The Last Word. A beautiful concoction 99% of bars cannot produce

Lovely neighborhood spot that is galaxies away from most local bars where brazen entertainment (karaoke, tv sports, trivia) trumps delicious drinks. Here quality cocktails are safeguarded, cultivated, and furnished to maximum satisfaction. Did I write all this googley eyed?

What a hidden gem! The Chart Room is a gotta-try watering hole living on the Coralville Strip. It's thoughtfully put together with lots of seating options and cool themed decor. Just sitting there made me want to plan my next vacation. (Totally did book a week in Mexico shortly thereafter.) I popped in on a Friday after work and was pleasantly surprised! What a find. It features quite a lot of whiskeys and our bartender seemed really knowledgeable. Their cocktail menu was diverse and their In-Fashioned was delightful. Pricing was on point-- check out their happy hour (Tuesday - Friday, 4-6pm)! I was surprised to find there was no food menu (though Almost Famous Popcorn is available for purchase). Parking is a non-issue. NOTE: There didn't appear to be any TVs-- so this isn't a spot to post up for the big game. The Chart Room isn't trying to do too much-- but the things it does do are fabulous. Pop in for a cocktail on a patio and good conversation!

Espresso Martini - very good - and a G&T waiting to be served in the background. Both were great

Nothing bad to say. It is a great little bar with really nice people working behind that bar. The drinks are good and the atmosphere is fun. The decor is a bit understated but at the same time does a nice job of making you feel like you aren't sitting in a space at the end of a strip mall that sits across from a huge mall. So, the location isn't great but it should t deter people from stopping in for a drink. No food on the menu but word is that may be coming in the near future. And if you only have time for one drink, it's the espresso martini. Extremely well done. Overall a great place to have a few drinks.

Great prices for complex big city cocktails. There are some really great and deep-flavor drinks here. Service was good, and the atmosphere is great.

I stopped in visiting from Chicago. I did a quick Google search for a whiskey bar..and boy, did I hit the jackpot. I am in search of the world's best Old fashion drink. This one did not disappoint; my guy, whose name was (Sam) the bartender was masterful in putting this together. The place is small but welcoming and super cozy. At first taste, I was in love. I rate this a 10/10, and one of the best I've drunk. This makes Chart Room a must-stop on the list of places in the world to grab an old fashion from. Don't take my word for it; just look at the pictures and videos. I'll definitely be back.

The $50 sirloin steak was served cold. Because our waitress, Grace H, failed to even ask how our food was the entire time until after we had eaten everything I couldn't even send it back. I spent the entire time trying to make eye contact with her but she was busy taking new tables. When she finally came to ask how our food was and was told, her response was I will let the kitchen know. Not "I will bring you another plate" or even discount or comp the entree. Not what you'd expect from Iowa city's fine dining flagship. The prices were not just expensive, but over the top expensive. $50 for an 8 ounce sirloin. $56 for 12 average oysters. To be honest it's below average in value to a nice restaurant in LA, NY or Chicago. They may thrive because the IC elite doesn't have many options for upscale dining. But for someone who has lived in those cities and eaten at Michelin star culinary venues this place is lacking in both food and service for the prices they charge. It was enough of a bad experience that I will never be back. There's Chez Grace, Joseph's and 126 which offer quality food, much better value and food service. Posting my food pics and the receipt to see what $200 gets you here.

It gives non-college town vibes with crystal light fixtures, tiled walls, big city pictures-- and just an overall 'swanky' feel. The menu has something for everyone-- from small plates to flat breads to (oddly) a plethora of seafood entrees. Additionally, you can get stuffed olives by the skewer to order. I think this is the only place in town to have such a diverse offering of olives. (But I suppose, with a name like the Stuffed Olive-- you can't not.) I ordered a charcuterie to go and I thought bang per buck was ok? But the quality of ingredients as well as how it was packed was less than to be desired. That being said-- the greeting I got from staff when I walked in to pick up my order was great! I got my order on time and in a hurry. The real star of this IC watering hole is its extensive martini menu -- from traditional to dessert. I've popped in a time or two to enjoy these. And now that I know Mondays are buy one, get one for a penny-- I may pop in a time or two more! Staff has been hit or miss my few visits. Pricing seems on point. Parking, as always in downtown IC, is tricky. I recommend the Dubuque Parking Ramp. Overall, this is a welcomed addition to the downtown scene. I can totally see myself having a date night or girls night with a martini in hand at Stuffed Olive.
