My favorite restaurant. Love the spicy sweet potatoes and salmon and piñon crusted chicken and blackberry pork!!!! Love, love love everything- wish they had In dsm!!! read more

Amazing environment, food, and service. I ordered something off menu and they made it to perfection. Their whipped potatoes are to die for.

Service was great. Comfortable atmosphere and Decorated nice. The dish I had was a raspberry chipotle chicken on spinach pasta. It was sweet and tasty. I also had the spinach salad with the warm dressing. The salad was my favorite! A bit pricy but good food and great selection of wines! read more

We have been to Montage twice in the last month with a larger group. Both times have been great. Our server last evening was Dorian and she was so well informed on the food menu, as well as beverages. I'd probably pass on the shrimp skewers next time. Poor sauce to shrimp ratio. Sides are all fantastic. Impressive wine list with bottles half price on Mondays! A little pricey but to me the experience is well worth it. read more

This is a very nice restaurant in the heart of Cedar Fall's lovely little shopping area. Like most Iowa restaurants, you're best sticking with the incredibly good grilled and broiled meat dishes--they take the whole farm to table thing seriously here when it comes to meat. We came to celebrate an anniversary, which I mentioned when making the reservation. 5 adults, all with entrees at $25+, a terrific goat cheese appetizer, salads, a bottle of mid priced wine--you get where I'm going with this, right? The bill was ka-chinging every time our nice waiter came by. After the entrees are cleared away, the waiter brings out 2 small truffles with candles in them, we all ooh and ahh and say isn't that nice?! And then order 3 desserts. The big old bill comes...AND THEY'VE CHARGED US $4 FOR THE STUPID TRUFFLES. WHICH WE DIDN'T ORDER. WHICH WE THOUGHT WERE A GIFT. I wasn't paying, and no one likes it when I complain, BUT THEY CAN'T STOP ME HERE! and that's why I have them 2 stars. Great food. Stupid management. read more

Food was excellent. We shared crab cakes which were excellent. Our waitress katy was amazing friendly and prompt. I ordered salmon and goat cheese risotto which was excellent. Very clean restaurant and friendly staff. Price reflects quality of food. Definitely going again read more

I really enjoy Montage and suggest it to anyone who wants a nicer meal. I especially suggest you try and get one of the window seats upstairs, overlooking downtown Cedar Falls. It's a beautiful view and very relaxing. Food: Get the seasonal pastas. They never fail to delight. Montage does a very good job of putting together some great seasonal pastas that are flavorful and different from what you're used to. Make sure you try it. They also have a pretty good wine selection and the upstairs lounge area is certainly a nice place to enjoy an evening with a small group of friends. Service: I agree with a few others on here, it could be better. But it really depends on the night and the server. I've had a few very good service experiences here, as well as a few less than favorable ones. Atmosphere: Pretty good but depends on where you are seated and how busy it is. As mentioned before, there are a few great scenic seats, as well as a few cozy corners for small groups. Exposed brick walls and modern fixtures/art add to the ambiance. read more

In town for work. Second time at the place for dinner. Had the Asian Slaw- loved it. Crab cake app was also excellent. My fish entre was okay... Good dessert selection. Had the hazelnut gelato! Bottle of wine was half price! It was Monday...don't know if they have a deal every Monday, but nice. Would go back! read more

Popped in here while traveling, happened to be Feb. 15. We arrived about 15 minutes after they opened and all tables were reserved. We sat at the bar and had a lovely dinner. Sea bass was fabulous! Sirloin steak and mixed vegetables also great. Waitress was wonderful. We'd absolutely go again. Delightful dinner for sure! Bottom line- Go but make a reservation! read more

Anyone else get nervous when the menu ranges from steak to seafood to pizza to pasta to Texas brisket tacos? Well. This place is amazing. At least what I ate was! Crab cakes were all crab. No fillers. Sauce was spicy but not over spicy. Steak was done perfect medium rare. Nice garnish. Twice baked Parmesan potatoes. Hot and so fluffy! No room for dessert, sadly. Cocktail menu was full of variety. My cosmo had ice crystals in it. I love that! Great wine selection and you can even order a bottle to go! They also had seasonal items. Interesting pasta with craisins and prosciutto. Didn't try it but I bet it was good! Great service. Very attentive. Great ambience. Quiet and relaxing. Yup. Come eat here! read more

