I have probably been a client at Northern Hills Dental for the past 7 years. I really have not a bad thing to say about them and their service during most of the 7 years, except one time when one of the hygienists was quite 'rough' in the cleaning process that resulted in some pain during and after the appointment. Recently, however, I have noticed that they have been quite tardy in their appointment schedules. For the second time in recent memory, I have waited in excess of 35 minutes for my appointment (the first occurrence was much longer than 35 minutes), not including the time I waited before my scheduled appointment time (I always try to arrive early for my appointments). This defeated the purpose of me getting off work a half hour early so that I can get all dental work done before my following dinner commitment. I am not sure how often this happens at Northern Hills Dental but it has happened to me twice. If I were repeatedly late 30 minutes for my appointments, I am sure they would have told me to reschedule. I understand that there are sometimes circumstances that could have extended the appointment before me but that could have been avoided by properly estimating the amount of time it takes for each appointment. For example, extra time should be set aside for children dental appointment. I know that is the case with my toddler... it always takes longer than scheduled. I understand that the delay for them to see me was because they were in the middle of a procedure for a child that took longer than they had allowed for. However, this is the type of repeated experience that causes client to go elsewhere regardless of the reason. read more

The ladies here are amazing. I was greeted upon entry and my appointment was on time. My new dentist in a real doll and gave me the hard news nobody without insurance wants to hear. She insisted to fix the most urgent things and go from there. This place is clean and welcoming. TV while you get your face drilled. Right up my alley. read more

Edit: Further to all of the below, thought I would add an update based on even more recent experience. My wife had an appointment scheduled for this week. She called to reschedule and it turns out the office is closed for renovations. They didn't bother to call or otherwise advise that her appointment would need to be rescheduled. I don't have much to say about the service of the dentists and hygentists themselves. It's nothing special and I've probably had worse. What prompted me to write this review is my family's latest experience there and the concerns others have raised with the dentist office keeping appointment times. One of the reasons we went to this office in the first place was the availability of evening and weekend appointments. That was somewhat illusory, however, as appointments in those prime slots need to be booked months and months in advance. Once you're done your treatment, better get out your calendar if you hope to get your desired appointment time for next year's cleaning. I've booked appointments for first thing in the morning as soon as they open and they have started late. We've had appointments at various times during the day that have been delayed, sometimes by 30 minutes or more. I've actually had the hygentist tell me while I was in the chair that they didn't have enough time to do my cleaning and my checkup because they were running behind so I would have to rebook. Their website suggested that they value your time, but that does not appear to be the case in practice. I understand that unforeseen circumstances happen. Someone comes in with a dental emergency, for example. But when these kinds of delays happen consistently, it suggests there are other problems at play. Another issue we've encountered has happened a few times now where we book an appointment with one dentist and the office substitutes a different dentist. If you're unable to ensure that the dentist you book is the dentist that is actually going to provide treatment, then you probably shouldn't be offering that option. Again, I understand that things come up that you can't anticipate, but the office could certainly handle these matters better. In short, there are a lot of dentist offices in the city. Some are going to be better than others. If you've had a good experience here, great. We haven't been satisfied and there are plenty of other options out there. read more

If you are looking for a new dentist DO NOT go here. The reception staff is very rude to patients and do not have a clue about what is going on. You ask them what they are billing for and they reply "they do not know, but you should pay anyway" Had some work done there and my Jaw hurt for days. read more
