Best Philly cheesesteaks I've had in Chicago thus far! Quick service and they even have games for family night!

I've been trying to lay off red meat (thank you Netflix documentaries), but before the holidays approach I wanted 1 cheat meal. I chose the original cheesesteak with onions and white American. OMG. This was the best cheat meal! I've never had a better cheesesteak. Some can be too salty, not this one. Monti's also uses the authentic Philly hoagie bun I'll definitely be back to try other kinds! Food Was Great, Service Was Terrible I mostly write this review to bring attention to the attitude of the server we had. He didn't seem to be having a very good day and was taking this out on everyone in the restaurant. No smiles, no "thank you's" or "have a good day". We were overcharged and upon asking for our money back for the soda we were charged for but didn't have, he made a snide comment about the tip we left him (which was on the overcharged taxed amount). We all have bad days which is fine, but that shouldn't be taken out on the customers. The food however, was really great and for that we would go back. But not for the treatment we, as well as the others in the restaurant received. read more

Surprisingly - the pickup from our takeout order. This is where it went BAD, the man at the bar during Fri 6/24 lunch shift compelled me to find peer review site and enter 1 star YELP rating the lowest possible. Moving forward, we are going to be taking a break from Monti's. Regrettably, this is a regular rotation spot for us where we like to get takeout here. Ultimately for a takeout order with the minimum interaction for customer service: find name / order ID, locate the food, and pass it. I can say the Man at Bar today at a minimum had failed at ALL THREE of those actions, even after he was shown from my phone my name, order ID, and chownow platform. Just drafting this out is not even a cathartic experience, it just makes me feel worse. Order was sitting there the whole time and the Man at Bar just seemed overmatched. The breaking point for me was during our discussion when I asked "Do you really want to continue this discussion and share your name" that he showed he was inept in fostering further argument. Honestly, the best philly cheese steak in Chicago! This place is definitely one of my go to spots.

Great food. But for delivery they have a hard time sending some ketchup packets! And on all the websites, no where can you add it on. Even if your willing to pay. Step up customer service! What does a couple of ketchup packets cost you? read more

Order original cheesesteaks and they were very greasy, soggy, meat was fatty. Wish I saved a photo. Very disappointing.

I used to really love this place. It reminded me of Delassandro's or Jim's in Philly. I left Chicago in 2020 and just came back in June. I ate at Delassandro's right before I moved back. I was really excited to go to Monti's and get a classic steak. I get mine with mushrooms and white American. The last two steaks I got, the cheese was lacking. Almost like there wasn't any. Steaks are meant to be cheesy and greasy delights. These were dry and moderately tasteless. Super disappointing. I mean really dry. The last steak I got was with Provolone. Same problem. This time I really looked closely. The steak was piled onto the cheese that was clearly put in the bun and not melted on the stove. I have since enjoyed (but not as much as my past visits to Monti's) Philly's Best. I hope the next time I visit Monti's, things will be different. I'll ask my server to make sure the kitchen does it correctly. read more

I will forever be a fan of Monti's. This is a decent sandwich and I haven't had anything better in this area. I like my sandwich with cheese whiz and have even tried the provolone but always go back to the delicious melty cheese. As of lately I've only done pick up for lunch but will go back after work hours to enjoy the restaurant. They are very quick with my order even if I order at the restaurant and not on chownow or grubhub. read more

Oh man, I tried Monti's for the first time yesterday and I'm definitely going to be eating here again very soon. It is so good! I had the cheesesteak hoagie with white American cheese and the aged cheddar sauce on the side for my fries. I need to eat this again ASAP, it was so flavorful and delicious, I liked how the meat was sort of chopped up. The fries were also tasty and reheated up nicely in the air fryer. The bf got the roast pork loin grinder, which he said was great as well. read more

George C. raved and raved about this spot. And who doesn't love a good philly steak? So I was psyched to see them delivering as we #StayTheFHome. So now, this could've been the delivery service and not Monti's? But, well, our order was all sorts of wrong. They left out George's entire order. I did get the three sandwich sampler, though. And our fries that were supposed to be topped with tons of things were completely plain. It was a pretty dismal ordering / delivery experience. That said, though, the sampler sandwiches were super tasty! I couldn't even decide on which one I liked the best. So the flavor was there, for sure. Too bad our order was fumbled - and we paid so much more than what we should have for what we got (Postmates did give me their standard credit for an order gone wrong). All in all, I don't think I'll risk ordering from here again (though, it does sound like they've worked out some of the delivery service app kinks). But if we ever get to a point where I can safely dine-in, I'll for sure do that. read more

