Too Good To Go App Review I found this place while searching online for a quick snack to bring my partner at work. I originally planned on getting just two or three donuts, but I ended up leaving with a whole bag because everything looked so good! These aren't your average donuts..they're creative, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Even hours later, or even the next day, they still taste amazing. A few seconds in the microwave or air fryer makes them taste almost fresh again. There were so many donuts that my partner ended up sharing them with his coworkers, and they were a huge hit. It was nice knowing more people got to try them, especially since they all live nearby while we don't. Anyone I know who lives in that area will definitely be getting my recommendation. The customer service has been excellent both times I've visited. I've gone once during a busy rush and once when it was slow, and the service was just as friendly and efficient each time. I even asked the staff for their favorite flavors, and they were happy to share recommendations. I'll definitely be back for him to try more flavors. Man, I hate to do this because while they weren't my favorite as I don't go for the "exotic" donuts, I really never had any complaints or problems with these guys--especially as one of the few surviving spots in the area. But just now, all that changed. As a 5 AM customer, I am accustomed to light, fluffy, and warm donuts. I ordered an apple fritter, maple old fashioned, and a sugar twist. Seven-something for the bag and a buck with change in the tip jar. The girl working the counter was adorable and super sweet, no complaints there. The Apple Fritter: Hard. No doubt in my mind it's been on this earth for a day at least. A few times I bit down on a piece that made me genuinely concerned I had broken a tooth. I tried to be realistic--maybe they weren't big sellers, times are tough, and everybody is pinching their pennies--so I let it go and told myself the other two would be just fine. The Maple Old Fashioned: I plucked it from the bag a little miffed because my inner child really wanted a vanilla sprinkle, but there were none. First thing I noticed as I broke off a piece: also hard. But they are normally a little harder, right? Nope. This too bore the signs of a day-old donut. Had that been all, I might have just ignored it and moved on. The real issue was the strong aftertaste of what I believe was cinnamon--just enough to be noticeably bitter. Never in my life have I not finished a donut, but this was downright gross tasting. Part of me wonders if my palate was off, but it was too much for me and I quit. The Sugar Twist: Begging for a donut that had been calling my name throughout my early morning laundry duties, I eagerly reached for the sugar twist. I was met with the familiar grainy sugar coating and prepared to consume this lone donut with extreme prejudice for the failures of those that came before it... Folks, when I tell you this was more of a grocery store croissant dressed up like a sugar twist, I mean it. Strangely layered, and just not at all what you would think the ingredients of a donut could be assembled into without a complete disregard for the art. Back in the bag it went, and the morning officially became a complete wash. Looking over the reviews, I see no follow-up from Moon's on any of them. From what I saw, I apparently just picked three bad ones out of an entire shop of donuts. I fail to see how that is possible, but it's either that or, as I suspect, the result of an increasingly desperate economy and perhaps a dash of "don't give a f***k". If this review goes unanswered, I will not be coming back. Pursuing a refund seems silly, but I do believe some accountability and humility are in order because I don't think this was an accident. I believe it is more of a new business practice, and if you're going to tell me that these were all fresh and to the standards set in prior years, I will know that to be a lie--and that insult will be enough to ensure I never return. Fly me to the moon....Moon Donuts that is! A local gem in Redondo Beach in tiny strip mall on Torrance Blvd. Stopped by on a Sunday morning because I wanted to get two bagels with cream cheese. A few customers were ahead of me and the guy at the counter took care of them quickly. Lots of choices from standard, typical donuts to specialty ones as well as savory croissants and sandwiches. Check out my photos of donuts! I was here on Super Bowl Sunday morning and they had football donuts. At the cold beverages counter there were also many plastic to go cups filled with OJ. Appeared to be freshly squeezed that AM. Will likely return to try a cup another time. Customer service was kind and efficient. Moon Donuts shares a lime-green strip mall with a smoke shop and a chicken shop. But on a weekend morning, all of the bustle is donut-focused; expect a steady stream of customers. My partner and I arrived mid-morning on a Sunday, and the staff were quick to take our order. We decided on an Apple Fritter and a Cookie Cronut. Moon's fritter was unlike any I've ever had. Uniquely, it was filled with walnuts, but the apple flavor was minimal; perhaps the donut would be more aptly described as a "cinnamon-walnut fritter". The dough was dense, crispy, and syrupy (all pros to me), but the absence of apple held this fritter back from being one of my favorites across LA. The cookie was overcooked and mostly tasteless, while the donut was essentially just a ring-shaped croissant; both components were inferior to something I could buy at Costco. I ordered letter donuts for my boyfriend's birthday and was pretty disappointed. First, the letters were sloppy and the icing looked ok. As soon as I brought them home, we were really excited to try them out. To both of our surprise, they had zero taste! They weren't sweet. at. all. There wasn't any glaze and it was only blue icing, which wasn't sweet. I even called the store and asked about them and the lady said that's how they're done because it's too expensive to add glaze... wouldn't you think that the donuts' taste is as important as their look? Date: June 15, 2025 It was Father's Day and we were in the area on the way to redondo beach and wanted a little snack. I originally wanted some sweet bread but there's nothing in the area so I suggested donuts. We passed by moon donuts on the way to the pier so we stopped by. They have two different kinds of donuts. A 'regular' fridge and a 'fancy' fridge. The regular ones are the plain sugar, glaze, chocolate and sprinkles like you normally see at a donut shop and the fancier ones have different flavors like ube, cream, sprinkles/toppings, and so much more. We got a half dozen (11.99$) and thought we could pick anything but it's only out of the regular fridge. So we got those. She gave us 3 donut holes for my kids which was super sweet. The fancier donuts are priced at 3.50$ each. Which isn't bad but for what we wanted, it was out of our price range. But I will definitely be back to try some of those! They also do custom donuts too! The donuts were SUPER fluffy and so soft and so delicious!!! The sugar one was just *chef's kiss*. And the glaze was amazing ! We devoured them so quickly I wish we got a dozen! Moon donuts is so great. The place is cute, not large. It is very clean and parking is easy and free. It is located in Redondo Beach which is a lovely area. We were going to have lunch after getting donuts to go, but their food looked so good we stayed there and ate inside--still taking our dozen home. The food is so much better than any donut shop I have been to. We decided to get several things and share. We had a bacon, omelet and cheese croissant and the croissant was perfect. It was light and fluffy and freshly made. The egg omelet and bacon were perfect. We loved their egg, hash browns and cheese burrito. It was so yummy. Their sausage, egg and cheese bagel was on a fresh egg bagel and was ever so good. We all had coffee which also was great. I never thought I would find such a great lunch at a donut shop. Their donuts are so good. They have a huge selection and if you order in advance you can have them make Happy Birthday donuts with the name spelled out on several donuts or whatever you want. It is such a great idea. I don't care for fritters, but my grandson does and he declared this the best fritter he ever had. Their glazed donuts are soft and fresh.