I love Montage. They are one of the few restaurants in Cedar Falls who caters towards people with allergies, included Gluten Free. THey have a wonderful menu. The whipped sweet potatoes are awesome; however the split chicken though is not very flavorful. I will stick with the steak. read more

The service here is what really stood out to me. It's great when you can have enjoyable conversation with the bartenders. I tried the famous crusted trout(if I recall). It has a very unique crust made from crispy tortillas, with a smokey chipotle flavoring. Since I had never heard such a thing, I HAD to try it! I enjoyed it thoroughly. I would definitely say this is a stand out restaurant in Cedar Falls. Check it out! read more

One of the best managed restaurants in the area. I've become a huge fan of their steaks and fish options. The sides such as The spicy corn as well as the spicy whipped sweet potatoes are unique and worth the trip alone. I feel the management is very accommodating and welcoming. It's a can't miss when we visit. read more

Sorry Chad and Kirun had bad experiences, but we've been to Montage 3 times and have always had outstanding food and friendly service at a very reasonable price. This is our go-to restaurant for special occasions. read more

Love this place. Nice upper patio to sit and eat on in the nice weather. Good food. Nice atmosphere.

YUM. One of the best, quiet, fine dining experiences in the Cedar Valley. Tried and true - although the menu has been pretty unchanged for the past several years, it is testament to the fact that it works. A few great dishes: the goat cheese, sun-dried tomato and pesto torta appetizer, raspberry-chipotle and firecracker pastas. A staple of downtown Cedar Falls! read more

I went to Montage for the first time last night. My waitress was wonderful, and the food was fantastic. I ordered the carrot curry soup, Asian slaw, and three fish tacos. Wow! It was a bit pricy, but worth it. I sat outside, which is a plus in the summer. I'll be back! Ray read more

We go to montage for every special occasion and in between when we want to treat ourselves. The goat cheese torte is my favorite dish in all of downtown. My husband can't not get the hoisin salmon every visit. We love to have drinks and appetizers on the rooftop patio in the summer. Always so nice! read more

Their food and service is amazing and so is the ambience no matter where you sit, always a great experience !

Very nice place! On the pricier side so I would say it's more for special occasions but worth the money. Service is great. Servers & hostesses are friendly. Food comes in a timely manner. The sugar cookie martini & mushroom appetizer are the best! read more

Good food, same old menu. I've enjoyed the hoisin salmon as well as several pastas(Thai peanut and some raspberry pasta). From what I understand it has had the same menu since it's opened. My thoughts are to keep their big sellers but maybe try some new stuff. Always consistent and fairly priced. Raspberry mojito is a must try. This restaurant is good but not gourmet. read more

Ate here while overnighting with RAGBRAI. Food and drinks were great. Service awesome. Had the spinach salad with warm dressing and the grilled salmon. Will definitely go again if ever I am back in Sioux Falls. read more

Something is wrong with Montage lately. Raw chicken and old picon crust. In addition to taking reservations and making people wait additional 30 minutes. They definitely had changes in management and kitchen on January 3rd 2020 read more

I always get the pumpkin pasta any time it's in season, the best dish there is to offer I love it soooo much!

I have never had a bad experience at Montage. The food and service are consistently amazing. Hands down, best restaurant in town.

An absolute gem of a restaurant. I ate here twice on my business trip to Cedar Falls and enjoyed both plates immensely. The servers are knowledgable about the wines and the cocktails are creative and delicious. The seasoning of the plates could use a little work but otherwise it's top notch. read more

Probably one of the best restaurant in cedar falls. The interiors are classy and they have a huge huge selection of wines which they also sell for take home. We tried their goat cheese chicken salad and the meat was very tender and well seasoned. Also tried their seasonal pumpkin pie which was pretty decent. It's a good place for date night or special occasion diners. read more

Exquisite food at a reasonable price. High class all the way. If you are looking to impress someone Montage should be top of your list! We always feel like high class when dining here and the staff and service are second to none. I highly recommend them! read more

Ate there on New Year's Eve. All four in our party liked what we ordered. The food is on the expensive side but we knew that going in.

