops, and these rank right on up there. They are so fluffy, not overly sweet but sweet enough. There's always a little bit of a line but get there at around 10a and it'll be fine. It's so worth it.
