Good friendly service, casual atmosphere and surprisingly good ribs given the decline in many chain rib serving restaurants.

Through multiple vists, I've had the chance to try many of their menu items, including the fried chicken sandwich, duck poutine, fried chicken pieces, mac and cheese, and eggplant dip. The duck poutine was my personal favourite, but all the dishes are flavoured excellently and will certainly leave you satisfied. That being said, the brunch is on an entirely other level. Whatever you do, make sure you get their home fries. They're insanely crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They're the perfect encapsulation of what potatoes should taste like. Make it the side to your eggs benedict (my go-to order here), and you'll fuel yourself well for the day ahead. The brunch here rivals Toast and Jam for best in the city. Oh and be sure to end your brunch with the French Toast. This is a spot that every Kingstonian has to cross off their list, and every visitor needs to try if they can. Check out @foodpharaoh on Instagram for more food!

Passed by this place a couple of times and I always thought it was just a hotel establishment but…read moremy friend was convinced there was a restaurant hidden inside. Finally went inside to confirm and then made a reservation of that night on their outdoor patio area. The vibe is really nice since the patio is it's own separate area with some really nice...tiling? Idk it just feels really premium and good vibes outside. Ordered the Nabulsi Cheese small plate as well as the Pan Seared Flat-Iron Steak as the recommendation from the server. I'm really not that well versed in fine dining or just more pricy places, so this was a relatively new experience on my end. The nabulsi cheese plate was exceptional. The blend of flavours (olives, tomatoes, shallots) were really nice mixed together. The cheese was amazing, chewy and just great texture all on a nice sliced baguette. Kinda like a flavour explosion which was amazing. Definitely try the cheese plate. The flat-iron steak wasn't you typical steak cooked along with a potato side (mashed or fries). The steak was paired with a quinoa mix, "panca pepper demi and aji verde" which were the dark brown/black sauce and the green sauce in the picture. Steak was super tender and with both sauces were phenomenal. On the same vein as the nabulsi cheese plate, these dishes are literally flavours I've never tasted before and they were amazing. I never really tried quinoa either and was skeptical as to how it would pair alongside steak but it was actually quite nice since the texture was so different then the other things we ordered. This place is the definition of a hidden gem for me. Not even a Yelp page (woohoo another business added!) and not signage outside indicating what it is. Hopefully this review gives it it's much needed appreciation! 5 stars easily.

We popped into KBC for an early dinner, and the place was already quite full (on the main level),…read morewhich I took as a good sign. Although many breweries/brewpubs have leaned into the now-cliché industrial look, KBC looks very much like an old school pub. Its walls are covered in the paraphernalia of countless beer companies, and there's plenty of nooks and crannies to sit down with your people and knock back some pints. Going to brewpubs can be a hit-or-miss experience for my non-beer-drinker wife, but KBC's enticing menu has something for everyone. Also, their sausage rolls appetizer was enough to ensure that we were both eager to try out the pub. The sausage rolls are of the bite-sized variety and come with a tomato-chili sauce for dipping. The puff pastry of the rolls was shatteringly-crisp, with some browning on both it and the exposed meat at the ends. I enjoyed the juicy, savoury meat inside and the tomato-chili sauce brought some acidity and heat to the show. Since we still weren't l that hungry, we decided to share just one main, the cottage pie. I always give mental kudos to places that use the proper name for this dish (it's only shepherd's pie if lamb is used) and take it as a sign that they know what they're doing. It's hard to have a *bad* cottage/shepherd's pie, but KBC's stood a bit above the fray with a bit more depth of flavour to its meat seasoning, as well as the smoked cheddar in the potatoes. As always, don't be too eager, as you will burn your mouth. Our server was very chill, but was still attentive and knew his stuff beer- and food-wise. It's easy to see why KBC is such a popular spot, and I'm glad we hit them up on this trip through Kingston!

Overlooked spot to eat while I was a Queen's student. I…read moregraduated around 10 years ago and only ate at the Grizzly Grill once, which was a fluke. The prices are more expensive compared to other restaurants on Princess, but for good reason. The food is Amazing. The staff will take care of you (that was Sara for us, the one who just started a few nights ago, the one from Alberta, I think -- please keep her on the earlier dining shift, always. I predict she'll get more glowing reviews and up your restaurants' reputation online/overall if you keep her on the earlier shift ). My partner and I came up to visit Kingston just for the day to reminisce our separate times at Queen's. We stumbled into deciding to eat here after Grecco's wait was too long, and discovering that Mino's wasn't offering dine-in options except for Fridays and Saturdays (we came to visit on a Thursday). Anyway, I'm so happy Grizzly Grill had no wait and seated us right away. The Carving Platter for 1 was way more food than two people could eat and finish. It was mouth wateringly delicious and a great way to sample many of the items on their menu. The only thing I didn't like (there was two): 1) The prime rib portion was served as shavings. It just tastes like tasty stir-fried beef (no offense). Perhaps changing the description to "Prime Beef shavings" would be a more accurate description. 2) The spice that was on everything, ended up being on the fries, chicken wings and dry-rub ribs was unexpectedly spicy. It had heat that I didn't enjoy since I was not expecting it. I suspect that it was from the dry-rub that made things gently, but surely fiery, that I did not like. Much too much dry rub and it was way too salty for my liking. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS AMAZING. THE P.E.I. MUSSELS. THE PRIME RIB I HAD 10 YEARS AGO (I still have just a great memory of eating it and how juicy and delicious it was!) Students, this is where you want to take your parents instead/as an alternative to Chez Piggy's. You won't regret it (:

