Crème brûlée
Daphney C.

Presentation, service and flavors!! this place is truly a local hidden gem. You can find a little bit of everything on this menu that will appease even the pickiest of eaters. We came here to celebrate my mom's birthday since my mother is a big seafood lover and I on the other hand, a big pasta lover! I loved that you could find Italian, Spanish and Cuban food all on menu, definitely a spot you can bring people from out of town that want to try a bit of local cuisine. What we ordered: Arugula prosciutto salad: had a lemon dressing that was perfectly balanced with the salty prosciutto. Shrimp stuffed Tostones: came cooked in a red sauce gave notes of creole seasoning, very delicious! Seafood Paella: came with large meaty shrimp, calamari and clams. Tasted very fresh and totally worth it. Fettuccine mushroom and truffle pasta: was deliciously creamy and cheesy, came with lots of mushroom! Lasagna: cheesy, ooey gooey goodness! The lasagna was cooked to a perfect temperature. The cheese pull was real! Crème brûlée: so good! Not too sweet and had the perfect torched crust. I can confidently say that I found a new favorite spot and that I will be coming here again.

Montecatini has definitely become one of my go to spots. Food is delicious, they have a pretty extensive menu combining Italian and Cuban food which is amazing. Service is great, staff is friendly and helpful, and I would describe the ambience as very calm, specially if you choose to sit outside in the terrace area, is so much more quieter and relaxing than inside. Will be coming back for sure :)

Beautifully decorated restaurant with an inviting ambiance. Coming in on a Thursday night, we were seated right away and given bread. The menu is huge and only written in Spanish. The online menu is in English. My son ordered a cheese pizza and I ordered the chicken in garlic sauce. We ordered a tres leches for dessert. The food was great and we will definitely come back to try other foods on the menu. The tres leches was not as good in our opinion. It looked amazing but the burnt merengue had a granular texture that we did not enjoy. Overall, a great place to eat in a relaxing and beautiful setting.

I went to dinner with my mom and nephew. This was the second visit as I remembered how good my meal was the first time (about a year ago). This time it was not as good, which was very disappointing. I had the pasta carbonara, my nephew chicken Alfredo and my mom paella. Mom loved her Paella but the pastas were not that good. The sauce was very watery and it just lacked flavor. Not sure what happened that day, but it was not even closed to my first visit. We had the ham croquetas to start and finished with the Tiramisu. Both things were great. I just wish that they were were more consistent with their meals.

We ordered the tostones rellenos with ropa vieja, the Bruchetta and the Arancini (fried risotto balls) All three were delicious.. The white sangria was also very tasty I was very happy with our waiter, Jose; very polite and the service was quick

We were seated right away which was unexpected for being a Saturday night. The server was very attentive and friendly. All of the food was served quick and very hot, which I like. We weren't offered shredded cheese for our meals, which usually gets offered at other places and red pepper flakes was not offered when asking for spice. The price for the bottle of wine charge is 3 times the amount of the actual price of the bottle. All of the food ordered tasted really good and the portions were generous. Nice lighting and a relaxing atmosphere. It would be nice if some jazz music was played. A little overpriced but enjoyable.

First time trying this place after word of mouth and I can't believe I haven't been here before! The service is outstanding, Orlando was so attentive and nice. Made sure to explain the menu and offer his recommendations. The food was phenomenal. I had the Crema Virginia soup and tostones rellenos for starter. Both super delicious. Then for entree I had the churrasco with Moro. And to finish on a sweet note. I had the arroz con leche. Honestly I would have everything on the menu here. The prices are super affordable. All in all a great place for any occasion.

Paella de Mariscos

The seafood paella looked amazing, but the seafood did not taste fresh. It was also runny. The dye of the food coloring stains your hands. The service was good. The restaurant was clean, although they have plates and glasses on the tables that they leave out. This means that it is collecting dust. I could see the dust in the water that they poured into those glasses. The portions are quite large. The value is priced too highly for the quality of food.

I can't believe how good this place was... why did i not found out about it sooner!? Service was excellent, the restaurant is clean and nicely decorated, a little fancy place in Kendall who would have thought...great menu and how do i explain that everything we ordered was delicious; croquetas, pizza, pasta, dessert, everything was great. Totally recommended.

The portion is HUGE, the prices are amazing, and the chicken is so tender and flavorful that even the breast is juicy... and we ALL know chicken breast loves to disappoint! I haven't even tried the sandwiches yet, but every time I look around, somebody has one, so clearly they know something I don't! The whole experience is what makes this place special though. Live music, great drinks that actually have FLAVOR, generous portions, and such a fun atmosphere. I love sitting outside in the back with the fans going and the band playing. For a minute, you really feel like you've been transported somewhere else and you forget you're sitting in the middle of Miami. The service is quick and gets the job done, but I HAVE to shout out the man running the front! Our server was friendly throughout the evening and the food was pretty quick to come out. I didn't know before coming here but Cafe La Trova was listed on the Top 50 Bars of North America for 2026 and so I had to get the Buenavista drink which is highlighted as their award winner. Admittedly, I was let down by the drink. The balance was a bit off and overall I wasn't very impressed. However the food more than made up for it. The ropa vieja was very savory and the avocado cream was very zesty/citrus which helped cut down some of the richness of the dish. My only note would be to give some more avocado cream since there were only 2 little dollops. The Arroz Con Pollo was excellent! Super flavorful and I could eat this everyday and be happy. The tomatoes and olives add that extra bit of acidity which was perfect. The live music also added to the ambiance and so if you're someone trying to get that local Miami/Cuban vibe, I think Cafe La Trova is it.

Don't get me wrong, food was delicious but was it breathtaking good? No. The reason I said that was when we walked in, one side was counter and the other was sit down. At the sit down it looked like a decent amount of locals while the sit down were just out of towners. The waitress was very kind and helped us get situated. My friends and I were recommended the Oxtail Stew, the fried pork chops, the medium cubano, sweet plantains, and the ham croquettes. The Oxtail was very flavorful, came with a side of rice and 3 pieces of plantains. The fried pork chops were a little too dry and had the texture of fried fish almost. I think it came with 4 or 5 pieces total for the order with a side of rice and beans. The cubano was rather large for the medium side which I appreciated. The plantains were probably my favorite dish out of all as they were really sweet, ripe and well made. The ham croquettes, this could be a me thing but i was expecting cheese and it was all ground ham. The fry on it was good though! Overall, great spot for a quick bite. Not too nosy, not too fancy. The only downside was that because it's in a popular area and there's a popular opinion of the restaurant, the food is a bit overpriced for what it is. Otherwise, I would say give it a try!

Unfortunately, our other server disappeared and never checked up on us. We pretty much didn't have any napkins during our entire duration of our meal. At least that part was good. We started off with a couple of mojitos and their Vaca Frita Tostones. You get these homemade maduro tostones topped off with shreeded beef in a moon sauce, pickled onion, and aji Amarillo aioli. A very delicious dish that didn't last long. Shortly after we received our main dish. I really hate when they do that. My wife ordered their Abuelas Ropa Vieja and I ordered their Masa de Puerco Chino. My wife didn't really care for her dish much. We've had plenty of Ropa Vieja before and would have preferred a congri type of rice as opppsed to just plain white rice. My dish was 10/10. Like in the name of "chino" this is an Asian inspired dish with fried rice, maduros, pineapple confit and crispy pork. A very delicious dish. It could have don't without the little salad on top, but at least it ads color to the dish. The crispy pork tasted so amazing and the fried had so much flavor. Mix in some of the maduros and you get a sweet and savory dish. Would definitely be returning to try this dish again.
