My PT therapist mentioned Montague & Son The Birkenstock Store located in Herndon and yesterday I finally dropped by. Located close to Lotte Plaza and Fair Oaks Hospital, it's a small store but packed with Birkenstock sandals and other ancillaries . I was met entering by a young lady (Ceres?)who took her time to help me decide which sandals would fit and what colors were available (none of mine were so went with second best). She was very thorough, up to the point where another young lady who was obviously a close friend stopped by and then I had her divided attention to check-out. I have my sandals and tried them as directed for an hour first day and the tried the second day. It hurt in the top of my foot and I had to read the reviews to find out why it was hurting. Would have been nice to have been told that by my associate. Not cheap so pay attention in the store. I overheard another associate going deeper into the physical aspects of the sandals so try and see if you can enter, walk around and listen in to conversations to see which associate seem to be most knowledgeable. Hopefully the sandals will break in shortly and I can experience the benefit.

While we were waiting there were two people in front of us using the machine on their own. There was no one from the store helping them. I assumed I could do the same(use the machine). I even asked the people if they were done. When I was asking my husband to take his shoes off a person on my back told me "NO, YOU DO NOT DO THAT" I turned around and told him there was nobody there and the other people were using it. He told me with a hash tone I HAVE TO HELP YOU. I literally thought he was going to tell me to help me understand the results of the machine. The only thing he did was press start and he LEFT. HE LEFT without an explanation or NOTHING. I felt like a person being joked by a selfish guy. NO One in the store said anything. We turned around and left. I took a picture of the people that were at the store and only white people were being helped . I'm sorry but I have to say it, there are stores that are very racist and this is one of them. Customer service is the worst :(

This is a great place if you want some varieties of the more popular branded running or walking…read moreshoes like Hoka, cloud, mizuno etc. Some of your general shoe stores may have those brands, but definitely not the varieties this place carries. The service is very personal here. You get greeted and a sales rep comes to take your feet size on some machine and figure out your shoe size. They also have treadmills here for you to try out the shoes - an interesting touch of try before you buy. The price is worth the service they provide.

The woman working at the front was very kind and courteous. In contrast , it seemed like the other employees as well as the manager were trying their best to ignore me. It was if they considered me unimportant although I had plenty of money to spend. I'm seeing this behavior more and more when it comes to people from other countries in their treatment of black customers. I'm not usually one to complain aim of this but rudeness is rudeness and I thought that this should be brought to your attention. The sales associate (Jane) walked us through the Aetrex machine to see our feet size/shape to find the best pair for us as well. SERVICE Jane Lee, the sales associate, was very kind and friendly! She took our call when we called ahead of time and walked us through the Aetrex machine, showed us various pairs of Birkenstocks that aligned with what we were looking for, and taught us the maintenance as well. VALUE The shoes here are comparable to that of online and other stores. We decided to purchase a pair here since we could try it on and look at the colors in person since they vary leather to leather. I emailed the Reston store and their manager Freia told me to come back in and they would help me get into a better size. Delaney again helped me and put me in a better size. They exchanged my 9d's, no questions asked - even though I had worn them a bit. I will def. be coming back here for my next pair of Allen Edmonds!