So nice to have a quality restaurant nearby. The usual suspects are so tiring which makes a Montage visit something to always look forward to. read more

My favorite spot in Cedar Falls/Waterloo. The sea bass with mango and tomatilla salsa is one of their best options. They also have some of the best martinis in the area. In the land of cheesy potatoes and brown food this is a great option with fresh ingredients. read more

We were at UNI and went here for dinner. Service was great and the food excellent. A lot to choose from. Ask about the specials, including special side dishes. We had a goat cheese risotto that was awesome. Try the chocolate soufflé for dessert! read more

I've been here three times over the last year while in Cedar Falls for business and its been great each time. They have a real nice craft beer selection, a great rooftop and outstanding food and service. I highly recommend it read more

Traveling through Cedar Falls we had dinner at Montage. The menu offered many tempting choices both for appetizers and for entrees. Unable to decide among entrees we decided to go small plates and ordered several apps to share. From smoky chipotle hummus to shrimp cocktail to crab cakes and black bean corn cakes each dish was delightful. Montage also has a well constructed wine list with new and old world wines at a variety of price points. Service was good although our waitress seemed to still be learning the menu. Montage deserves praise for a creative menu of well prepared dishes in an attractive environment. read more

I LOVE this restaurant and eat dinner at it every night I am in town. Over the last 15 years I have never had a bad meal. Service is great and the owners are incredible. Everyone is personable and they remember repeat customers (like I am now) on a first name basis. The owners know all the employees on a first name basis and know what's going on with them at school, family, etc.... I am so happy they are successful-they deserve it. read more

See all

I've generally had pretty good meals here, and for a while, it was our go to business dinner location, so I've had quite a few. The waitstaff is generally eager and friendly, though they occasionally are a tad inexperienced with the menu (there seems to be high server turnover). The food, while not super adventurous, is generally well prepared. The pork chops, steaks, and seafood have never let me down. 2 complaints. First, like Nick said, there hasn't been an update in the menu in years, if ever. I've only lived here a few years, but my understanding is that it is the same menu they opened with. They do have a special most nights which helps this a little. Second, the bread with the goat cheese torta (which is excellent) is always cold (which is nasty). They clearly plate the appetizer early in the day, and just stick it, bread and all, in the fridge. This really doesn't make sense, but they are nice enough to warm the bread if you know to ask. read more

I am baffled by some of the reviews listed here. I have lived in Cedar Falls for 26 years and I have eaten at Montage dozens of times. I have never received an overcooked filet mignon or had anything but the finest service. I also don't understand listing Montage as an Italian restaurant, just because they offer pasta dishes. Here is the lowdown from a local. Montage is the best restaurant in this area. While their menu is not extensive, it offers a nice variety of choices. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, with an arty decor by local artist Gary Kelley. The meals are consistently excellent and the waitstaff is professional and accommodating. They have a selective, well-chosen wine list. My wife and I will keep eating here regularly, because Montage has earned our business. My favorite meals are the peanut sauce dishes (seafood or chicken), the filet mignon and beef kabobs, the sea bass with tomatillo salsa, and the wonderful slaw salad and Montage potato side dishes. For desert try the creme brulee. read more

In the upper price range for cedar falls... But tier service, food and importantly their atmosphere justifies this. If you've tried it once but aren't sold, try the hoisin salmon, you'll be sold. Best food in Cedar Falls. read more

My wife and I moved to town about a year ago. I've been to Montage several times. More than 10 at least. What amazes me most is the quality never changes. The food is always amazing and the service is fantastic. Big fan. Get the Iowa Chop. I get that it's only a pork chop but it will be the best pork chop you've ever had. Start with the Goat Cheese Torta for an appetizer and the Iowa Old Fashioned (or 2) and you'll be pretty happy! read more

We attended a private cocktail party recently with wonderful hors d'oeuvres. Highly recommend all! Chicken queso dip with blue tortilla chips, pesto & goat cheese ball spread on toasts, bacon wrapped scallops (superb,) shrimp cocktail and others I'm not recalling at the moment. We decided not to order dinner this time. read more
