I went to my dental cleaning on Jan 31st, 2022, to Monterey Dental Centre, I been having tooth sensitivity. I was told by Dr. Jones that I will need a crown soon. I decided to start the process as it is urgent. I was told to pay in advance for the dental process in two payment stages verbally. I did agree at first. And booked the appointment for Fed 3rd for the first process of the dental crown. On Feb 2nd I called and spoke to Sherry regarding the appoint to clarify to understand the process regarding the dental insurance. It didn't make sense that they wanted me to pay for the process in advance. Apparently, the pre-determination wasn't even submitted I asked Sherry to submit the pre-determination I was frustrated because I was never given the option to go through my dental insurance for the procedure. I asked Sherry to get back to me as ASAP once they receive the pre-determination. On Feb 8th I called Manulife my benefit provider to see if Monterey Dental has sent a pre-Determination and apparently, they haven't. I called the office and spoke with the Dalyce at the dental office, and she told me that the pre-determination was sent by mail with the X-rays Jan 31st, Which is a different date I was told. By this point I'm really upset and very frustrated, because this crown is urgent. I have wasted my time and effort to get this work done. Not professional Dalyce had nothing to say and only sorry to hear that. So, Unprofessional and bad work ethics. It's obviously a reflection of how they get treated and how they treat their patients. Its about the money and not in the best interest of the patients. I don't recommend this dental office for major work. read more

I started out going to Monterey Dental after moving to the city. Like most people, I have anxiety related to dental offices. The office was warm and welcoming, and the doctor I saw initially was pleasant. The staff weren't rude or unfriendly, but I feel like there was not very good customer service. I had an appointment to have two wisdom teeth removed, and two cavities filled. My mouth was frozen at the same time, the cavities were filled first, and then the wisdom teeth were started. By the time the doctor reached the last tooth, the freezing was wearing off and I was in so much pain, crying so hard I could hardly breathe. I asked and asked for him to stop, and he finally, abruptly put his instruments down and said to his assistant 'I can't work with that'. Wow, what a way to make an already anxious person feel *so* comfortable! (NOT!) The appointment was finished, and besides a follow up (with a different doctor), I have never and will never return to that office. read more

The girls are great, always take care of me so good . Dr young is quick and supper nice . Always feel so comfortable at this office .

I can't say enough about Dr. Michelle Carlson and Dr. Wayne Young. Dr. Carlson is great with my kids, and Dr. Young is a phenomenal dentist. The staff at the clinic was friendly, helpful and efficient. Although going to the dentist is never fun, we will no doubt be returning for our future dental care. They are simply the best. read more

I had a Root Canal performed here a couple of months ago, since I was new to this dentist they requested that I be there early to fill out the paper work. As requested I arrived 30 mins early and filled out the paper work, I then waited an hour and a half before I saw the dentist. I would have walked out but I just wanted to get this procedure finally finished. I had started the emergency Root Canal in Mexico and the Dentist I saw in Mexico tried to call the dentist at Monterey Dental to explain my case and provide them with my file. When I finally got to see the dentist I was surprised that he knew nothing of the case history. When I asked about that, the response was that he would not accept calls. I found the entire experience to unprofessional and the staff to be arrogant. I would have posted this review sooner but I tried to forget the whole experience, I am reminded today because I am seeing another dentist to do further work on the Root Canal. read more

after checking this place out due to my normal dentist hours not working for my schedule, I ended up with nothing but problem after problem, and pain after seeing Dr. Jones. Finally got in to see Dr. Young and nothing really fixed and ended up having to get another root canal from my old dentist and subsequent dental specialist to try and fix and I'm still having issues due to Monteray. Of course, no reimbursement of any kind, they just wanted me to come back to see them. My daughter went to Monteray too and has had nothing but issues, and has gone back to our old dentist and my sister in law went to Monteray and ended up with problems as well! Highly recommend not going here!! read more

support staff is horrible. Would it kill a receptionist to crack a smile or to talk to patients politely? Apparently yes at this clinic. We have stopped going here. Please take note! Your staff are the ones that leave an impression on the clients. And the staff here leaves you with a very bad taste in your mouth. read more

I normally will only take the time to provide positive reviews or reviews of recognition but my experience at MDC is so disheartening I can't help but provide a warning. MDC recommended I get multiple filling replacements at one time in order to "ease the discomfort" of multiple freezings... made sense. What they didn't do was their due diligence to ensure my insurance would cover the astronomical cost. Nor did they suggest I should. As a result of their lack of professionalism or consideration I was $989 out of pocket, unexpected and unbelievable. Even when I was in the dental chair getting the freezing the admin assistant advise that it "looks like she'll be paying around $200." But no predetermination was actually completed. An hour later I was out $989 with no accountability and no apology. I was simply a $ with teeth. The truly unbelievable part... had we waited 32 days, my insurance would have covered 90% of the total cost. After providing feedback, the office manager called me to try and "figure out what happened" but in the end I was told they did as much due diligence as they could and "obviously there isn't anything I can say you'll be ok with." She said nothing, no understanding, no accountability, no apology. I expect the professionals, the experts to provide me the advice to make the best decisions for me... I rely on their experience and expertise. MDC does not care about their clients... they care about the $$ regardless of where it comes from or the impact on their patients. This was also not an isolated incident with MDC, but it was the last straw. read more

Front ladies at this office make people want to run away ...worst experience ever they talk to you down and they are not nice at all ...this doctors should read reviews and see what people are saying and get rid of them and replace them with people that are nice and welcoming not many people like going to the dentist so the first expression do matter ...besides the ladies upfront everyone else in the back was very good...no I would not be back and no I wouldn't recommend this clinic read more

Me and my family (5 people) is with Monterey Dental Center for more than 10 years. We all love their services but since last 2 years, I found their office staff very racial discriminated. I'm brown, a well educated and well employed Canadian Citizen but treated differently being brown. I saw their staff yelling at native people and threating to call police against them . Your dental administrator is the one who supports other staff for this discrimination. I apologize, if say or write anything wrong in this message but feeling very painful separating from you after more than 10 years relationship. Besides the ladies in front office everyone else in the back was very good...for sure I would not be back and no I wouldn't recommend this clinic at all. The management should get rid of this racist staff asap. read more

I switched from my old dentist to here after hearing good things from my friend. My first service was for cavity fillings and was performed by Dr. Carlson. Everything went well and she was very kind to allow me to take short breaks when my jaw hurt. My next visit was with Dr. Young to extract 4 wisdom teeth. He was very professional and it showed when I saw how quick he got the job done. I have been going here regularly for cleanings and enjoy the service from all the employees. read more