Back open and just as awesome as before. They now have 4 beers on tap instead of one. We both had the Half Acre double IPA called Hallow. 16ounces for $6.75, is very reasonable. I had the Rocky cheesesteak. It's nicely spicy. My wife had her usual Cheesesteak Hoagie. We went with the 12 inch ones so we could have leftovers tomorrow but I ended up eating the whole thing! We split a small fries for $2.50. Street parking isn't bad, there's always something within a block. read more

I haven't eaten beef or pork in quite some time, but of course - smelling it and seeing it will still make my mouth water sometimes. I was able to try their Where's The Beef Philly steak and it was SO GOOD!!!!! The flavors and seasonings were spot on enough to almost make me forget I wasn't eating a real Philly cheesesteak. If you are looking to scratch that beef itch, I highly recommend giving them a shot! read more

There's free parking across the street. We were greeted and told to sit anywhere we wanted. It wasn't busy at all; only a few people seated at the bar. The vibes were chill and since it wasn't too loud it made a nice place to have casual conversation. We discovered they have board games free to play! Uno, Scrabble, Settlers of Catan, and others. The waiter was friendly. I ordered the Side Car cocktail (brandy, triple sec, lemon juice) to start off which was a pleasant drink. The fries that came with the sandwiches were good and not soggy/not too salty. I ordered the South Side Johnny Cheesesteak which has grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, and horseradish sauce. I've been going here for a long time and I have to say this place has the best cheesesteak in Chicago and the best wings! The wings are very lightly bread which normally I wouldn't seek out but I'm going out on a limb to say best wings I've ever had. The light breading absorbs the sauce and the buffalo sauce is not overly saucy. I love this place and if I was in the neighborhood I'd go here all the time! 6 out of 5 stars!! read more

The service was good. Waitress was very friendly. Cheesesteak was about as far from an authentic cheesesteak as a cheeseburger is to a strawberry. When I got the first one, the cheese was cold. Yes it was cold. That let me know immediately that there was probably gonna be a problem. When my server was notified of this, she took it and brought me a fresh one. The cheese was melted on this however, this was not an authentic Philly cheesesteak. Truly disappointing. So if Mr. Monty wants to say he's using the same recipe well, he's very lucky anybody Can appreciate it. I honestly feel you could go get the steak and cheese at Subway and it is elkistvas good. I was incredibly unimpressed and I hope they spend five minutes to look how to make a real cheesesteak because they almost have it, I must say that they just don't know what they're doing. Monti's is my go to for Philly cheese steak. Every time I go I get the foot long cheese steak hoagie with provolone. It is loaded with meat and their fries are good too. My partner loves their Buffalo wings. The pizza on the other hand was not great. We only tried it once. I recommend eating in house so that it is not soggy for take out. On Super Bowl Sunday - Philadelphia Eagles playing - I ordered 6 cheesesteaks 2 days before the game. I came to pick them up and... they weren't even in the queue. In fact, there were 2 dozen people outside waiting for their orders as well - and no communication as to when their orders would be ready, just a vague "1-2 hours". Game time was 15 minutes away AFTER we had already waited 30 minutes, and AFTER having ordered 2 days in advance for pickup 1 hour before the game. There's something about Monti's that seems more refined than Philly's Best, maybe it's the table service.. or maybe it's the neat food preparation. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. The Roast Pork with broccoli rabe is better than their cheesesteak, but both are good. The water ice is authentic and the service is exceptional for a sandwich shop. read more

Best Philly cheesesteak I've had in Chicago. I'd swing by if I was coming from the suburbs just to satisfy that craving. I do find myself comparing this place to other places just to see how it measures up. If you're not sure which one to get you can do up to 2 different kinds for each half of your sandwich. I'll choose this place over Philly's Best any day of the week, which is too salty for me. The fact that they have their bread shipped from Philly makes it that much more enjoyable. There's an obvious noticeable difference within that initial bite that their bread is different than any other place in the Chicagoland area that serves Philly cheesesteaks. It's also nice that it's located in this humble neighborhood bar. If it's available I'd probably just get their bread too just to make my own sandwiches at home. If you're up for the challenge go for the bigger size. And if you end up not finishing it, no worries. You can always enjoy it later. read more
