My peanut butter shake was delicious. $5 for one and only size about a medium I would say. Will come back when in the area.

All the yums from my childhood in one place. Soft serve sundaes, thin burgers with all the fixins, fried pickles (OK, maybe those are from more recently than childhood). It's the perfect roadside burger stand. Can't endorse the full menu, but the burger was In and Out-quality, soft serve was generous and tasty, sides were fried and delivered on expectations. We were only driving through, but the staff and locals waiting for their food were chatty and super friendly. On pricing, this place is on the very affordable side. If you think it's expensive, you ain't from around here (by here, I mean California. Or any city in the US of A, really). The flies though. So many. It was weird. read more

This was the PERFECT end to a long day of hiking! I had a bacon cheeseburger, which came with some sort of delicious special sauce that made ketchup, mustard, and mayo completely unnecessary. It was the typical diner-style thin patty, greasy, and absolutely delightful. read more

Stopped here on our way back from Bodie State Park. Pervious reviews mention unfriendly service but we were met with friendly faces. It's cash only and the price of burgers, fries, and drinks can add up. We split the chili burger and it was delicious, loaded with cheese, onions, and homemade chili. The fries were fresh and super salty (I'm pregnant and the salty taste was right up my alley!!). We also got a chocolate shake. Shake was definitely yummy but after seeing all the soft serve cones come out the window I wish I had ordered that! For such a crowded place on a Sunday afternoon the food came out fast. My favorite place to eat in town. I Get the double jalapeno burger( the jalapenos are real spicy!) with a side of tots. They have a few different choices besides burgers like turkey burger, hot dogs, pastrami,Steak tacos, fried mushroom. etc. Their shakes and malts are awesome. Dont be cheap, bust out a $10 bill, its well worth it! Unless you're a complete moron, the menu is easy to read. Theyre open till 7 or 8. This place is awesome. I was on a fishing trip in the area and had a craving for a burger and milk shake. I saw this place and decided to give it a try. The moment you walk up you a greeted by the friendliest person in Mono County. There are many different options for shakes and burgers and reasonably priced at that. The service is great, the food was great, and the price was right. What more can you ask for? I go up to Mono County every summer and this is now going to be one of my stops every time. read more

A nearly perfect summer-time drive in sort of experience in you're in Lee Vining. Been stopping there for years. Last time in I had the jalapeno cheese burger and it was great--lots and lots of jalapenos, and good meat to condiment ratio. I haven't tried the fries lately because I save room for the old-fashioned soft-serve ice cream. In a world of designer ice cream, it is fun to go to a place with basically two flavors of soft serve: chocolate and vanilla (but they have lots of flavors to add to shakes, and lots of topping options). Beware--the "large" chocolate dip cone is huge (which is not a bad thing . . .) Nice grassy area to sit in the back. The place might be a little pricey, but you're in a pretty remote tourist town that is really only "open" in the summertime. These folks have to work hard to earn a living during a relatively short season, and they do a great job. read more

This spot was super busy, so you know it's good. The oreo peanut butter shake was yummy. Kids like their cherry shake and cone. Prices are decent. Quick service. They only accept cash so make sure you have some!! I wish we would have tried their food instead of the crappy bbq joint we went to. read more

Personally I love this place. It isn't the cheapest in town but then again the food is amazing. If pricing is really that big of an issue for some of you then you're just cheap because Mono Cone still manages to have a line up to the sidewalk on most days. Also not a lot of people know this so its easy to understand your frustration, but the couple that owns it is the same couple taking your order and making your food (Cashier and Cook). They are there by themselves early to setup and stay by themselves to clean. That being said its easy to understand how they'd only be open 8 hours, you try working about 12 hours a day EVERY day. From the first day of the season to the last, they only close for an EMEGERGENCY and never for holidays or just because. I just wanted to set some reviewers straight because a lot were very misinformed or unaware. Haha oh yea and the menu? Are you kidding? Its pretty straight forward, they've even had to write little statements under some items because a lot of people really are not the brightest out there. LONG LIVE MONO CONE! read more

Delicious! I went for the buttermilk shake because I'd never heard of such a thing. The lady that works there recommended blackberry or peach....I went with blackberry. It was sweet and tangy, almost like cheesecake. Next time, I want to get buttermilk chocolate malt. I love these little ice cream stands....I wish there was one in Mammoth, since that's where we stay, but Lee Vining is so cute and it's a nice drive, plus we can swing through the June Lake loop on the way. read more

We decided to stop in for lunch and made sure we got our order right because of the Nazi order taker behind the screen ( We have been here before ) and this time the Nazi made the mistake on how much our outrageous bill was for , but she doesn't make mistakes only the customers. After getting our food we decided to sit out back since the weather was nice but for some reason it smelled like sewer, I looked down and my Cheeseburger was taking off carried by 100 flies. I grabbed our food back and went inside where I spent the whole time eating and swinging my arm waving off flies, less of them but still flies. Getting to the Burger, I honestly looked down to see if they had forgotten the patty because I felt like I was eating a Veggie Sandwich, yup there it is all 1/8 " thick in its glory. Between the grouch behind the screen, flies,sewer smell, high prices, small portions I'll take my money elsewhere where maybe I can get gas and food at the same time. read more

I've visited Mono Cone several times and the food has always been great, however the service needs improvement. I've never had an employee talk to me the way this man did today. There was a mixup and I was given the wrong hamburger- no big deal it happens. When I brought attention to the issue the girl handing out orders grabbed the cook or manager I'm not sure what he was and he immediately came at me in a very rude tone. He asked the girl who took the order if I had ordered what I said and she replied that she didn't hear that part. So then he tells me that I need to learn to listen when someone repeats the order to me. I told him that it was a big order and I wasn't at the counter when she read the order back and he replied well too bad listen next time. Taken back by how he talked to a customer, especially after spending over $60 there I asked if he was going to remake the hamburger or not, and he said yeah I'll remake it but learn to pay attention when someone reads your order back. It's sad that one negative person can ruin a whole experience. read more

A welcome site when you pull into Lee Vining and there is no where else to eat. The staff is very friendly, and although the food was a little greasy - it still hit the spot. My kids enjoyed watching the seagulls from the window. read more

Been coming here for years when we make the trip up to June Lake. The dipped cone is delicious!! I love their soft serve ice cream! My husband had the hot fudge sundae and enjoyed it, although there was a massive amount of whip cream on top. Tasty spot in a small town, need to try their food!! Next time for sure. read more

As a local to the area, it is always a special day when Mono Cone opens for the season! The burgers are quite possibly the best in the Eastern Sierra! It's just your basic, no frills ice cream/burger stand... But oh so wonderful! Be sure to try the fresh brewed ice tea... and I just LOVE the butterscotch malt!!! :) read more

Stopped by here and not at out usual place to eat from reviews I read. Wow, not sure if it is the altitude or the intense sun but this place is way off from the reviews. Knew we were in trouble when she handed out the red tray with the two burgers barely covering any of the tray. They boast they use Angus beef, Angus who? Angus never showed up I ordered the bacon cheese burger with a shake and the wife got the cheese burger and soda. The beef patty was so super thin I think the tomato slice was thicker. All we could taste was the bacon and the lettuce, tomato and sauce. All this for 18 bucks. The shake was good but nothing special just made from soft serve ice cream (3 stars). Have to give them credit for making the thinest patty in the sierras.
