After many failed attempts we were finally able to place an order and it tasted amazing! We called around 8:45 and asked when they were taking orders until since we couldn't find anything on their Facebook. Apparently they run out of dough and won't take orders past a certain time even though they're open until 11 so be aware. We ordered a large pizza and it came with 2 sodas and garlic bread for about $20 which is a crazy good deal! Will definitely be coming back in the future!! read more

Monstros Pizza is a local pizzeria across the street from CSU Chico with amazingly fresh and authentic pizza. The hours are hit and miss but when you see their sign/arrow on in the front lawn make sure to give them a try! I personally prefer to call ahead because they take awhile but who can argue with quality. They offer multiple sizes for every occasion depending on your mood/group. You can taste the freshness in their cheese! I recommend giving this place a try, so go ahead and get yourself a fresh slice of your choice! read more

Pizza is AMAZING! Visiting from out of town and seen this place had great reviews, so thought let's give it a try. It is cash only but totally worth it! Great costumer service and delicious hot pizza. It's a MUST! read more

We've just moved to Chico and are, luckily, just a couple blocks from Monstro's! We finally took the plunge and got a pie tonight and, let me tell you, this pizza is excellent. You can tell it's all homemade and the prices are actually ridiculously low. The owner took great care of us, we will 100% be visiting again!!! Get used to seeing our faces, Monstro's lol can't get rid of us now! B & D read more

Literally called at 10:00 pm after getting no answers all day the day before and when they picked up the phone today they said that they were closed and gave me a phone number to call for next time and it was Woodstock's phone number. Was pretty funny made me laugh but I just wanted to try the pizza lol heard it's good though read more

Amazing crust with whole made sause and no skimping on the toppings! This is Chico's best pizza by far. My only complaint is that it is never open. On occasion bands play there as well. Fun place. read more

Best pizza in Chico hands down, you can tell his pizza is mad with passion, real food.

The most underrated pizza in town. The owner of this establishment is a true artisan. Don't let the punk rock facade and the cheap price fool you into thinking the pizza is anything but magnificent, the owner often sources local ingredients and has occasionally mentioned that my toppings were picked up at the farmers market that day. THE IMPORTANT STUFF. The dough: Crunchy thin cornmeal dusted bottom, with a light and airy sourdough top. Never too much dough like some cheap pizza places. My temples never hurt from chewing too much. The sauce: Not too sweet, fresh tasting, garlic, possibly wine. I'm pretty sure its made from scratch and it is unlike any of the other sauces in town. The toppings: The usual, although i will add that the mozzarella is the best ive had on a pizza at this price point. Beverages: Pabst, and a rotating selection of Sierra Nevada. Also RC cola! Personal favorites: I most often go for sausage and bell peppers with extra cheese, although the peperoni is also delicious. other highlights include: Lasagna, garlic bread, and the famous Breath of Death, featuring peperoni, garlic and jalapeños. Ambience: the lobby is appointed with rustic wooden tables, benches, and booths. A selection of board games. A collection of vintage pinball machines. A beautiful vintage cash register, vintage dough mixers. A black and white TV playing a random selection of classics, sometimes simpsons episodes and other randomness taped from the 80s and 90's featuring period commercials. A stunning collection of pizza boxes from as far away as iraq. There are often metal and punk shows on friday and saturday, so call ahead if you were looking for some kind of intimate weekend dining experience. Weekdays however, a fantastic spot to relax and enjoy the best pizza in town. read more

A M A Z I N G P I Z Z A ! I am not kidding - I have tried a lot of pizza places since I moved to Chico and this is the best pizza in town. Hands down. The ambiance is very quirky with old video games that don't work, a tiny B&W TV that is really loud and a cement floor with saw dust on it. We waited for a long time to get our pizza too, but it was worth the wait! Really -- I'd wait way longer for these amazing pies! Their hours and days that they are open are strange, but I am going to make a concerted effort to figure it out so I can come here more often. The owner is a really nice guy and buys his sausage from Chicago! Sauce and dough are from scratch. Love that! Anyway, if you haven't already, try this little hidden gem out! You won't be disappointed!! read more

From someone who lived behind Monstro's for a year, it is easily one of the best places in Chico. From a guy who majored in Music, Monstro's is one of the coolest places to see music. And from a guy who loves pizza, this is the go to joint hands down. MONSTRO"S! read more

Tried their pizza for the first time last night after living nearly blocks away for over 5 years! I'm really glad I did! The hours of this place always seemed confusing to me but that won't keep me away any longer. Delicious pizza, very fresh and good quality plus a unique throw back atmosphere. Loved it! read more

Odd way of ordering, bit of a longer wait time and they only take cash, but the food quality was great!

