Coming back for the lunch special I was a little underwhelmed. The pasta portions are small and somehow they have no glasses of wine except for one or two. Everything else is by the bottol - I would expect more in the wine selection from them. The quality of pasta was good. The Alfredo sauce is on point. The gnocchi Gorgonzola I tried was epic as well. But also small in portion. The vinegrette salad is basic and I wish they had another soup option as I'm not a minestrone fan.

We came to Baroncini last night for a late Valentine's Day date, and it was such a cute, cozy little Italian spot in downtown Iowa City. Our server was very kind and we enjoyed her a lot. We ordered the Spinach Ravioli and a Margherita Pizza to share. The pizza was fine, however the toppings were quick to fall off. The spinach ravioli (not pictured) was amazing. I was a huge fan. We also split a bottle of riesling and the cheesecake for dessert. Both were wonderful. We are excited to have found a new spot in Iowa city and are looking forward to returning!

Fabulous!! The food, the ambiance, the staff all phenomenal. We stopped by for dinner before seeing a show nearby and highly recommend. You MUST make a reservation as people around us who did not make a reservation were told their table was only available for an hour (which is reasonable but we were glad to not have felt rushed). I got the mushroom truffle pasta and my partner got the fettuccini panna. The waitress recommended adding steak to the truffle pasta - it was a great add but the pasta would have been on its own as well. We each loved our meal and had enough leftovers for a full second meal. We also got the cheese cake which I highly recommend.

The best meal I had while visiting Iowa city. It's a cozy and intimate restaurant with friendly staff and amazing fresh food. I can't wait to return!

Darn good food. Server was especially on point re wine recommendations. Ambience a bit noisy but the food made any inconvenience worth it.

Best Italian food in Iowa City! Authentic and fresh. Hard to get a table but more exciting when you get to go.

Food was mediocre. Steak was overcooked- we sent it back and they sent another that was cooked better. Ambiance was not romantic.

What started as a wine and cheese shop with a small bar has grown into a full-service restaurant with a small shop. It boasts outdoor seating (though, be careful for falling acorns during the fall-- those are hazardous)! I stopped in on a Friday evening, prior to another reservation. I got a crisp glass of rose and enjoyed the beautiful October day. I'd d I recommend street parking, down Linn Street. Though the Tower Place Parking Ramp is a short .25 mile walk away. Honestly, I bumped this up a star for two main reasons. 1) STAFF. Man, just the most helpful, knowledgeable and personable folks work here. Kind folks. I mean Kind with a capital K -- and it starts from the top. During the pandemic, the owner donated $13k during the peak of the pandemic to local businesses. (By challenging his customers: For every $100 Brix gift card purchased, he would pay forward 100 percent, with 75 percent of the money going to various downtown venues, restaurants and retail, and 25 percent to the Englert Theatre.) Additionally, each year Brix does a Rosé vs Wade event raising money for the local Emma Goldman Clinic of Iowa City. 2) Wine classes. I am always so intrigued to see the wine classes Brix puts up on Facebook. I adore wine but I am not anything close to a sommelier. Keep an eye out for these informative and tasty classes! Brix is one of a kind in Downtown Iowa City. Sip, sip hooray! Stop by.

I'm obsessed with their local ingredient-focused menu and fun cocktails. They also have a great wine selection. The charcuterie board is probably the best I've had in Iowa! They have a phenomenal selection of wines, especially natural/biodynamic wines, which for us is the first time seeing this being offered in this part of the state. The next closest we've seen is Des Moines, so we were pleasantly surprised! The food was pretty good, fresh and offered a nice variety -- I will say that the particular menu we had the night we came lacked protein/meat, but I imagine it's because they are consistently changing up the menu so maybe next time, we will see more selection of proteins. They also allow you to bring wine for a $15 corkage fee per bottle which is really nice. The ambiance is absolutely stunning -- so much natural light, beautiful modern decor, with lots of plants. Very inviting! We were having such a good time with one another that I forgot to take pictures. So, that just means we'll have to come back again!

Small place with a fun painted modern chic. The smell of a smoker greets you when you walk in (yum!). My friend loves to sit at the bar and he also loves to sit on the high seats, I hate that. Some high seats in some restaurants don't have the crossbar (these did) to put your feet up on and some bars don't have a step or rail to put your feet up on - this is one of them - I HATE that. There were two servers behind the bar, both friendly and informative and happy to help with questions or requests. They seemed to be very busy with to go orders. My friend ordered the smoked salmon pizza. He thought the salmon was too lightly smoked. Otherwise it was very good. We both agreed the crust was phenomenal, top 5 we've ever had. I ordered what the cook called a corn pizza. My friend thought mine looked better than his, I agreed. My pizza was outstanding. Spanish chorizo, local corn, scallions, tajín - the tajín was the coup d'état, it turned the pizza from good to great and as mentioned before, the crust was amazing. They have a core 4-5 pizzas then rotate another 3 special pizzas at different intervals. It wasn't really busy in the restaurant but we did wait 30+ minutes for our pizza. 4/5 will for sure return. The wait for the food and the high seats keep this from being 5/5, the taste of the food is for sure 5/5.
