A few years ago I booked in to see Dr. spencer to bond a front veneer that had chipped. It was…read morerandom that I came upon Deer Valley. Dr. spencer was great, did a fantastic job on my chipped veneer and it ultimately lasted for years. My house happens to be downtown so my regular dentist (as of a year ago) is also downtown for convenience. Last week my veneer chipped again. Rather than call my family dentist I called Dr. spencer because a) I really liked him and b) he did a fantastic job. Last week was not at all the same. When I called to book a repair, the receptionist said the Dr. Spencer had an opening the following week on Tuesdat at 2pm. I showed up at 2 only to be told she hopes she could get me in as Dr. Spencer only had 20 minutes to do my repair. I mentioned that I drove all the way from NW Calgary for this appointment and had a function on Thursday so I certainly hope he can fit me in (a prebooked appointment) as I had not inquired elsewhere for the repair. At 2 I was brought in by his assistant. She prepped me for Dr. Spencer. When Dr. Spencer came in he was visibly rushed and appeared to be quite agitated and I almost felt like I was an inconvenience. As he rushed through the bonding, he repeatedly told me that he can't guarantee how long it would last. His requests for me to turn my head, look down, look up were sharp and once again I felt like an inconvience. Apparently he had just gotten back from vacation and was very booked up. I sat there salivating trying to swallow without suction offered, the spray to rinse my mouth continually spray my whole face. Very rushed and no care. When he was done, my teeth were rough with chunks of bonding behind my teeth. I asked if he could buff them or something as they felt like sand paper. He did, once again just trying to rush me through. I did make a comment on how busy and rushed they seemed. The final spray to rinse literally went all over my face, the assistance I had wipe my whole face. Really? Slow down.When he was done he made mention that he had taken off some of my veneer (which was take off the length which I now notice). He left and I told the assistance that I could actually feel a chunk behind my tooth. She felt it and agreed. She told me that it better for strength. When I got home I has wished that I had given my regular dentist a chance as now I had paid $250 for a 20 minute bond repair that a week later is starting to chip again. I would ask when you book an appointment if you are being squeezed in. Had I known it was a 20 minute rush job for a quick $250.00 I would not have booked there. Very disappointing as I had a choice to go to my own dentist. My advice to Deer Valley is slow down. I recognize demand is high but consumers have a choice a so where to spend their hard earned money. Maybe to a dentist $250.00 is a nice dinner out but to many it is part of a tight budget. Out of about 10 responses over half were for Love Dental so I went with the odds. This place is amazing! I saw Dr. Spooner for a small filling and she was so kind and reassuring and unlike most dentists let me know what she was doing and what I feel the entire time. It was such a pleasant experience, which I never in million years thought I would say about any dentist, that I would recommend them to anyone! I was pleasantly surprised when the staff got me in so quickly. I walked in the doors and were greeted with a warm welcome. My first thought was is this dental clinic? It was so nice to see how close the love dental staff were. It was like family. The girls were very understanding and wanted me to fill out paper work. I disclosed I had no insurance and they walked me through options that best suited my needs. I felt a huge sigh of relief. My dentist was wonderful. I really felt the love. Thanks Love dental. I went to my dental cleaning on Jan 31st, 2022, to Monterey Dental Centre, I been having tooth…read moresensitivity. I was told by Dr. Jones that I will need a crown soon. I decided to start the process as it is urgent. I was told to pay in advance for the dental process in two payment stages verbally. I did agree at first. And booked the appointment for Fed 3rd for the first process of the dental crown. On Feb 2nd I called and spoke to Sherry regarding the appoint to clarify to understand the process regarding the dental insurance. It didn't make sense that they wanted me to pay for the process in advance. Apparently, the pre-determination wasn't even submitted I asked Sherry to submit the pre-determination I was frustrated because I was never given the option to go through my dental insurance for the procedure. I asked Sherry to get back to me as ASAP once they receive the pre-determination. On Feb 8th I called Manulife my benefit provider to see if Monterey Dental has sent a pre-Determination and apparently, they haven't. I called the office and spoke with the Dalyce at the dental office, and she told me that the pre-determination was sent by mail with the X-rays Jan 31st, Which is a different date I was told. By this point I'm really upset and very frustrated, because this crown is urgent. I have wasted my time and effort to get this work done. Not professional Dalyce had nothing to say and only sorry to hear that. So, Unprofessional and bad work ethics. It's obviously a reflection of how they get treated and how they treat their patients. Its about the money and not in the best interest of the patients. I don't recommend this dental office for major work.

I went in for a cleaning and a check up and the cleaning was not done well compared to other cleanings I've had. It felt like the bare minimum was done. Usually, the hygienist goes in with the pick to clear out all the stuff that get stuck at the top of the tooth, but they didn't. I was also given all the expensive frills without asking me ($30 fluoride rinse, unnecessary $150 X-Rays), which I later found out how expensive they were once the bill came due. Typical of all dentists offices, they'll ask if you're covered, and if you are they'll just give you everything so the bill is over $500 in order to make your visit as profitable for them as possible. I don't mind if procedures are explained to me (what the cost is, why I need it, etc.) so I can make an informed decision, but I don't appreciate my money being spent without asking or explanation because I'm covered. Never going back.