Service was interesting. The lady taking our order barely said a word and needed help counting back change. Pizza was surprisingly medicore at best. It came out fast and undercooked.I was expecting more based on reviews. Ambience is probably the best feature of this place. There is no sawdust on the floors like other reviews say. read more

Excellent pizza, great prices! Please attempt to make the pizza before we get there to pick it up!

Great pizza and great service! We got the last dough of the night which they turned into the perfect pizza around 10:30. Great place for late night eats. They told us they're renovating and about to open a service window to walk up and order outside which is awesome! Wish I took a picture of the pie when it was hot out of the oven but it smelled so good we couldn't wait and then it was almost gone lol. We decided to give a few slices to a man nearby who happened to be homeless. The man working (possibly the owner, we forgot to ask) actually was nice enough to give him some bread and sauces while we were waiting for our pizza. We just wanted to add onto that and give a little more(it was a huge pizza for a great price). We asked for a plate and when he saw we were giving some to the man, he wanted to give us some frostie sodas which were super yummy and we hadn't had in years! Great business, great pizza, and great people working there. Highly recommend getting a slice before they sell out at the end of the night, as they make their dough fresh everyday. Thank you again!! You made our night read more

Ok. So. I work long long days. 12hr shifts. I came home. Took a shower. Remembering I need to eat dinner and what sounds better than pizza right?! I remembered this spot is only opened on sat and tues after 6. I get here and realized cash only. Dang! Bummer. So I'm guessing the owner hears my rant and totally understood where I was coming from and offers to make me my order. Anything I wanted he said. I just wanted a simple 12" pie. He says have a seat and I'll make you your pizza. Just pay me back next week. Totally awesome. Totally made my day and weekend. Awesome customer service! Very humble of him. That a lone deserves 5 stars. I'm sure the pizza is going to be excellent! read more

I don't understand why everyone loves this place. The pizza tastes like pizza you get by slice when you leave the bar drunk. It's really not that great. I had high expectations with the all of the great reviews, but it's just not for me. read more

What's not to like about Monstros? Great pizza and punk rock shows, vintage video games and quirky owners who keep odd hours? I'll be back! read more

This place is awesome. The pizza was the best pizza I've ever had in Chico, the staff was super friendly, and it has a one of a kind atmosphere. The sawdust on the floor, the TV playing old news broadcasts from the 90's, and the low lighting make this place awesome. Top that off with some bomb pizza and this place earns its 5 stars. Go here if you want a great pizza. read more

Still here, still making awesome pizza! Call ahead even if they look closed. I'm so glad they're still here.

Excellent pizza, savory sauce, medium thick crust cook through beautifIlly and generous toppings! Promptly delivered from a 600 degree oven!! Will be back. read more

Monstros Pizza took me home to my go-to pizza spot. The base has a nice doughiness to it while still giving you the crunch and crispiness of a thin-crust 'za (best of both worlds). The ingredients atop are traditional and straightforward but are customizable. The flavors of the toppings, dough and the sauce blend together like the northern lights in April--quite literally tasting as good as it looks. I made a customizable supreme/combination pizza. It was hot, freshly made, and had a hint of spiciness to it at the very end of each bite. read more

Want a good pizza that isn't trying to be anything more than a delicious pizza? This is your place. It's got a cool retro vibe that feels authentic and not forced or "modern retro." They have a red, white, and pesto sauce to choose from for your pizza, the red and white are delicious, I haven't tried the pesto yet. The owner is a cool guy. I recommend this place if you want a good pizza. Sure the hours are odd to some, but it's worth it. He's here to make delicious pizza, not cater to some corporate mans hours, and for that (and delicious pizza), I'll always be coming back. read more

If I die eating a Monstros pizza, I will have died happy! I think this may be one of the best pizzas on the planet. Really, every bite is a party in your mouth! read more

