I catered 50 pieces dark meat and 30 biscuits and they were hit and still as delicious as I've ever had them, crispy, flavorful... all for $113. This "star" review is purely based upon the chicken quality. It was some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. It had a nice crispy crust but it wasn't too thick. The spice was complex and interesting with a little bit of heat but not too much. The size of the pieces was very good. I've always been a Popeye's fan but this chicken may just be better! Don't make the same mistake I did and avoid Krispy Krunchy because it's attached to a gas station. It is extremely underrated, a good value, and consistently delivers for us. We usually get the tenders and I will say while it lacks some of the robust seasoning that other chain chicken restaurants might have, the chicken you get is thick and usually very tasty. We always order right when we get there which is helpful because usually they're dropping fresh stuff for us. Their biscuits are also honey biscuits and cannot be passed up! We checked out the website to know what to order. We found out that one item was out that we wanted and one wasn't even on the menu. The chicken was I thought, better than Popeye's. I didn't like the biscuit so much. The mashed potatoes had so much gravy it was like soup. I tried to order beans and rice, but on Grubhub I couldn't do that. When I added a second side the first one went away. In the special instructions I said to add beans and rice, that didn't happen. I don't know what happened to this place. We've ordered before with no problems but this time was a fiasco. Their online ordering wasn't working so we phoned it in and were told 20 minutes. We showed up a little late and he said it would be 10 more minutes. Then I went back to the window and they hadn't even started part of our order. When they finally packed our order almost an hour after we first called, the price for the chicken was almost double what was listed on their website. I would've given this a little bit lower from my last couple of experiences there but I've had such a good history previously that I'm going to give it three stars. I've been going to this location of this franchise for years and we've always been very satisfied. However the last couple of times we've been there this place is really sliding downhill. Besides the fact that it's consistently dirty, the soda machine advertises "no ice, no cups, just soda", but the food itself is now suffering. I went to ask for a mixed box of all the pieces and the guy told me "no white meat". He didn't really bother to explain why I was confused so he ended up explaining the fact that they no longer carry white meat only dark meat. But they do have chicken tenders which are made of white meat which makes it even more confusing. He didn't say the route, he said that they just don't carry white meat anymore. so I got an order of chicken tenders and he said he would substitute out the lack of white meat with dark meat. That said, I was not made aware that he wasn't going to give me any wings. So I came home with legs and thighs which I don't like either. And make it worse, he charged me for a regular chicken with white meat instead of charging me the discounted dark meat combo, and he did it on purpose. So on top of all that I had to buy an extra chicken tenders just to get some white meat so my bill was probably double what it should've been. It really does break my heart because this was at one point the best fast fried chicken in the area even if it's in the gas station, but we won't be going back. Updating my review of the gas station delivery service. Placed my order through Yelp Eat24 because it was rush hour and I was not feeling the drive over to Peterson at 6 pm. Got an immediate response as to the time that it would be delivered. Order actually got there 20 mins before it was supposed to. What made this delivery so extra special for me was my delivery guy Ahm sent me the nicest text message to let me know he was on his way and a follow up one to let me know he was 3 minutes out. I'm currently a resident of Columbia, SC so i was surprised to see Krispy Krunchy in Chicago and have been wanting to try it passing the many gas stations down south but low and behold there it is, here in Chicago. So I ordered a good bit of food. 4 pc Chicken tender with mashed potatoes and gravy and red beans and rice. The chicken was great. Krunchy as promised, well seasoned and moist on the inside. The mashed potatoes and gravy tasted like KFC's which I didn't mind and the red beans and rice tasted ok. Only reason I say that is because the ration of rice to bean was like 5:1 totally off, barely could get a taste like I would've liked. And finally, their honey biscuits were soft, moist, and sweet. It seems as if though KKC is a mashup of all the various chicken chain restaurants. From Church's to Popeyes to KFC to Zaxby's/Raising Canes. They did have a sauce that tasted like Zax sauce. 03/31/17 - There are 2 Krispy Krunchy chicken places that I know of. One is @ 5800 W Irving Park in Bub's and the second one (the one I ate at today is @ 1840 W Peterson inside the Citco Gas station. Then one I ate at today fries their chicken in advance and keeps it warm under heat lamps. The prices are incredibly reasonable $4.99 for 3 pieces of white chicken, 2 wings & a breast. The skin is still flavorful and crispy, but the chicken is a little dry, especially the breast. The other Krispy Krunchy chicken @ 5800 W Irving Park Avenue makes their chicken to order so you are getting something that is piping hot and juicy. I since moved but kept coming here for 4 years and never had any issues with my order until today when I ordered 4 tenders and instead got 1 drumsticks, 1 breading 1/2 tender and 1 full size tender. My husband went to pick it up at the designated time and the employee there said they never got the order and refused to even speak to my husband about it. Many people on trips or a time crunch will want to fill up their tank and grab some food. It's not a sit down restaurant so why rent out a stand alone dwelling? If there's empty or under utilized space be economical and environmental and use it for something. Everything is served fresh, so there's a 15-20 minute wait. We had my dog with me and pooched around until the order was ready. We ordered the family combo which had fried chicken, Cajun chicken tenders, fries, and honey butter biscuits. The tenders and chicken lived up to the business name. The coating was crunchy, crispy, but not dry. Flavorful and zesty but not over seasoned or too salty. The meat itself was fine. Texture had give and tenderness. The biscuits were just the right side of buttery. If you like chicken that will get you dancing give this quaint spot a shot. read more

They will now assume the responsibility of supplying my very occasional after-work fried chicken indulgence, since Harold's in Rogers Park has closed. The chicken is under-seasoned, but otherwise pretty good. They offer fast, friendly service too. At Harold's you would have to wait fifteen to twenty minutes and put up with indifference bordering on rudeness from the staff. Krispy Krunchy Chicken is inside of a Citgo Gas Station. It does not have parking unless you count the space along the fence leading up to their car wash. I found street parking two blocks away in the residential neighborhood surrounding it on three sides. The fourth side (and front of the gas station) faces a cemetery. The interior of the Citgo is divided into two sections. Most of it is a typical gas station convenience store. The rest of it is Krispy Krunchy Chicken. The KKC part is decorated with loud wallpaper and a flat screen television, all blasting you with their own advertisements. There are two small tables each with a pair of chairs. Although the counter is crowded with a warming display case with radiant fried foods, the cashier informed us that our orders would be made fresh and would take 20 minutes. I got the 8 piece chicken (dark), three biscuits, and two stuffed peppers (jalapeno poppers) for $10.77. We stood outside for about half of our wait during which time I think the gas fumes got to me. I felt nauseous and nearly lost my appetite. Daniel C was much more acuminous and found a nearby park for us to sit and eat, free of gas station ambiance. We both enjoyed our food. True to it's name, the chicken was crunchy! In fact, I think that everything we ordered was crunchy including (and most surprisingly) the biscuits. The biscuits were exceptional. The outside had a delicious crust and the inside was nice and soft and exploded with piquant honey butter. Besides that, the rest of the food was ordinary. Very disappointed to be writing this. This is our third and final strike for this restaurant. It's been months since the last time we ordered and we were hesitant to try again. This time we ordered through GrubHub and waited 90 minutes before calling the restaurant. Sadly, same thing happened as two previous orders - no answer. We called GrubHub and asked them to try to reach the restaurant and find out our order status.