Worst. Birthday. Dinner. EVER! I was so excited to eat at…read morethis restaurant. I even chose it for my birthday dinner. Bad choice, and I would not go back. I went on a Monday night & arrived with a little more than an hour until I needed to leave and go to my Ghost Walking tour downtown, which was a 15 minute drive away. Since it was a Monday, I figured that was more than enough time. There were two tables seated outside. I was the only table in the downstairs dining room. And there were a lot of staff. I have no idea why service was so slow! The outside is very cute. There is a huge Grizzly Bear head over the entrance & the inside is gorgeous beams and dark wood. Great ambiance with the potential to be a wonderful place to eat. I sat on the first flood downstairs in a booth at the back. I could see the kitchen from my seat. The staff was friendly and there was a hostess. My server was Erika. It took a few minutes for her to come over. I saw at least four servers moving around the dining room and not in a panic or rush. I ordered a drink. It was some kind of tropical something. Took forever to come out & no alcohol. I could taste none. I knew what I wanted to eat in advance what with having to be careful about gluten, so I ordered my food when I placed the drink order. The waitress was concerned about the pecan coating on the shrimp for my Surf and Turf order. She went to check with the kitchen to see if it was gluten-free and it wasn't (I was hoping it was just pecans). I was relieved to see she was careful about the gluten. So I had to get plain grilled shrimp. A bit disappointing, but no biggie. I kept waiting & watching the time tick by. Finally, I saw some food come up in the kitchen window. I did see a plate with a steak and thought, "Oh that must be my dinner." I kept waiting for someone to go over and grab it, but looked at my phone when it came up and it sat in the window for NINE minutes with servers walking past. I almost asked the hostess if that was my food. More food came out bit by bit and the servers started running it up that huge staircase. We're not talking about 20 plates or anything. There may have been a group of 10 -12 max by my estimation. After 45 minutes & being in the restaurant over an hour, I called my server over and said I had to leave in 6 minutes to catch my tour. After missing my trolley tour by 4 minutes, I was panicked to be at this tour on time. She went over to check and said it would be out in 3 minutes. It was almost 7:40 PM by now, and I was starving. I told her it was ridiculous that grilled shrimp and a medium rare steak wasn't out in 45 minutes in a restaurant that was mostly empty. She tried to make the excuse there was a large party upstairs. I was a server for more than a decade. One party of 10 doesn't put a kitchen behind like that. She even said, "Yes, I thought 45 minutes was a long time." That made me angrier. Well, if you thought there was a problem, why didn't you check on it? Or check on me? She hadn't been back once in all that time. I had ordered another drink from someone else, but it still wasn't there. The food did come out about 3 minutes later & there were LITERALLY 3 shrimp on the plate. You can see in the picture. The steak was seasoned well but not a great cut of meat. Tough in some places. And they had just started making this. The asparagus wasn't good. No flavour, not done. Three of the potatoes were still raw. I gulped down as much as I could in the few minutes I had. Finally the 2nd drink came out & I told her to give it to someone else. I had no time to drink it & wasn't going to chug it on a still mostly empty stomach & drive. There seemed to be very little common sense in the way things ran at this place. Know what they did to 'fix' it? Took the drink I had no time to consume off the bill & the first with no alcohol. Not what anyone wants for a birthday dinner. Mediocre food, poor service and panic and stress. I would never go back.

Atmosphere is spacious, cabin-like and comfortable. Staff do the standard vaccination check and contact tracing procedures before being seated. Service is really good as I'd expect and our server was constantly checking in on us throughout the meal which was solid. Came here for the Endless Shrimp promotion going on for $23.99 on Monday-Thursday and goes up to $29.99 Friday-Sunday. For 23.99 I think the price is pretty good for what you get. There's 5 varieties of shrimp on offer here but the highlights for me were the crispy thai and the grilled skewer. Don't recall how many orders I did but they definitely do not make you wait for ordering more shrimp. Our server kept coming back asking what our next shrimp order was going to be. The shrimp isn't anything amazing but it's just pretty good overall. You only get 1 side for all of this which is a bit disappointing as I stopped ordering more shrimp because I was getting a tad bored of just stuffing my face with shrimp and nothing else lol. Not sure about any of their other offerings but endless shrimp promotion is actually not a bad value play and does the job.