BEST.PIZZA.EVER. I have yet to find anywhere comparable to Monstros in quality and price anywhere in Southern California. Another place that I always try to hit up when I go back to visit. The owner still recognizes our phone number when we call. The owner is always friendly, fast and makes a great pie. The place itself expanded from a little hole in the wall to an actual venue. Awesome job done on the front. Love the tile. I always get extra sauce on my pizzas and they never disappoint. Truly awesome sauce. Epic some may say. Their hours can be a little erratic, but keep checkin' back. The pizza is worth it. Keep up the good work! read more

It's hard for me to review Pizza because I love all pizza. I like bad pizza almost as much as good. And I love many different kinds of pizza. Monstros is a real pizza shop, not one of those gormet california pizza places. It's got saw dust on the floor and a couple of pinball machines against one wall. In the corner is a black and white TV with the Simpsons blaring. It's a unique and interesting place. The Pizza is good and it's filling and it's not pricy. Usually you can buy just a slice if you want. Check it out. But don't expect anything fancy, and you might have to wait a while if they are busy. Monstros is closed Sunday and Monday and opens the rest of the week around five. read more

Haven't even eaten here because I can't find a menu. It's not on their web site. I even stopped by to ask for a take out menu. The lady behind the counter seemed confused by my request. What she gave me was a flier advertising about 6 different specials but no menu. So I guess they don't have a menu. read more

This place has really big portions I just ordered a garlic bread to go with cheese humongous loaf of bread. I wish they added a bit more seasoning or the garlic bread but cheese bread can't go wrong read more

Super friendly staff even after coming in ten minutes before closing. The gentleman at the counter was super welcoming and I'll definitely be coming back read more

Legendary. You can't beat the value or the taste. I eat everything they have to offer and have no complaints. My favorite is the spaghetti, which is a heaping box full along side a half-loaf of garlic bread for $5. I like to order ahead and get a couple of games of pinball in while I wait for my food. They also have pretty legit Punk shows at this location. I recommend to anyone. read more

This is a weird business. During hours when it was supposed to be open, we pulled up in the parking lot and saw the owner clearly through the window, but the shop was closed. Earlier, our nephew had gone in and the guy told him it was closed because he had to "go back to the lab," whatever that means. I gave up and won't be going again. read more

I only wish they were open more often for longer hours. Their crust and sauce is the best in town. My favorite is the breath of death, with pickled jalapeños and roasted garlic. All the fresh vegetables are great, and service is fast. Cash only though, so come prepared. read more

BEST PEPPERONI PIZZA IN THE WORLD! Seriously though, I LOVE pizza and have been to a lot of pizza parlors all over the place and I honestly have to say that their pepperoni pizza is the best I've had in my lifetime thus far. read more

I went to college at Chico state and monstros is what I miss most about that town! Great pizza, great owner/manager/pizza chef!! You don't need cash to get a pizza here, he used to allow starving college students to work folding pizza boxes in exchange for a meal. My roommate worked at the lumber yard and would trade scrap wood for whole pies delivered. The owner is a great guy who makes great pizza, simple as that! read more

Best pizza in town hands down. I like the old movie theater style ice they have for the soda.

The pizza slices are huge. But the place is very run down. Sometimes they have bands that play like punk bands and stuff, but its all kinda loud and it brings in a... different clan of people i dont hang with. Really great food. read more

it was my first time at monstros tonight and their service was amazing! i felt bad for coming in ten minutes before closing, but they were super friendly and accommodating. my friend ordered a slice for himself and i wasn't going to eat since i had eaten earlier. but the guy at the counter said he'd make one big enough for the both of us! great customer service, i'll definitely be back again! :) read more

Monstros Pizza - Pizza Near Me - Chico, California

while this is the only pizza place i eat at in Chico I'm gonna have to give them 3 stars. Monstros for sure has best pizza in Chico and the fact that its cheap makes it just that much better. For $3.50 you can get a slice that's equivalent to a third of a large pizza. Its almost too big. My favorite is THE BREATH OF DEATH. Also their garlic bread is to die for, literally. I really like the atmosphere with old pizza boxes on the wall, sawdust all over the floor, and the big wooden community tables. But they take forever, i mean there are time where ill be waiting for close to an hour and even when i call-in ahead of time i still end up having to wait awhile. Sometimes the service is ridiculous but i keep goin back. i jus wish they ran things a little faster Ya and unfortunately Monstros is open only Tues.- Sat 5pm - 12am read more
