Authentic Philly Cheesesteak mini with Fries
Brie G.

This place is super solid and consistent. It's not a place you need reservations for and I love that. They have awesome Philly cheesesteaks in three sizes, tasty fries, and high-quality salads. My favorite is the Society Hill with crispy chicken. Pictured is just the smaller version! It has a sports bar like atmosphere and the service is always warm and friendly.

Pictures don't lie their Philly sandwiches are amazing fries are delicious along with their chips. Get a side of horseradish sauce for everything Mmmmmmm!

Southside Johnny & Authentic Philly Cheesesteak

Monti's absolutely crushed it. We tried the South Side Johnny and the Authentic Philly Cheesesteak with aged cheddar cheese sauce, and both were unreal. The meat was perfectly chopped and juicy, the bread was spot on, and that cheddar sauce just took everything to another level. If you're looking for something that actually comes close to a real Philadelphia Philly cheesesteak, this is hands down the best spot in Chicago--and honestly, probably all of Illinois. Nothing else around here compares. This is the kind of place you keep coming back to. Highly recommend.

Authentic Philly Cheesesteak with Chips and a pickle

It didn't significantly stick out from other cheesesteak places. The dryness of the food made it clear that one was expected to drink, but I don't. The server was kind and attentive, the food was done quickly. The ambiance was relaxed. Came around 4pm on a Wednesday.

Hey everyone so we amé to eat here and let me start with the place is super clean and restrooms as well. Staff was friendly and very professional very helpful. So let's get into the food part it was good we had 3 different sandwiches so we had the rocky super good also had the original Philly with provolone it was also good it wasn't as cheesy as I would thought it would be though so final sandwich was the Philly pizza and that one was also good the sauce was really good to be honest surprised by it. The habanero sauce was also good and spicy just a bit. Ok price now I think it was a bit up there in price but everything is now super expensive now a days right so oh well. I do recommend this place for sure.

Cheesesteak Hoagie with extra mayo and grilled mushrooms

Amazing place to eat if you go to Chicago....I found this place on DoorDash but I knew I needed to visit in person when I saw the food. I'm glad I went inside. We met Joe he was a sweetheart. Beautiful personality. He made us some drinks at the bar they were good. The cheesesteaks were packed with meat and flavor. Fries were good with the cheese and bacon but I normally ask for shredded cheese. We got an order of the garlic Parmesan wings. I like dry Garlic Parmesan these were wet. Not a problem because the place was very clean. The service was awesome. Parking can be troublesome but we found a spot. This place makes for a wonderful hidden gem. Thank you Joe and cooks for taking care of us. That sandwich was so big I had to take it to go to finish it.

Had a craving for a cheesesteak and Monti's was recommended to me. I thought my GPS was crazy because I couldn't find it. It's on a side street. Parking was easy enough. I walked in and it's a nice neighborhood spot with a full bar. I was greeted by a nice guy that was working the bar. All the tvs had sports playing, if you're into sports you should check it out. He handed me a menu and I ordered a 12 inch cheesesteak hoagie with white American cheese and onion rings. The hoagie also included lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions and mayo. Since I had a 10 minute wait, I ordered a beer. Can't remember what kind but it was good. I went home and tore into that cheesesteak it was really good. The beef was plentiful which it had more onion. ( I'm an onion freak.) The onion rings were good but the dipping sauce helps elevate the rings. The 12 inch was big enough that I was able to cut it in half and have a good midnight snack.

Ask the Community - Monti's

Do you have the Eagles games on? Do we need to come early to get a seat?

Always have the eagles on. We have NFL Sunday ticket. Usually can get a seat but it does fill up occasionally.

Does this place do carryout?

Yessir. I get carry out all of the time.

Can I bring kids/kid friendly?

For sure. I brought my 2 9-year olds. No place better in Chicago to educate the little ones on how to make a proper cheese steak!

At noon, they unlocked the door, no hello or greeting - just straight behind the counter and to the kitchen for us to order at the screen in the front. The screen was filthy (they just opened as a reminder) we couldn't tell what was in the 'combo' and then when we were going to order the boneless chicken wings, as they were gluten free when we ordered them years ago, I asked one of the women in the kitchen to confirm. She said no, I don't think so. And walked away without any further guidance for what I might be able to eat on their menu. It's not a preference, it's a dietary restriction - so we walked out from there. They clearly had no interest in helping me or our business. A real disappointment after driving 30 minutes out of our way to try and enjoy it.

I'm not halal myself, but I appreciate supporting diverse dining options. Ordering online was easy though pricy--my four buffalo wings with ranch were ready in 15 minutes and were just over $12 (before tip). Pickup was simple, the staff were friendly, and I even got a bonus fifth wing. There were a few tables inside, but I chose takeout. The wings were jumbo and meaty, but the heavy breading and sauciness made them soggy rather than crispy--just not my preference. If you like thick, saucy breading, you might enjoy them. The first time I placed a takeout order, I unfortunately got sick afterward. The owner reached out and genuinely wanted to make things right, which I appreciated. That's why I decided to give them another chance on my own time and dime and order the same exact meal--I believe a business should be judged by how it handles situations, not just by one-off issues, which can happen anywhere. This time, I didn't get sick! While the wings weren't my style, Cluck'n Wings has friendly service, easy ordering, and fills a niche. If you're looking for halal wings with a saucier, breaded style, it's worth a try.

It was three of us meeting for dinner and some drinks. My friend had white wine, hubby had an Espressotini, and I the watermelon-cucumber marg. Then as an entree, my friend had the Jalisco Burger, hubby had the Salmon, and I a Salmon Caesar Salad. I personally loved the salad and the appetizers were great. Everyone else ate ALL their food, so I assume they also enjoyed it. The location was actually having an 80s night and there was a Dj and space for dancing. There were some people there dress for the themed night and it was just a great vibe. Talking with our friend and eating made us lose track of time and then it was time to leave but before we did, we met one of the owners who actually recommended I come by and visit. (Shoutout to Marcos ) He is the most warm and sunny person, and he was so grateful we actually came by. We had a shot and honestly I'd come back because of him. He told us a little bit about him, his family and about the restaurant backstory. I truly recommend you coming here, you will have a great time. Loved how cute it was inside and that they had music but it wasn't loud. FYI the style here is self service; you'll order at the counter and take a number back to your table to wait for your food. They have a paper menu but note that there are some pizzas listed up at the counter that look to be seasonal/rotating. If you're ordering for pickup or ordering ahead, maybe consider calling ahead to make sure you know all of the options. LOVE how they have both single slice or whole pie options. We got truffle fries, the mushroom pizza, and the bbq chicken pizza. FYI the pizzas took ~30 minutes to come out while people ordering by the slice obviously got their food a lot sooner. Next time we'll probably come and just order by the slice. The pizza was DELICIOUS!! It came out hot and with a very CRISPY bottom! The mushroom was my favorite but honestly really liked both. Jimmy's was both generous with toppings while not over saucing the BBQ chicken (which made it both easier to eat and kept it from getting soggy). So glad we decided to try out a new place!!
